Squad made the choice they did due to technical limitations and that isn't what my post is about ... I wanted to know what the community thought about the posting of challenges and such before 1.1 was officially released

I think you misconstrue what this thread is about

if it is, it's your own fault. You're griping about people making forum threads about 1.1 who aren't even Squad employees.

  2. 1230 is basically 1228 with the debug release message removed and probably some logging levels turned down. That's the way things tend to work in the software industry.

  3. and it's completely irrational to berate users for posting things for 1.1 just because you yourself have elected not to download 1.1.

What's next, get angry at mod makers for supporting 1.1 because you don't have it yet?

Or getting angry at Squad for making 1.1 at all because that meant that some people (testers...) would have it before it was released?

  4. USI-LS is logging hundreds (and I mean hundreds) of these messages:

[LOG 20:27:09.041] ERROR Object reference not set to an instance of an object IN ModuleLifeSupport

and I didn't even have a manned craft in flight when it did that, let alone one with USI-LS components on board.

Was on first launch of an existing safe after installing it, if that's any help. USI-LS seems to be working nominally, so it's most likely a spurious log message rather than a real problem with the mod.

    USI-LS 0.40.1, KSP 1.10.1228 x64

  5. Biofuels are good for one thing and one thing only: leeching subsidies out of governments wanting to be seen as "green". Their product requires more energy to produce than it generates. IOW for every kilo Newton of energy contained in a liter of biodiesel you need to expend more than a kilo Newton of energy in the form of fossil fuels and electricity in order to create it (taking the entire production cycle from tilling the land, tending and harvesting the crops, etc.).

For fossil fuels and nuclear energy this is not the case, obviously.

Solar and wind are not quite as bad but also less efficient than fossil or nuclear. Geothermal comes in reasonably well but is largely untested as to its long term effects on the surroundings of the installations (wind and solar are known to have negative effects, especially wind at a large scale).

Here is an unofficial update for FieldExperience, have fun everybody :)

Edit: And here also an unoffical update to DatedQuickSaves, I couldn't resist (also includes the updated MagicCore)

Edit2: Added SensibleScreenshot to the list:

All updates have been tested and did not show any bugs. So I hope everything is fine.

now if only the download site didn't try to sneak malware and popups to phishing sites onto my computer...

My opinion on Squad. This is there first Game. The didn't have much of an idea what they where getting into. They created a great game. They get more organized and experienced as they progress in development. Just look at the inprovements in Dev notes over the past year. Look at how they are starting to plan their updates better. The make mistakes(from some peoples perspective) some times. They keep getting better at it every time.

Keep up the good work Squad!

And most of the people who had it only through the KSP website and really want to help make the product better will have bought a Steam copy as well, considering the often thousands of hours of enjoyment we've had out of our 3-4-5 year old copies bought back then at a fraction of the price of the current version has been well worth it.

Depends on the business. But I think observationally, the vast majority of companies that find themselves cash-rich but losing money will stay in business hoping to turn things around, not cease trading.

they will also cut things that are not their core business to save money, and KSP isn't Squad's core business (though it probably brought them a nice chunk of income over the last few years).

That may involve shutting down side operations, or selling them.

What helps here is that KSP is a bit of a hobby for them as well as being a source of income :)

Test if it goes away if you disable the lens flare shader or the godrays.

-Option to disable scaledSpace ambient light (celestial bodies appear realistically lit and will display as crescents in the sky)

Doesn't go away without godrays, I know that much.

It's not 100% reproducable though, making it hard to pin down.

I did notice something else though. Was flying behind the Mun, with the sun behind Kerbin and the Mun between me and Kerbin. Kerbin's atmosphere was ghosting through the Mun.

I don't understand how we can have a ∆v readout for manoeuver nodes and kspedia explaining what it is, and yet we can't know how much delta V our ship has. It makes literally no sense to me

This! In earlier versions it was somewhat explainable that there was no Dv readout, maybe. Since the introduction of the KSPedia in 1.1, no longer.

  11. Rome had a partial slave economy, but it wasn't driven primarily by conquest. Most slaves were convicted criminals or people incapable of paying their debts reduced to slavery to compensate (usually temporarily).

Could the empire have survived (longer)? Sure. If they'd managed to get their internal strife and struggles under control that caused ever more resources to be diverted away from the periphery and into the core. The empire died from a combination of strategic overstretch and chronic mismanagement of its resources by various emperors (and the constant powerstruggles, coups, etc. that they had to endure).

The outer regions lost touch with the core, became ever more independent, to the point where they stopped paying attention to the core at all and were for all intent and purpose independent nations. Which sapped the core of even more resources, speeding up its slide into corruption and decay.
