I start lag with 300 parts, and get very annoyed with 450-500. 8GB RAM, QuadCore i5, and GTX-570 TwinFrozor

How To Rescue a Kerbal?
Akalaël replied to Awesomea1432's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Nothing more to say. The key to rescue is docking, and this is the part the more difficult in KSP. Or you can EVA when your ships are close one each other, but the controlls on EVA are rather difficult I find (I even lean to perform EVA after Learning the docking stuff) Good luck in your attempt comrade -
Are you landing too short ? If it's the case, you sould be able to determine that fact during your descent, simply by looking at the map and tour trajectory. To land further, just stop following the retrograde vector, and go to 90° pitch. This will slow down your descent, and if you have lateral velocity, will make you land futher. Try also to make your desorbit burn further. If you are landing too long, try to make your desorbit burn sooner. If it's the case, you can, as you see on the map you are going to land too far, stay at a pitch of 0°, killing all your velocity vector indicated by your retrograde reticule, and continue to burn in that direction, flipping your trajectory. Then, switch to your new retrograde vector, and land. Of course all this changes of trjectory will burn more fiuel, but there is no good solution there ! As always, the key is try, try, try, try... As you, I couldn't perform better landing than 10km away from my target as I began. Now I am near 1.5km... Ha, one last word : you can install MechJeb. This tool can land ontop of you target. I haven't it anymore (I find it spoils me of the pleasure of the game) but I remember that I had to cut it in emergency, cause this stupid computer was about to land one of my ship ontop of one of my rovers...

How to make that lifter better?
Akalaël replied to Hooch's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Asparagus system is the best way to maximize your efficiency. For your info (if you can spare time now...) Temstar's Zenith Rocket Family Discuss on Asparagus (this time Temstar explaining how he managed to build his rockets) -
I'm looking forward to the mining stuff personally. It will give a sens to the game, I mean, an other sens than going to planets for... er, for just going there at the moment.

Asymetric design stablity
Akalaël replied to lazarus1024's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I prefer pulling than pushing, but seems the same in the facts. An other surprising thing : I saw and tested some sideway docking, it works actually pretty well (don't know the mass you can put actually...) So now, I use the tree ways : pull, push and sideway at once : But the fact rest the same : if you're unbalanced, it's just impossible ! -
All right, whatever it is, I give a pickaxe to Jeb, land him randomly on the Mün, and won't bring him back until he brings me some of this Testium !

How long until you learned to orbit?
Akalaël replied to Spaceisbeautifulul's topic in KSP1 Discussion
The same here. Having an orbit in the right plan, round, took me around one month. But I could perform some very interresting orbits in a few hours (interresting, read : with PE at 70km, AP at 1653km, inclination near 90°) -
I've voted for the LV-N, cause every single vacuum stage I have is equipped with it. For the heavier playloads, I use 3, 5, 7, 9 of them to ensure a good thrust, and therefore a correct time-burn.

:wink:Tylo is a b***h. Hard combination of high gravity and no atmosphere to help in the landing. I remember Scott Manley did a mission there in the 0.18, and his lander was, let's say, bigger than your's

For me, faaaaaaaaaaaar away in front I got WOW, around 10000h (5 years of my geek life) Then probably Skyrim and Final Fantasy 7 (around 300h each), then KSP !

Two men Eve landing and return (image heavy)
Akalaël replied to Temstar's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Perfect, you're a good story teller in addition to your engeenering talent ! With the Skipper added in the 0.2, does your Zenith Rocket Familly will evolve ? (Thinking of certain combinations of 4 LV-T 45 that can be replaced) -
Actually Stochasty did it : http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/29389-Eve-lifter-question But it was with FAR as I recall

That just happened again : I thing I got the point : there is no probe core on the orange tank segment. When all this stuff is linked, I can't separate the small vessel of the tank. I can separate the station of the tank, but not the vessel, whatever the controll is switched to. The option "Undock" is set on the clamp Sr of the tank, not on the one of the vessel. I don't know if I explain well (french here, hard to explain sometimes in English ) Made a bug report too.
-
Don't forget to switch off the ASAS before docking. Apparently it prevents the docking. Talking about those, does anyone else had the prolem : impossible to undock one of those ports. I had it once, I was just unable to undock, very annoying.

With the new system info, just EVA a Kerbal, then, in the orbit map, clic on the info button. You'll have your answer there. 0.09t.

what kind of parts would you guys want? (beyond 0.20)
Akalaël replied to Veshpa's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I agree ! Thing that I need now is parts making sens to the game : doing sience, search for resources, gather resources, use those resources to... whatever ! -
Large Docking Adapter DOES Help Prevent Wobble!
Akalaël replied to Caelib's topic in KSP1 Discussion
In the VAB you can connect a clamp Jr to a regular one, and it doesn't match anymore once you are in flight... I don't see in the .cfg file nothing different between the large and the smaller ones. In the Berthing Mechanims, the docking ports had BreakingForce and BreakingTorque. I suspect the stability to come from the flat design. -
Tested the large one this morning. With 3 Rocko X200-32, and ASAS, this probe was absolutely unable to stay in position, except with the RCS.

Large Docking Adapter DOES Help Prevent Wobble!
Akalaël replied to Caelib's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I imagine that the unique objective way we got is by the g-forces. Put a mainsail under 1-an assambly of two rocko jumbo linked by your system 2- the same assembly linked by the docking port Sr Throtlle... see when it's breaking. It doesn't actually mesure the wobble but will say something on the stenght of the devices. -
Don't know if it's me or my PC, but I find Kerbal... well, worse looking at than it was in the 0.19... Bit disappointed.

Good Orbit for a space station?
Akalaël replied to Veshpa's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I personnally put in a 150 km orbit. Nice to be able to warp 100x ! -
I did another try, this time with no mod at all. The Circum Thing 2 ( pure stock, MJ is just to see the weigh : 7.12t ) And the results : Time 2008 seconds ! Achivements : Oh, so close: crash landed in the KSC zone (-4s) (this time I follow your advice : a proper and nice crach ) Monolithic: no decoupling or breaking off of tanks (-11s) Speed angel: hit a top speed of over 2,000m/s (does not stack with previous acheivement)(-20s) And makes a 1973 sec Don't know if the plane can take place on the "Little Baby" challenge, think it's a bit heavy to figure there...
