  1. Created the Star Cruiser for deep space exploration. (KSP Interstellar mod plus a few more) A basic nuclear power ship designed for multiple purposes. 1st one going to orbit the Sun. 2nd one will be planned for science collection Jool system. This creation comes with a new start in career mode. Just got to the the technology that allows the ship to be built. Still have a lot of science left on the Mun.
  2. I created a "clean up batter" ship called the "DV-Fusion" based on a previous test using the same design now circling Lathe in the Jool system. The Mods are KPS Interstellar, SCANSat, Beastly Science (The scope for soil sample) and a Kethane scanner. The ship has attached 4 scanning satellites to be deployed later. 2 Tri-Landers capable of 3 mun hops each. 2 remote probe landers (w/ soil sample capability) which can be set down via parachute on an atmosphere world or normal set down on a low gravity body and return. This should clean up getting most science points in the kerbol system with 2 flights ( one away from the sun and one toward the sun). A bit of a massive effort but.... As a note I am getting some cpu crashes with adding the Landers and remote landing probes to the DV Fusion. --BJ Quest Lift off of the DV Fusion Ready for it trip/mission
  3. Thanks for creating the graph on refinery process :-) http://db48x.net/temp/isru-refinery.svg This will help in figuring out the process (steps). Other questions later after I explore more of the process (such as how/where to harvest several elements/substances). Thanks again this does help :-)
  4. Good Afternoon, Created a microwave network (3 orbiting satellites) and then a thermo jet via microwave. Been reading others recent work on this type of jet. My initial result is a very long take off and very sluggish power craft. I have also worked on figuring out what steps (sequence) are need to produce what. Tested using this refinery complex: Has there already been a chart or graft made of the sequence (steps) needed to produce what substance IE. Tritium breading to get H3 (if I read the posting right) Also playing with Anti Mater production - trying to add multi generators to one reactor. not much success.
  5. For a break....Tried out some lighter than air aircraft and the new Kn-2 cockpit. Now back to figuring out how to make and use antimatter...maybe. The Kn-2 I got from the spaceport http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/kerbonov-kn-2-cockpit-module/ The Airship parts from http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/0-22-hooligan-labs-airships/ with some Lack Luster Lab parts. The flight of the "DUCK" and it fly's like one too. Who left the radio on???? http://imgur.com/3lBeNBa
  6. WOW - Great realistic mod. I tried this out last night to see how it works. I did use the ISA mod several KSP versions ago. Very impressive and professional type of work. I do think it enhances the KSP game play. Kerbal and the Mun have been mapped so far. Thanks
  7. Been working with KSP Interstellar. Some nuclear aircraft designs of mine:
  8. Greetings - Been working with KSP Interstellar (Ksp v.23 Interstelar v9.2 mostly career mode) for about a week on and off. I have gotten most engines to work and have also recently operated the Alcubierre Drive on one of my ships. Below is a short list of flying models: http://imgur.com/EknGjQi http://imgur.com/rPcd9ix http://imgur.com/8WZ7upI http://imgur.com/PESLIyc http://imgur.com/zxOaGwo I am having a more difficult time figuring out how to use the ISRU refinery (what attaches to what to get what. Etc.). A good tutorial could be helpful here. I have not tried the microwave power system yet nor got got a working antimatter reactor. So far it has been a good and interesting challenge. Putting the warp to practical use would be part of the challenge. I have not used the chromatography function yet. A smaller size pellet driven nuclear engine might be nice for smaller rocket ships(?) It is quite powerful and long lasting. I do like the mod - one I will be playing with for quite a long time. 9. Created an RLP - that is a "Remote Landing Probe". Using the Beastly Science sample grabber for the first time and MechJeb. All other parts are stock. Plan to test it out on Minmus. The concept is to separate from tanks, land, pick up science + soil sample, return to tanks and then return to Kerbin. This will be my first probe designed to return to Kerbin with all the science collection. The prob will have 4 sample possibilities in most areas. 8 with gravity detection. One test prob and two other probes are in Kerbin orbit ready for the journey.
  10. Worked on making a spacecycle (stock parts + mechjeb) http://imgur.com/95WYyZA and an escape can using LLL parts. I also added the escape can with radar and pulse scanner (LLL parts) to my research space station. I take up some space bikes to the station later.
  11. "SS Research" Version .23 - only MechJeb not stock parts. 3 sections (2 identical and 1 center). Plan to add 2 living quarters w/ Inflatable Habitats sections attached to center section. In orbit t 250K. Center section has an ASAS along with science experiments. Other 2 sections have the ASAS disabled. 18 standard ports, 8 mini ports 12 large ports (4 holding the parts together). 16 large solar panels and multiple communication gear arrayed for optimum use. Added Inflatable Habitat living quarters along with RADAR and Pulse Scanners (LLL Parts) to the station. Will take up some space bikes later. http://imgur.com/95WYyZA http://imgur.com/n5SkhRZ Escape Can (LLL Parts)http://imgur.com/3rczkXv
  12. Further Aircraft development of the Chickadee 2 (now 2b). Take offs, landings and emergency parachute descents are well balanced. Night shot of the plane: http://imgur.com/lSl7h0f Had the thought ( and possible challenge) of building a minimal (parts?, Size?, Weight?, Etc.) aircraft to collect the most science point on (?) kerbin that is possible. If so challenged This would be my entry: With the new engine (R.A.P.I.E.R.) that would put a possible interesting twist to collecting science on(and around??) Kerbin. The Chickadee 2sci fly's and responds just a nice as the normal 2b version. The Chickadee 2b with drop tanks - It Actually works well and clears the runway on take off. http://imgur.com/28zTTle Headed for the Island airport and dropped the tanks. Missed the runway. A bit short. Went back and modified the basic Chickadee. Tried drop tanks which worked well. Tried 2 sets of drop tanks. If one could get the craft off the ground in one piece then a long flight is possible. Went 1/2 way around Kerbin west to east (1 1/2 hour). A polar flight should be possible if one could land safely the plane with 1 set of drop tanks attached. A future test flight will determine that. The plane pitches down with 2 sets of tanks on it needing constant attention to keep it up in the air. Minor adjustments needed periodically with one an no sets of tanks on it. Not bad for a small aircraft.
