  1. Yes, so I did a plane for exactly the same reason as you. I used the turbojet engines. With this you can get to a higher altitude and travel faster than with the other jet. Also, ive noticed its fuel eficience gets higher the higher you get, till a point which i cant remember, where it starts decreasing. So yeah, there is a sweet spot where you get least fuel consuption at a pretty fast speed (+1000 m/s). Using one engine or 2 depends on how heavy the plane will be and the lift vector (aka wings) it has. Try a couple desings and keep the best!
  2. Hi, updates will automatically download in steam, for free. Nontheless, I think you will loose the option of downloading the game thru ksp store. I think this is a one way street, if you go steam, you cant go back. I say this because a friend got his game and activted steam, and is no longer capable of downloading the game as in the ksp store. I am not going to activate steam if you ask me.
  3. Yeah, follow those links, but in mi honest opinion, if you want te feel how ksp really is, dont use mechjeb. The game will teach you and you will learn lots by playing rather than the game playing for you.
  4. Yes, it is a bit tricky. It should tell you why you cant return to ksc imo..
  5. If you ended flight, you delete the vessel, so your rover is not there any more. Also, if you have a carefully planned space station and you "end flight" by mistake, its gone, so be careful. Also, you sometimes have "space senter" grayed out, this is cause of several reasons. You could have the throttle up, even if it is at 1%and you dont have any engines at all, it will force you to get it to 0%, by pressingX for example.. Also, if the rover is moving on a surface, it wount let you g to space center. Make sure you stop the rover completely. Also, when time accelerating you cannot go to space center, so also, make sure you are not time accelerating. So, when getting this button greyed out, hit "X" (close throttle), "B" (brakes) and spam the "," (- time acceleate) key.
  6. I have never had a nuke engie exploding because of heat in space, the red indicator goes 7/8 full and stops there.
  7. Good, i dont like mechjeb either, havent even downloaded it! im a purist haha
  8. Yes, there is a fix for that! Assuming your ships are in a equatorial orbit, align the docking port so that it is facing north in the trackball, This whay, while it orbits around the planet, it will always be facing the same direction. If you hit the ship and make it spin, try going back to that other ship and realigning it again. Also, if you are starting to spin uncontrollably or want the ship to stop spinning, hit "." and time accelerate. This will stop all movement. Try with this tips!
  9. Yeah, here is an extra challenge. Go to a planet, leave something there, like a flag (in next release) or a little antena with a probe and scientific instruments(dont forget solar arrays), and then, back to kerbin!
  10. Good! although i knew this its nice to see it drawn!
  11. Well in that picture the engine has exploded because you had too much weight ontop of it. Ships are not solid objects, the gae calculates all stresses along the ship and if a part has too much, it will explode. Also, if you want to reduce mass, make a smaller lander. Also, add docking ports and take the lander to orbit, and then send a "space tug" to push it to wherever you wanna go!
  12. My frient, that is why your planes pitch up. You have to have the CoG and the centre of lift together in the same spot. Of course, keep in mind that while your fuel consumes, you CoG will change!
  13. That is why I made this. You can change the gravity value and see if it would work in other planets wuth diferent gravity
  14. Ha! Good! try sending a bigger one!
  15. Hi, I wondered if you could launch a ship from kerbin using only ion engines. I needed a calculator for this, so I made it. It is a excel . xls file with a table that calculates the total weight of your ship in different planets, total thrust, energy balance.. All you need to know in order to desing a ship to be launched vertically from any planet! You can select different number of parts and everything updates automatically. Please qive it a try! I took me some time to do it! HOW TO USE: You only need to change the "Quantity" column. Also, the planets gravity box located at the top part. You have a list of all planets and gravities below. Total Thrust box must be higher than Total Weight box in order to have lift. Ask any questions you have! http://www.fileswap.com/dl/McSxFeYmTy/
  16. Are you sure you are placing the fuelo ducts correctly? You have to click first the tank of gas you want to transfer FROM and then click to where you want to transfer TO. You also have smal ▶▶▶ at the middle of the duct that shows flow direction.
  17. Im a mechanical engineer student, ask me in a few years! haha
  18. Great! You can upload screenshots (pressing F1 you take a screenshot) to image shering sites such as imgr.com and embed them in the forum so we can see them! Good schedule, do you use any mods?
  19. Awesome! Thou I think you would have enjoyed it more if it wa your first landing EVER! BTW; arent you using too much mods for being a begginer? I mean its ok, but you cant really see the real KSP with so meany mods! hahaha
  20. The limit is how much your cmputer can handle.. Are you familiar with aspargu staging and ways of making your rockets more fuel efficient?
  21. Well because other than controll is easier with kerbals... YOu can repack chutes or interact with ships, also, yuo can go IVA or EVA wich is awesome and much more! I use probes only for rocket stages that will be destroyed on purpose.
  22. Wow.. Its interesting to see old space projects, seem so insane even now! Think how everything would be if those projects would have continued and launched.
  23. Great! I also hope for a asteroid belt! But around a planet would be awesome.
  24. Yeah, I guess there will always be people like that, every were over the internet, I hope not thou
