meh, just wanted some fun out of it as well. (i can't test a mars mission as easy as a duna mission.) not to mention you can do a lagrange point transfer IRL, and i have no idea what the Dv for that would be. (N body physics make things VERY complicated.)

well, my parents are on it again, "what good are these computer games! go play outside in the sub zero temps! its healthier!(not actually what they said, and no offense to any parents, just a satirical start to the thread) anyway, i thought i would do a complete duma mission without any testing before the final craft launch. that means that I'm gonna be calculating my Dv and TWR by hand an such (thats the whole pour pose of this mission, to show them that its more than just explosions:sticktongue:) anyway, i would like to show you my craft and calculations (results come after.) for mass measurements, one tt14-a stability enhancer weighs .1t[lander one central 1.5m tank +1.5m side tanks (fl-t8000 duna surface gravity=2.94 duna orbit Dv= 2000 (including much room for error) [accel. with Lv-909 +2 side tanks m=18.2 f=50 f=ma=f/m=a=2.73 can’t take away any more fuel. need more power.] [accel. with 3 Rockomax 48-7S +2 side tanks m=19.2 f=90 f=ma=f/m=a=4.69 twr of around 1.5. acceptable.] [Dv with 3 Rockomax 48-7S +2 side tanks Isp=350 Ms=19.2 Me=7.2 ln(Ms/Me)*Isp*9.81=3,367.68 more than enough for orbit. actually enough for the return trip. changing plans… ] [transfer stage duna transfer Dv=1160 fuel measured in fl-t8000 [Dv with 4 LV-909 + 7.5 1.5m tanks Ms=50.4 Me=24.8 Isp=390 ln(Ms/Me)*Isp*9.81= 2,713.13 more than enough. have added a probe and science to have the transfer stage land on ike. now to get something that can launch this thing.] [accel. with 4 LV-909 + 7.5 1.5m tanks f=200 m=50.4 f=ma=f/m=3.97 enough, but gonna be a bit slow.] ] so yah, heres the album that will eventually contain all the pics <iframe class="imgur-album" width="100%" height="550" frameborder="0" src="http://imgur.com/a/k0XAw/embed"></iframe> the plan of this mission is that the upper transfer stage will double as a simple ike probe, while the lander in fact has enough Dv to get home on its own. i may add a rendevouz with the probe after it has retuned from ike to cut transmission losses. anyway, what do you guys think?

i have a old mac book pro (just the non retna one, not that old...) and i can run ksp and most other games quite well with the graphics on high.

ive got something like this predicted in maneuver nodes, but alas, floating point errors make it hard to even chain 2 assists together outside of maneuver nodes. -
im just wondering what they are planning for biomes. will all planets have separate biomes or only some. if so, which ones?

radiation? just use the water used for drinking and alge growing layerd around the living centrifuge. would be expensive. but we have the tech. -
then you have not seen much. whackjob for example.

shire it takes a km per second from that altitude? maybe in 1 orbit, but the isa even need occasional boosts to keep its orbit high. (still some atmosphere.) i think it would only take around 100-200 m/s to enter a 1 day deorbit tagectory. (assuming it only takes about 10-20 m/s to get from LKO to a 3 orbit reentry in ksp.)

not to mention that the earlier planes they were mooted on had problems with the guns recoil slowing their speed to below stalling. (the warthog actually could not fire with one engine due to this. the single gun produces mere recoil force than a single engines thrust.) -
ive had both worlds. I'm in MN currently, and its -20 outside feeling like -36. (F) I've lived in africa where around this time of year its 100 outside and feels like 114 (also F)

one way to tsp the time warp spamming is to have the ongoing experiment take up a 'labsuplies' resource, so you would need to restock it very once in a while. -
the problem squad has with this, as stated during kerbalkon, is that they like the community the game has, and this would round tyne ship exchange, as everyone would suddenly have very different engines all with the same name in the filesystem. its the same thing really with the radomized solar systems.

the abuculer drive relies on energy representing matter, the phenomenon that allows photons to be affected by gravity, and would somehow concentrate huge amours of energy on one spot to create a gravitational pull. it could also use negative energy, which should have anti gravitational properties. (only observed in insanely small amounts, but it does exist. the way i understood it it that it would be like having a gravity well in front of you and a negative one behind. may be wring though.

i have two things that i think would be cool. (they don't rely on each other, so consider this two posts.) 1. i read a discussion about some sot of electromagnet part. could be used for depris cleanup, maybe mechanics, keeping evas close to the ship, and some creative players may even be able to make rail guns. i think that would be cool, as the concept is simple yet the possibilities are endless. (like the beloved cubic strut.) 2. kerbal engeneer chip. (alctualy, it would be better to integrate it into the pod, or even bake it a flight computer, maybe use the ASAS model? -
