Re: Delta IV textures from CluelessModeler He got a job, that takes up much of his time. But, I will supply you with the way that I did them, or, just make some for you. Up to you. But yours looks much more kerbalized, I kind of like it that way. Either way, up to you! If you want them, just send me the UV file, and I'll match it up for ya when I get a chance!

Another Proton rocket failure - May 15, 2014

Epic sir, epic. You've restored my faith in humanity with that comment. -
Hatch Problem - Obstructed
CluelessModeler replied to blackheart612's topic in KSP1 Modelling and Texturing Discussion
I had a similar problem once, I used the link that Justice Kerbice provided, with little to no progress. However, I found, that once my hatch collider didn't actually collide with the model in unity, it worked like a dream. That might be worth a shot. Either that, or make sure, like the link said, that your origin is INSIDE the model collider. Hope it works! -
Another Proton rocket failure - May 15, 2014
CluelessModeler replied to Woopert's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I read something somewhere that after they lost a Proton due to improper installation of several gyroscopes they finally had enough and installed cameras to watch the construction of the rockets a lot more closely. They really had some awful times with shoddy workmanship in that program. I hope that this isn't a recurrence of the same issue, they really need Proton to be performing well in order to not lose contracts to the west. However, on the inside, I hope Rogozin feels like an idiot. -
Very Respectful Request: I would very much like to see what your version of an RL-10 would be! You've done an absolutely outstanding job creating FASA! Thanks for all your hard work and dedication, and I hope you take as long of a break as you feel you need! If it's forever, we all understand! Good luck in all future endeavors, both KSP and RL! Thanks for the corned beef sandwich good sir!!!

That link on the first page is horribly outdated. I'm not sure that it's even remotely compatible with 23.5. Sorry bud!

Haha, I appreciate it man. I just wish I had the proper time to devote to this anymore. However, I've just accepted a position at P&W, and now I'm going to be quite busy. I've sent the models that I had to Dragon01 and Dolin12, and they have my permission to modify them or do whatever they want with them. I'm not going to pitch a fit if they release them, it's whatevs... Sorry I couldn't figure out Unity and everything for you guys. Hopefully the next guy can. Sorry folks!

Stuff that goes boom, stuff that goes bang, and stuff that goes psshhhhhhhhh The user below me knows why it goes boom, bang, and psshhhhhh

I'll admit to that, I'm sad... The user below me has thought about taking a water buffalo into space at one point or another.

Man, these things just keep looking better and better!!! How do you do it? I tried to send you a PM, but it said you couldn't receive any. At least we're friends now!

Ok, got the Delta IV Heavy modelled, still have to do the GEM-60's and 4m DCSS, but, here's some pictures! Tomorrow/Tonight, I'll start getting the Delta II, Delta IV, and Atlas V into Unity!
-
You're right dragon! I would like to keep them red and blue though, otherwise the whole thing looks too bland...
-
Ok, getting back to modelling these beasts! I've got Delta II and Atlas V done now, just going to work on Delta IV, and We'll be in business!!! Here's some updated pictures! Atlas V 401 Centaur and Temporary Payload Fairing Centaur with Single Engine RL-10 (Non-extending) Hopefully I'll get Delta IV modelled tonight/tomorrow, then we'll get them in Unity and start testing!!!

Ok folks, back from my trip. Doing my last two finals today, and then I'll be down for some serious kerballing... Getting closer!!!
-
Thanks everybody! Progress is probably gonna be very slow this weekend/next weekend due to a wedding I have to attend and then finals next week! If I get time to get anything done ill be sure to update this as it comes! Just beat with us for the next week or so! Afterwards, we shall revisit when I can get a version out for a preview or something! In the meantime, y'all should check out KartoffelKuchen's mod! Give him the same support you've given us!

Thrusters on the turntable are separate parts, so they could, in theory, work! I don't know what the merits of the Yo-yo de-spin would be, I don't think that it really would make much sense to have something like that, especially since KSP doesn't simulate that far into real world physics to necessitate having such a thing. But, if you guys want me to animate something like that, I don't see why I couldn't animate the yo-yo's extending out!

Thanks Mr. Kell! After Finals next week, I'll have a week or so before class starts up again, and no wife at home. What will I be doing you ask? KERBALLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Btw, forget Gimp, I'm using CrazyBump from now on! So much easier!

Alright Folks! I've decided to take a break from Calculus, in order to post this new picture of updated modelling/texturing styles! Let me know what ya think! Kinda figuring out how to incorporate more detail, and normal maps and such! Working on Delta K over the next few days, but here's an inprocess with the Star 48 attached and all the adapters and stuff neccessary! Just gotta get the other rockets done!

Hiya Folks, I'm working on the rocket models for the ULA pack, and I just wanted to get an idea of the best way to make really realistic, or at the very least, believable textures for these models. For as long as I've been piddling, I've found that simply using an external program (photoshop) only allows so much room for giving the illusion of shadows and fine detail. So, I did a little research, and found that most other types of models actually include baking the texture to the model, and using that "render" to determine the shadows and everything else using the geometry/lighting positions etc... I just wanted to hear a few suggestions from everybody as to how they've accomplished realistic effects and such! My goal is to provide the community with the best models I can, and any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I'm trying Razorcane! Things have just been creeping up, like college... I'd be more than happy to collaborate with Kartoffelkuchen though (You can never have enough help)! Send me a PM and let's see what we can work out! Although, if you'd like to make competing rockets, that's cool too!!! One great hint that I was given though, is when you're making stuff in blender, is to make very good use of the "Edge Split" modifier, it always smooths out the edges and gives a better overall look! If there's anything I can do to help, let me know!!!

Well, I'd call today a successful-ish day. I got most of Delta II and III into KSP! Working out some kinks, and adding more detail... However, I am taking suggestions on how to import animations into unity. I've read the tutorials and can't seem to get it figured out... I'll post some pictures a little later on, but I've got some astronomy homework calling my name! Further bulletins as events warrant!
