Supposedly they'll announce SteamBox on Wednesday, and hopefully a whole bunch of SteamOS games on Friday. At least that would make sense; you can't announce a platform without announcing some new games for it, too. SteamOS will apparently run the existing library of Linux games, and stream from other platforms. What I'm really interested to see is if more developers will finally start focusing on Linux because of this.

Decouplers cannot be used like that, you have to use docking ports.

Detachable, flexable power cords/fuel hoses
Karriz replied to SirJoab's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I remember seeing some sort of flexible tubes mod in a fan-made KSP trailer a long time ago. Just like the tubes in Moonbase Alpha. Has anyone else seen that mod, or am I just making things up in my own head? It has been confusing me for a while. -
NASA says that Voyager has entered interstellar space
Karriz posted a topic in Science & Spaceflight
Right now on the official NASA livestream: http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/voyager/voyager20130912.html#.UjIEvMZbmPV They've finally concluded that the spacecraft is traveling trough interstellar, not solar, plasma. -
Who knows, maybe spaceplanes will be the main intercontinental travel method. SSTO planes or a space elevator would of course bring the costs down, but I'm not sure if we'll be getting that far before 2100. I'm fairly sure I'll be able to get to a suborbital flight in my lifetime. Virgin Galactic starts next year, and although the tickets are still quite costy, in a few decades it might actually be affordable.

Here's another video, it really looks awesome up there:

My most challenging mission so far was an Apollo-style Ike landing, but when trying to return, the spacecraft ran out of fuel and got stuck in a solar orbit. I had to send a rescue ship, and finally Bill, Bob and Jebediah got home safely. SSTO's are still rocket science to me. My planes get to space, but not orbit.
-
I've learned orbital mechanics from KSP. I was very interested in space even before playing KSP, but it has definitely made me even more interested. Getting a job from space industry would certainly be a dream come true, being able to do something so important.

They're planning on doing plenty of unmanned missions at first, so I'm hoping that they'll get at least something on the surface of Mars. It's not a scam, they won't just disappear with the money they've grabbed. Either way, we'll see in couple of years when they finally need to get serious about training and hardware design. Roadmap is there if someone has missed it: http://www.mars-one.com/en/mission/summary-of-the-plan As you can see, plenty of unmanned launches before the manned ones. They won't just send the astronauts blindly and see if something goes wrong.

Squad Should Ask Microsoft For A Free Xbox One Development Kit
Karriz replied to NeoMorph's topic in KSP1 Discussion
If they were to make a console version, it'd be after the PC version is finished. Surely they should consider it. Next-gen hardware is probably powerful enough to run KSP, but there'd be some obvious limitations like no modding. -
I usually point the other ship towards ground, and the other one to the opposite direction. That helps me to keep them aligned correctly. RCS balancer and docking cam are great tools to make docking easier.

Deep Space Mission pack and Bobcat's Nautilus mods have rotating habs. Of course you can also build your own with Damned Robotics.

Go to the channel, click the "About" tab and click "send message". Or, go to your inbox, make a new message and write the username manually, I think that works too.

This is definitely something I want to see in career mode. Doing scientific exploration should grant more funding and open up new parts in tech tree.

Spaceship like "Discovery One" from 2001 Space Odyssey

The centrifuge in it is too small, I've read that in reality you'd need a ring that is hundreds of meters diameter. Other than that, why not? It uses some sort of plasma rockets which should be possible in a few decades. Ships like this are pretty much necessary if we ever intend to go to other planets. -
I've got an Asus K56CB which certainly runs KSP just fine. Costs 650 in euros, but it shouldn't be much more in dollars.

There's a mod that allows Kerbals to grab some small parts and attach them to another place. http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/attachment-pack/

Was there any amount of optimization done for .21?
Karriz replied to Rocketeer Hopeful's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Setting the physics delta time slider all the way to the right helps with FPS issues, but makes the game run in slow motion when flying huge ships. Either way, it makes controlling easier. -
Some kind of virtual "afterlife" would be interesting. You would exist in a 3d game world, but you could also follow the real world happenings trough the internet. There's of course one issue: is it really you, or just a perfect digital copy of you? If you were replaced with a biological copy while you were sleeping, you wouldn't notice any difference. I think sleeping sort of reboots consciousness, while memories remain.

Mun Free Returns (Spoilerish, I think)

If you approach Moon from the other "side", it'll slingshot you out of Kerbin's SOI. -
I liked the film, although it'd be nice to have a movie without any disasters. Just seeing the epic landscapes would be enough. I'm kind of afraid that the general public will start seeing manned space exploration in negative light after watching so many of these movies.
-
I like that sort of "realistic" space movies, I've even watched quite a few low budget TV series such as "Voyage to the Planets" and "Race to Mars". This one indeed sounds interesting, I'll make sure to watch it.
-
Landing on planets and moons never gets old. I've only succesfully landed on Mun, Minmus, Eve, Ike, Duna and Laythe. So much left to do. I try to make my missions "realistic", so it complicates things a bit. I can't just send a small pod to interplanetary space, it has to be a huge transfer vehicle.
