  1. *sigh* Well, looks like I have to find a way to tighten security.....
  2. Allright, carl - I just hope the vote does not close by itself ^^ Still, I bet everyone would like to read your reviews.
  3. Yeah, I allready had the same ideas - but no, I can not add two polls nor I can not remove one and replace it. I'm not entirely sure, if I can even edit it. Also, the forum supports only 10 options to choose from - this time we allready had 39 entries....
  4. Well, I am not entirely sure if the vote will close itself or if I have to close it manually. Right now you can still vote - I will just try to keep it open for another 24h to buy you guys some time.
  5. Yeah, it's usually two days primary, two days final vote. The final vote will take place in the forum, as a open vote (i.e. you can see who voted for whom). The two days are a relic from the times when we had between 10-20 participants and two days was more than enough. And while I realize, that being able to pile eight votes onto one entry might be a little exessive, I think this is a much better voting procedure, than the old voting sytem. There usually one or two participants and the most votes and something like 6 votes could get you on one of the free spots on the short list. And let's be hones, everybody can sabotage this voting if you invest 5-10 minutes into voting - we basically have to trust each other.
  6. Hurry, Carl - your reviews are arewesome, but the vote will close in ~2 hours! Anyways, I realize, that two day voting is rather short with so many entries - next time I'll give you more time when we have so many participants.
  7. Doh - forgot to turn the craft back to the default-position while testing several designs :/ Still - thanks for all the votes
  8. Well, try again now or in a diffrent browser - it works fine over here and 38 people have allready voted. So I'm not the only one
  9. Now, the big .zig should now contain Blaze's and mhoram's updated files. With 39 contenders this is getting rather confusing ^^ Also, thanks for 16 votes! I'm a little confused because nobody mentioned my craft Still, nice that you guys like my design. And a special thanks to Johnno - his design put me on the quad LV-T30 track ^^
  10. What briansun said - I have 13 downloads on the updated .zip file. Can't tell you how many downloaded the old one, but it was linked for the first hour or so.
  11. well, total transperency comes in the final vote.....but you've got a point. I could make it a closed poll, but then you guys would more or less have to tell me that you want to vote and your email, wich is a lot of additional labor. You guys can see the results here... @BlazeFallow: Well, allright, replace the link in your original post. I wont be able to change you .craft in the .zip file until tomorrow
  12. Actually, there is. But I'm still not sure if I should make it public while you are voting, wich would lead to bias in the result or if I should publish it once the voting is done.
  13. You can download (allmost) all .craft files >>here<< in a single zip. @timemaster: Can't download you file, so it's missing at the moment.
  14. Sorry, zekes - now you should have the right picture. @Spartwo Nope, didn't know that - I don't see where you clarify that in you post. This whole stuff is quite time consuming and I didn't have to time to look into any .craft file yet. I just take the pictures you guys provide me with and in the second picture you provided me with is mostly black ^^
  15. Lets start the primary votes! This time I chose another voting system - basically each one of you has 8 votes. You can either pile all of them on a single entry or spread them out if you can't decide for whom to vote. I hope this will help you guys - I personally though it would be ridiculous to choose a single craft from over thirty entires as THE BEST. Be so kind and do not vote for yourself - it's undignified and not objective. I also encourage you to tell us for whom you've voted and why. These post are basically the best part of the challenge Also, you can tell me if you think the new voting system is an improvement. The vote will close in two days. Do not forget to read the Challenge Guidelines Mk.II - this is not about the most beautifull craft. You can download all .craft files >>here<< in a single zip. >>VOTE HERE<< Results can be view here.
  16. Your name has been changed, Nao. And all submissions are closed. Now, please give me some time and listen to some smooth jazz.
  17. Mh, I'm really sorry - but you need a picture to enter the contest and submissions will close in about 30 minutes.
  18. About 1.5 hours left before submissions are closed!
  19. Nope, I don't think the name is very important, although I personally like to have a nice, unique name. So, I usually come up with some absurd acronym
  20. lol, sorry, thats the 70 from "70 parts" in your post. Happens if you add several people at once.
  21. ]I present you my entry: The CROME - the ChemRock Orbital/Münar Explorer Is a fully functional münar rocket. I tried to keep it a simple a possible while keeping some advanced goodies in the design, that can be understood, copies or emulated. So, let me explain some design decisions: I wanted to keep the aspargus-design, because it's a rather important technique in KSP. But I remember when I launched the Kerbal X as a noob, that everything happend too fast to grasp. So I went with a fourfold symetry and orange tanks. The tanks drain slowly, you can check that only two tanks are feeding all the engines, while the others stay full. This way a new player could hopefully understand the fuel-flow and the basic priciple of aspargus The engines on the Boosters are quad LV-T30 engines. I neglected this engine myself for a long time, but with the "new" adapters it has become a engine that can easily be assembled is is rather awesome. It has ~30% more thrust than a Skipper engine, while beeing more efficient. Also it introduces noobs to clustered engines in general. The lander uses radially attached LV-909, wich makes for are very compact design. I used this technique on my CRUEL lander aswell. It makes a nice, compact rocket that is less wobbly. Also the best way to attach nuclear engines in my opinion. The rocket has a rather generous battery but only solar panels that have to be toggled. Electricity is rather important, especially with the new science stuff, that uses it heavily. Therefore I think you should not "hide" the concept, by sticking a RTG on your craft. But point new playes at it, so I added a note to toggle the panels into the desciption. While a docking port was not requested, I think it adds versatility to the craft. This way you can dock at space stations, dock an additional tank, dock to a tug or take a specialized probe with you. Also it looks nice It has an antenna that is extended together with the solar pannels. While there is no use for it in sandbox, it serves to mark the landers dorsal side. This corresponds with the RCS controlls in chase camera mode. I hope that is makes the control of the craft a bit more intuive, should a player decide to dock the CROME to some other craft. The RCS looks like it is all over the place, but it should work rather nicely, spent some time to balance it. Get your CROME HERE!
