  1. I've use the one I linked in my earlier post. And that one DOES work.
  2. I don't know where the idea comes from they don't work anymore but that is complete bull crap. They work just fine.
  3. 'Not again' you might think and you're right. Landing on top of the VAB and SPH with landers, helicopters and VTOL's have been done countless times. This time it's gonna be a wee bit more difficult. I challenge you to land with a fixed wing airplane. No chutes, no downward facing thrust, just good old fashioned wings. First 2 times I merely touched the roof but had to go-around. 3rd time I almost made it but fell off. 4th I came in too low and clipped the roof. On the 5th attempt I nailed it: Purely for bragging rights let's see if you can do it too.
  4. The Spaceport is a mess. Too many mods have way too many tags making it nearly impossible to find anything unless you know exactly how and where to find it.
  5. Even X shaped couplers will eventually wobble just as tri-couplers as there will only be one main connection. Best solution to eliminate wobble is struts. Both 'Docking Strut' and 'Quantum Strut' do that job nicely.
  6. Due to the limitations in the game-engined you can not! Creating the illusion of a closed loop with struts is currently the only way.
  7. He didn't ask for Quantum Strut. He asked for Docking Strut. Simply searching the SpacePort for 'docking strut' would have found it on the second page.
  8. Turns out it does NOT return to center on its own through the weight of my plane. My bad. But once you set the rotator to 'return to center' it does return automatically.
  9. That nose-wheel steering is fragging brilliant. I implemented it right away on my latest plane and it works like a charm. Best of all it doesn't even need a return to center while still on the ground. The weight of the plane combined with the tilt is enough to center it as soon as I let go of the steering keys. If you're using ram scoop intakes you can attach the avionics to one. It snaps easily in the center and still looks OK.
  10. Thanks to FireSpitter I've been able to design this UAV beauty. It may sound contradictory but it is both extremely agile and very stable. Powered by 12 PB-NUK's and piloted by MechJeb this baby can fly indefinitely and it really wants to. At full throttle and full pitch it can be airborne before the first 'zebra crossing' on the runway. And thanks to the air brakes, linked to the wheel brakes, it also stops on a dime. Now I just need to send it to either Eve or Duna.
  11. Look for the island east-south-east of KSC. There you'll find a gravel airstrip, control tower and a few hangers. (Don't forget to go EVA and explore. )
  12. Indeed it isn't. Visibility is extremely poor and it's rather unstable. On the other hand, it is insanely over powered end therefore for a prop plane freakishly fast.
  13. Last time I was unemployed (about 5,5 years ago) I was offered schooling for free. I didn't even have to ask for it, they asked if I was interested. Of course I was; it kept me busy and improved my chances finding a new job.
  14. Totally true. To pay a person benefits costs a certain amount per year. Setting up a business, managing that business, paying wages and paying benefits to those now unemployed due to false competition costs a lot, lot more. In the end everything revolves around money.
  15. Thanks a lot. It worked like a charm.
  16. Yes it does require intake air. It doesn't matter what kind of air it is. But you do not have to add a separate air intake. The kethane turbine comes with its own intake.
  17. I know it doesn't alway look the best but you might consider running some struts. AFAIK struts don't have mass/drag but do add strength.
  18. Sometime before the big crunch I read something about how to re-size parts. Too bad I can no longer go back there and check what was said. I tried to change the "scale = " part in the .cfg file but all that did was change the attachment points and absolutely nothing to the part. Is there a way to re-size parts by editing the .cfg files or is my memory letting me down?
  19. Before you start pointing fingers at others Pug, I'd suggest you first take a long hard look at yourself. You perfectly know what I am talking about. Grow up and get a life.
  20. Few weeks ago I drove an unmanned rover all the way east to west through that canyon. It was an epic journey but I have no desire to ever repeat it.
  21. Make sure you are not throttled up. Press your X key (default) to set throttle to 0.
  22. I ran into exactly the same problem. The pack lacks a part that reverts the S2 wide body back into the regular S2. In basis the intake piece in reverse with attachment points for engines.
  23. You guys might want to look into http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/mk3-fuselage-expansion-pack/ Among others it offers Mk3 fuselage with fuel AND oxidizer. (http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/mk3-crew-cabin-fuselage-c7-style-for-0-18-2/ is a good supplement to the previous mod mentioned.)
  24. How many pieces of debris would be considered a ring? 1? 100? 1000? It's pretty easy to get a lot of debris into orbit. Simply launch a few dozen light weight decouplers/seperators and stage them. Instant debris cloud.
  25. Here's a nice one for you to consider: Ornithopter wings Preferably electric. Medium amount of lift when not flapping, thrust and additional lift dependent on throttle (flapping speed)