  13. R.A.I.P.E.R. Engine flight testing. Built 2 aircraft/space crafts for the new engine. Elf-1 (E1) and Elf-2 (E2). Elf-1 took off at 77m/s flew nice. Landed at the abandon airport and back at KSP1 on the runway coasting up to the hanger. Later flight obtained 41K altitude at about 45 degree angle and flew 1/4 around Kerbin. Not bad. Elf 2 took off about 95 m/s. Made orbit by assent angle of about 20 degrees until the oxidizer kicked in. Low orbit of 70-80K until deorbit with a successful landing. a good days work for Jedediah. A nice little engine :-)
  14. First Space Station for 2014. LLL parts, Inflatable Habitat parts, NP parachutes (on the 3 escape pods). Holds 64 (36 places for escape pods). 4 standard docking ports. 3 mini ports and 1 large docking port on the bottom allowing for expansion. Docking the escape pods was quite a tight fit - but with some maneuvering it worked. Expandable Living quarters added to sides and science added to bottom. Station is complete.
  15. A space fighter (DVF) departing an orbiting space station (SSDV-E) with 4 small escape pods (holding 12 kerbals each). Escape pod is the cube in the center of the space station. LLL parts for station and ship and DV parts for power of DVF. Docking the DVF on the side is a tight fit but possible.
  16. Mobile Command Center (MCC) after a day of field testing. LLL parts with standard parts.
  17. 4th Seat Testing Bob to Jebediah: "Are you sure this 4th seat option is a good Idea"? Jebediah: "Sure ... That is why we sent Bill out to test it.... Just wait and see". Bill: "That was Great!... Again?"
  18. Went back to v.22 and messed around with some add on's. MecJeb, LLL, Fusion Pack. Created a nice orbiting space station (DV-SS): and several ships (DV-SV, DV-F): http://i.imgur.com/8gx24K5.png http://i.imgur.com/y653AsT.png
  19. Version 23 - 2nd career mode try(no mods) Created the 1Bt ship. 3 temperature sensors, 3 goo clipped in, and 3 materials modules clipped into the fuel tank. http://i.imgur.com/wequkEW.png This was the basses for developing a lander ship (Tri-Lander) that could hop at least 3 times on the Mun and Minmus. Added 3 pressure sensors, 3 acceleration sensors, and 13 Gravitational sensors (Should of added 15). The Tri-Lander-13 made the first landing journey to Minmus to measure all gravitational fields around the sphere and did 2 hops. Results of science where 2171.5 points. Could of done 3 hops but used up one too many of my Gravitational sensors to make good use for the 3rd hop. A good effort for Bill K :-) The Tri-Lader-13: The results page for the trip: A good day in Space -BJQ Created a larger version of a rescue ship. Field tested and ready for first mission. http://imgur.com/zwWZG7e Created a compact orbiting wayside-rest-communication node and fueling station (U2). Version 23,no mods. Would be able to put 2 together if a larger wayside station is needed. Thus ends the 2013 year. :-)
  20. Multi Probes in v23 Been trying to maximize science with multiple collection before coming home to kerbin. Multi Probe is a work in progress. sorta works but needs improvements - further development. Concept - one launch and many targeted (5) landing sites GravMax Probe allows the collection of a lot of gravity field science of Mun (high and low) in one pass. Then one to Minmus plus a trip to High sun orbit then back to Kerbin. I like the design. Pictured is upgrades version (16 gravity measurements). Applying similar concept to the Mun lander design. Pictured Mun 3 in orbit ready for trial run. Mun 2 successful land and return from Mun and Minmus. Mun 3 - Science Points 988.8 achieved (2 hops in most cases) Mun 4I (improved structure w/ orange tanks as boosters) Minmus 1238.4 Science Points (3 hops are possible) BJQ
  21. K series of probes (K-10) launching. Sand lot version w/McJeb Spider Probe (slime down K type prob) w/2 side glob containers attached: With Ion engines as final propulsion and being light weight they can travel and move very long distances. :-)
  22. Since the flight path lined up well - did a flyby of Ike before landing on Duna. Landing not so well but enough for about 3300 science points this flight.
  23. Approaching Laythe with small multi probe ship. Landing with one of the probes. Did not want to miss this shot. If one could have better control I could have reached 5 of the 6 moons from this ship. 3 small probes are currently making a huge orbit around the sun and with luck will visit the Jool system in the far future. Perhaps I can fly by and or land when that times come for a few more moons.
  24. I like the small prob (post #3503) so I did likewise times 7 on a rocket bound for Jool. I do not know if it will work but experimenting can be fun.
