Evolution from bacterial life to complex, multi-celled life takes millions of years. Not a few thousand. If those engineered bacteria do indeed evolve this fast and form a totally new and uniques strain of life I guess it would be called Martian life as it is neither alien nor truly terrestrial.

Quantum strut might not be really necessary, I use Kerbal Joint Reinforcement. If you upload a version without Quantum Strut and Nav Lights I could check if KJR is enough.
-
Looks good. But I won't be testing it. I use neither Nav Lights nor Quantum Strut. You forgot to add MechJeb to your mod list. The images clearly show a MechJeb pod. And you could possible eliminate Nav Lights by using the B9 lights instead.

The thread may be dead the mod is not. You should have checked the release thread: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/34664-Large-Structural-Station-Components-20-Compatible-Release-Thread instead of this development thread. For a direct download go to https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/64621786/udk_lethal_d0se.zip. It's fully functional in 0.23 and has proper tech tree integration.

Before take-off (or even in the SPH/VAB) right click the cargo fuel tank and block fuel flow by clicking the green arrow >. You can still pump fuel in or out manually but engines won't.

Stabilizing SSTO spaceplanes during reentry.
Tex_NL replied to Specula's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Unless you're using aerodynamics mods like FAR (and you've already stated you're not) wing shape does not matter. Wing placement however does. Without pictures I can only guess where your problem originates but I do have an idea. It has probably to with CoL and CoG relations. At take off I assume your plane flies stable, CoL just behind CoG. But as you expend fuel your CoG will shift. Possibly to behind your CoL. While in space this is totally irrelevant but as soon as you hit atmo again your CoL comes back into play. If it is indeed in front, your plane will almost certainly flip and loose control. To check this drain all fuel tanks in the SPH to the level they are when you reenter the atmosphere and pull up the CoG and CoL markers. With a little luck you can solve your problem simply by moving fuel back to the front of your plane before reentry. -
Call me skeptical but I see a lot of problems with what is proposed thus far. - Dropping nukes to raise the temperature? OK, it might work but you'll irradiate the surface rendering it inhabitable for millennia. - Dropping asteroids to supplement the atmosphere? It will kick up megatons of dust, blocking the already spares sunlight and reducing the temperature. (And it is extremely risky. One minor miscalculation and you'll wipe out all life on earth.) - Moving an entire moon? I don't know what you guys have been smoking but it has seriously messed with your sense or reality. - Biodomes. Finally a suggestion that makes sense. They are relatively easy to build and maintain. And they won't 'waste' resources on area's (continents) you don't use. And now for the final nail to the coffin: There is not nearly enough water on mars to transform it into another blue planet. Both the northern and southern icecaps are between 2 and 3 kilometer thick and contain a combined volume of roughly 3.2 million cubic km of ice. Lets assume we can indeed melt it all. A significant portion of this will evaporate into the atmosphere while another large part will be soaked up by the bone dry soil. Spreading the remaining water over the planet surface will result in .... a muddy puddle and possible a hand full of minor lakes. There simply is not enough water to cover the planet with vast lakes and oceans!

SPACE STATIONS! Post your pictures here
Tex_NL replied to tsunam1's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Your images aren't showing. Use the and to make links and to post images. And there is already a well established thread just like this: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/22251-Showcase-SPACE-STATIONS!-Post-your-pictures-here. Edit: OK, now your images are showing properly. -

IVA crew transfers might be possible if Kerbals are treated as resources similarly to fuel and electricity. Instead of alt right clicking two fuel tanks you could alt right click two crew pods to move individual Kerbals from place to another. But only if there is a clear path between the two places. Obviously Kerbals should not move through things like engines, fuel tanks and girders. Another feature I'd like to see is the ability to EVA any Kerbals from any airlock regardless of that Kerbals location. Unless you've manually told that specific Kerbal to stay where he is or if the IVA route is blocked (engines, fuel tanks and girders, etc.).

bring up nav ball in map view.

Is by any chance your Numlock switched off? -
Why? That's easy: MONEY! Every ad that gets displayed and especially those that get clicked will generate income for SQUAD. It's only a few cents per ad but with large amounts of visitors it adds up quick. P.S. Without this topic I wouldn't even know there where ads on the forum. I run ABP on FireFox. No annoying ads and no nasty pop-ups.

Struts 101-level questions
Tex_NL replied to HoustonDave's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Struts don't have mass or have any effect on aerodynamics. When in doubt add more struts! I can think of only two minor side effects struts can possibly have: Aesthetics, they can severely impact the look of your craft and they add more pieces in the physics calculations, possibly reducing your FPS. To improve joint rigidity without the need to 'over strut' try Kerbal Joint Reinforcement. -
How much will this game be on full release?
Tex_NL replied to LostElement's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Straight from the Terms of service: By purchasing Kerbal Space Program, you are entitled to the following: - Access to the software in its current state. - Access to all updates for the software. By 'updates' we mean software updates including content, features and bugfixes, released as a new version for the same title, before or after the official ("1.0") release of the software. If you've purchased KSP before May 1st, 2013, you are entitled to the above, plus any Expansion Packs released for KSP. By 'Expansion Packs' we mean software released as a separate title, but that requires and ties into the original KSP software to expand the game by adding content, features and bugfixes. -
MBAM, absolutely a good one. I find it a bit less user friendly than AVG but it did help me get rid of a very nasty DNS changer virus once. All my web traffic was re-routed making it impossible to run virus updates or download specialized tools. All except in safe mode. And AVG was not able to remove it in safe mode. MBAM however does have full functionality in safe mode.

Why does helium make your voices high pitched?
Tex_NL replied to Deadpangod3's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Helium is significantly less dense than air. As a result, the speed of sound is much higher in helium. By inhaling helium you are effectively increasing the speed of the sound of your voice. If you would inhale a heavy, dense gas like Sulfur-hexafluoride you would get a low pitched voice. But fore more details I'd suggest you try this link. Edit: Ninja'd -
Staying 'clean' is actually pretty simple. You only need two or three things: 1: A healthy dose of common sense. If you don't know who send it to you? Don't open it, scan it first! 2: A proper anti virus tool. It doesn't have to cost you and arm and a leg. AVG Free is more than enough for private use if you know what you're doing. 3: Not a real necessity but very useful, an pop-up blocker. ABP (Add Blocker Plus) for Firefox kill nearly all adds and pop-ups before they become active. Personally I am not overcautious at all. I regularly download torrents, use crack tools and only use the free AVG edition and ABP for Firefox. Two or three times a year I get an alert from AVG it has found/blocked a serious threat. And only once every few years I get an actual infection.

A general rule of thumb: Website pop-ups telling you you've got a virus are FAKE! And even IF the pop-up is legit, by clicking [OK] to download the suggested tool to 'remove' them you're probably doing more harm than good. If you can't kill the pop-up without clicking [OK] go to task manager and kill you're browser process instead. Then do a complete virus scan with your regular antivirus tool.

Keep them as they are. People complaining they are not strong enough should get their facts straight. Compared to real life KSP ions are seriously OVERpowered! Nerfing them to real life levels would make them unusable, as they are now they can at least be used to some effect.

Strut Gun and Extra parts part?
Tex_NL replied to Croak90's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
This has been suggested on numerous occasions. I am sure the devs are aware of this request. In the past it has been modded a few times too: Docking Strut, Quantum Strut and Kerbal Attachment System. The first two are abandoned and won't work in 0.23. KAS however does.
