  1. Or we could just assume an honest mistake (not noticing the edit button, for instance), rather than jumping straight to hostilities. Sure, the topic may not be the most pleasant for you, but that doesn't warrant accusing a new user of trolling over that, so stay nice to each other, folks. I'm closing this thread now. FEichinger
  2. You can rotate your view when building, though. Which is absolutely enough to correctly identify the orientation.
  3. Hello there As has been noted, this is a suggestion and as such belongs into Suggestions and Development Discussion. However, it is also on the What not to suggest? list as "Child assemblies / subassemblies". This is because it has been suggested over and over again. Everything that is to be said has been said, and the modded functionality is a great way to come by until something of the like becomes stock. Moving and closing. FEichinger
  4. Hello there Joke or not, you should be well aware by now that this falls under our Forum Rules: Necessary action will be taken, including closure of this thread. FEichinger
  5. Alright, I've watched this for long enough. I'm gonna ask you only this once to calm down. Yes, you're disappointed that this was removed, I get it, but that doesn't justify constant rage and complaints. Show some patience and either wait for Squad to take care of it - or change it yourself (or get someone to help you change it) - this would be a simple part mod, nothing else. Posting what amounts to "Waaaaaah change dis nao!" isn't getting you anywhere and it's just disrespectful to everyone involved. FEichinger P.S.: For the record, this is in reference to both the title's phrasing and the specific mention of "rage/protest" in the post body - and all of this on top of the contents of the previous thread.
  6. Don't forget that you can downgrade to the previous stable (and therefore restore the old behavior in a personal mod, if you like).
  7. Well, there's also the point that it may not even survive that long, before turning or collapsing into Kerbin. It's a really interesting fringe case to see what a) the physics do with this and how far we can go.
  8. I'd recommend posting that as a Challenge. Let's try and find the longest ring segment in a reasonably stable orbit around Kerbin, how about that?
  9. Hello there Welcome to the game and community. Be sure to check out our German Forum section. Glad to see you choosing to support the game even at the opportunity not to. I will, however, tell you not to discuss piracy any further than this, as it violates our Forum Rules. FEichinger
  10. Hello there As has been noted, a new game engine is not an option and has been suggested over and over again no less - That's why it ended up on the What not to suggest list. I'm closing this thread now, and I'm asking you to read through that list - and perhaps some search results to "new engine" - first for other such topics and for explanations. FEichinger
  11. I'll talk to the others about building some sort of proper FAQ for the forums (Or at least links to the forum's own FAQ). FEichinger
FEichinger
  13. It was merely closed and it has already been reopened. Explanation is also in the thread. FEichinger
  14. Very much so. And (but that's a different topic entirely) vBulletin is a Web Dev's nightmare anyway.
  15. Hello there Sorry for the closure, folks. That wasn't intended. The forums have some nice shortcuts for closing threads - one of them is a double click on the icon at the front in the thread list. I was using the touchpad on my laptop a lot recently, so I guess I fat fingered that a bit. I have reopened the thread now and I'm gonna see that it doesn't happen again. (Usually, when it does happen, I undo it before leaving the page. Guess I missed this one.) Sorry (again) for the inconvenience. FEichinger
  16. Heya there Everything that is to be said has already been said: It's entirely up to Squad and nobody outside can make a reasonable claim about the amount of testers. The quality? Perhaps, but that should be dealt with by posting detailed bug reports, rather than publically discussing the testing team. With that said, I'm closing this thread. FEichinger
  17. And another one ... Merged. FEichinger
  18. And with that, I'm also merging the two. This is very much about KSP, after all. FEichinger
  19. I'm not going to join deep into the discussion, but I feel the poll in particular is rather pointless. Of course not everything has to be Open Source, but there is an inherent difference between Open Source and a publically viewable source - You can still apply any license you like to your work, as long as it complies with the rules (that is, you can definitely keep your property protected, the source code just has to be public). Making the source code public is also beneficial in a lot of regards - protection from plagiarism, as there is clear and definitive proof of "who came first"; protection from malicious code can be collectively investigated by the community rather than having to grind the gears of whatever communication method you wish to use; the ability to develop something to work en lieu with another plugin; etc. Now, there is something to be said about "critical data". Login info and the like. Of course, being able to see how that is handled by a plugin or other application is inherently bad. I doubt that we actually need said critical data, though. I cannot think of a single reason for anyone here to have a desktop application, plugin or mod storing and using critical data like account info of any sort. It makes sense for web services, but that's about it. And even then (and that's something I'm in full support of and would love to see) a centralized user API from Squad's end would be a much better idea than random third parties providing account-bound services into the KSP community. As this probably sounds a lot more formal than I thought it would, do note that my participation in this thread is not in a moderator's capacity whatsoever. I will ask you all to be nice to one another but that's it.
  20. While it would be a lot easier to find, it would also separate the files and directories the application uses. This, generally speaking, is a frowned-upon practice as it reduces portability and spreads the application across the system. *nix-Systems also tend to be partitioned, which then spreads the whole thing across multiple partitions, too. Maybe placing a symbolic link from the respective user directories to the screenshot folder would suffice?
  21. While you are right in saying that the Unity Engine imposes a lot of restrictions, please note: Changing the engine has been discussed over and over again and will not happen due to the massive overhead involved in the process. Squad are working closely together with the Unity developers in getting the most out of the engine, too. Unity also does support PhysX, but an old version in order to maintain compatibility - the version it uses is solely CPU-based, while more recent incarnations would be able to use the GPU (but only nVidia ones) for some physics calculations. That said: Please do stay on topic and avoid turning threads into discussions about the engine - you will just frustrate yourself and others in doing so.
  22. I usually have two sets of panels facing in either direction and a couple of radially mounted ones, so I just retract whatever is in danger and keep the rest for power. As for broken panels... Yeh, that's kinda why I started doing that I think I broke four or six in total, three of them on my first try.
  23. [Operating System]: Windows 7 (32 bit) [Memory]: 4GB (effective 3GB) [ASAS Trouble (Y/N)]: N [Mods installed, pre-patch]: None [Mods installed, post-patch]: None [Description of problem (keep it short)]: None
  24. You'd have to fetch the seat, force EVA on the Kerbal in question, and then make the new Kerbal vessel enter the seat. From what I can tell, it's probably possible, but it needs a lot of dedicated code just for this. Which makes it one hell of a lot more inefficient than using a pod.
