  1. So i did finish it but i can't say i'm too happy about how it turned out
  2. Oh god i wish i had a 3D printer. I'm currently trying to build the same Paper model and all the tiny bits are driving me insane. Its incredibly sad to see such long lasting missions come to an end. Must be very hard for the people who worked in it for 20 years. I'm Looking forward to the Europa Clipper and the Juice mission now.
  3. The Problem with reaction wheels is that they get saturated (they can't turn any faster) and you will eventually need the thrusters to allow them to slow down again.
  4. yeah i guess the whole research mechanic would have to be rebalanced, but i still think it would be worth it since the current experiments don't really represent actual instruments used on Spacecraft today.
  5. I think advanced probe cores and skilled Kerbals should atleast be able to execute maneuver nodes. That would make low thrust Spacecraft a lot more viable and it's basically the biggest reason for me to use Mechjeb.
  6. KSP could use more scientific instruments. The stock Barometer, thermometer and accelerometer are cool as low tech sensors but i really think we need something like Magnetometers, Spectrometers and other more modern stuff. DMagic Orbital Science is a good example of whats missing in the stock game.
  7. I found this cool video from way back when Cassini was still part of a new line of so called Mariner Mark II probes.
  8. The Van Allen Belts are probably the reason that the proposed Deep Space Transport will be stationed in Lunar orbit allowing Astronauts a fast transit through the radiation using Orion. So i guess the simplest solution is to not fly your ion powered vessel through the belt at all and to service them with spacecraft that minimize their passage time using faster chemical engines.
  9. The russians really like to put reflecting satellites into space don't they? Anyway i will definetly try to spot this thing while its up there.
  10. Man after seeing all these Commercials i really want to buy a Satellite now
  11. What Advanced technology? The only thing they have what we lack today are Nuclear thermal Rockets, but they have been built and tested in the 1960's.
  12. It is supposed to fly for 3 minutes a day and charge itself using a solar cell. I don't think it is supposed to reconnect with the rover.
  13. Nasa is actually considering a small coaxial helicopter as a navigation aid to the Mars 2020 Rover. https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/news.php?feature=4457
  14. Thats basically what i did. Well i'll keep my Rovers unmanned for now.
  15. I love this mod and i haven't had any other problems with it but its kinda frustrating to lose two Kerbals after a 50 year career with perfect safety record, and not even seeing them blow up
  16. So after Sending two Kerbals on a trip on the Mun's Surface, i return only to find the Rover unmanned, and both show up in the Astronaut Complex as K.I.A. Has this happened to anyone else or could this be unrelated to this mod?
  17. I would recommend to check out the game "Children of a Dead Earth" on Steam, as it not only simulates Space combat but also the Spaceships and their different systems. And it allows you to create spaceships in a manner similar to KSP.
  18. I don't really see the big difference between spending money on the dlc vs on this upgrade?
  19. They only got two mirror assemblies, not whole Satellites. One of them will be used on the WFIRST but it doesn't seem like that results in a cost reduction.
  20. This is a great Youtube Channel. I suggest everyone to check out some of his other videos. Very different from all of the other Popular space channels out there.
  21. Well isn't it supposed to work in tandem with some kind of spacecraft? The point that makes the Orion interesting is that it can reenter from beyond low earth orbit so that a spaceship wouldn't need to decelerate into earth orbit for the crew to be picked up. Reentering straight from an interplanetary trajectory reduces mission complexity a lot.
  22. I think that money would be better spent on something like the WFIRST which seems to be comparable to the Hubble.
