Added to my Ball Prob Delta craft, side drop fuel tanks, to get as much fuel up in orbit as possible for light parts rocket - science mission(s) challenge. A lot of parts and boy did it grow in size - but it works :-) Achieving orbit with lots of fuel to reach the other planets and moons. -BJQ

This is my first Idea/submission for challenges. My Idea is to see how many planets/moons one can get science from using only light rocket parts (no heavy rocket parts, No Mods) in career mode. See tech tree below: The first to do all planets/moons (including the Sun where possible) would be the winner in various categories: Prob flyby's/returns with science recorded. Prob landings/returns with science recorded. Maned flyby's/returns with science recorded. Maned landings/returns with science recorded. My question would be does this make a good challenge?? I have been having fun seeing how far and how many science point I can reach/get with the limited tech tree. I have been liking the ships/rockets I have designed to get to various places. BJQ

Mun-Two first visit in a new career mode to the Mun. Worked quite well. Orbited the Mun equator once then polar orbit many times getting EVA reports over the different regions of the Mun. Having two Kerbolnauts (Bill and Bob) gather EVA reports help with the science points. Just got the stationary solar panels before launch. No struts yet. Landing went well but missed the badlands as that was my target. Actually I was lucky to get back to Kerbin :-) The view before Launch. Mighty tall for limited part selection. Bottom bows out when it is launched but it holds together.
-
Not quite a hole in one but a successful putt :-) I will be able to do science and survey both objects then drop the prob on Duna. Yah!
-
The L6 lander series. A bit odd looking but works well. One last Mun hop before heading back to Kerbin. And Bill did make it back :-)

Easter eggs and points? I have only visited 2 Easter eggs (on Kerbin) in v22 so far. Without add ons it is a lot harder or time consuming to get to the various Easter eggs. It appears that there are no earned science point associated with doing this. Is this correct for all Easter eggs? -BJQ

Science in Sandbox?
BJ Quest replied to Javster's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
( A re-posting of science sandbox use?? ) I hope you do not mind. I have played through the career mode tech tree (v.22) and find it fairly well balanced. I like it. With that in mind - it would be interesting and useful as well as instructive to have the research center in the sandbox mode active where one could click on the technologies one wants and according have those parts available for use in building. One could then build a ship based on the technology/science one has chosen. Perhaps build ships according to different tiers etc. If one has built a rocket/lander/probe that has non selected parts then that ship would not be loadable from the assembling buildings (as it now done). One could then select the different technology advancements and tree line(s) that would allow that ship model to be used/built. Do you think that would be a good use for the research center in the sandbox mode? Perhaps required science points could be listed to achieve that selected line of technology on the technology tree. BJQ PS: Another idea I am thinking about (career mode): Using the research center to keep track of amount of science points (or percent) obtained from the different areas where points can be obtained from. Perhaps once visited that area wold show up with science points (or % of points) obtained from it. Is the idea viable - usable ??? -

The launching of my standard Mun/Minmus landing craft. Version .22 career mode. I get about 3 hops around the Mun before heading home with just the center section of the lander (science stuff). Works quite well. Will need to rethink on how best to gather science - redesign craft for that???? Earlier lander version that worked well before gaining more science/tech. http://i.imgur.com/TatNoXm.png BJQ Probe for science exploration: http://i.imgur.com/MsJXc4c.png Successful landing of the probe: http://i.imgur.com/0ytop5t.png Drop Tank Lander: http://i.imgur.com/zUK9EQu.png http://i.imgur.com/AIVQ1AV.png

Good Morning All, I have tried the .22 version of KSP career mode. Interesting (In the good sense). Went through 3 levels of science exploring what can be done and restarted once, reaching level 4-5+ level of science so far. Launching, orbiting and flybys of the Mun and Minmus are no problem. Landing on Mun and Minmus almost no problem (crash of 1 type of lander needed to judge decent rate). This is quite an improvement. Up to ~85% from 50%. http://i.imgur.com/TatNoXm.png Understanding how to locate Bio-domes is fuzzy (and keeping track of where one has been). Are there maps accessible and if so how? Hopping around the Mun (3 times) and then back gave me 300+ science points in one trip. I did that again later. [960+ on a later trip/game] Understanding when to collect/transmit science/date would be useful. something I guess I will have to discover along with developing a KSP research methodology. BJ Quest PS: A very good evolution of the game/program :-) Probe for exploration of science - http://i.imgur.com/MsJXc4c.png Landing of the probe - http://i.imgur.com/0ytop5t.png Obtained lots of data/science point by going to Duna, Eve, and Joel. Crashed on Duna and missed orbit/decent to Joel (miss manged fuel). Got 2184 science points on one probe trip. That open up a lot of technology.

SPACE STATIONS! Post your pictures here
BJ Quest replied to tsunam1's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Nova Star The largest craft I have built so far yet it still can be expanded: Can hold 533 kerbals, 8 large escape pods/ships, 12 observation decks, Etc. The computer is slowing down so... stopped adding on for now. BJ Quest -
What is the largest space station you have ever built?
BJ Quest replied to LostElement's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Largest by number of occupants.... Tri-X (154 places for kerbals) UOS (278 places for Kerbals) Putting the UOS together http://i.imgur.com/R1ijjPM.png BJQ USP-Core; One that I started but not built on. Got it into orbit in one piece (32+ orange tanks ,16 - large standard engines). Many ports to add to it (24 +). A potential of housing 500+ Kerbals. Moved on to building a deep explore ship out of standard parts called bucket ship. -
Transporting and having fun with the X-rover on the Mun. BJ Quest The landing was quite destructive - no survivors - but boy did it go fast down the hills.

A series of space stations and station ships that I have been working on. They might be of interest to others. To save space I have included the links without the img tags. Hope you enjoy :-) BJ Quest KMD-80d http://i.imgur.com/ONcom4k.png UOS http://i.imgur.com/vrrlRdM.png UOS-Mating http://i.imgur.com/R1ijjPM.png Star Station-b http://i.imgur.com/DaU0oyQ.png Star Station http://i.imgur.com/xCHnxyT.jpg Station K http://i.imgur.com/0cFCmnD.png Tri-X b http://i.imgur.com/F5F7T43.png Tri-X c http://i.imgur.com/4Z3xgLI.png Tri-X http://i.imgur.com/9l4hH3A.png -

80 max occupancy exploring space station/ship. Handles nicely and appears to be well balanced in many areas. Pickup a kethelane miner/lander ship and it should be good to go to explore the kerbal system (I hope) with a bus in tow. View from the rear. http://i.imgur.com/dhYcGuu.png Picked up a Kethane miner (on the nose of the KMD_80). Flew to orbit around Minmus. BJQ -
Jeb takes a new class on their first orbital flight. A little excitement in the new bus/transport. The landing was spot on this time. Development took a bit of time to get it just right. BJQ - Used parts from FusTek. Included a winch (KAS) inside the docking bay doors along with other parts.

BJQ Updated Space Station "K3" Been thinking of putting one around the Mun??? Mun Station "K4" up and running :-) http://i.imgur.com/FPR3Wp8.png Created a different type of space station (EX-Station): http://i.imgur.com/s7MN0Ib.png Fully functional - 109 Max population. I have not done craft files yet. Where is a good place to go to create the files (w/o signing up for service)? Included a view of the basic space truck vehicle. Powered by 6 mainsail engines (drop 2 at a time) and one center skipper engine. The "truck" is quite a workhorse around the orbit of kerbin. Add a sphere fuel tank and it refuels most of my crafts in orbit around Kerbin. Note:I set the skipper to fire at stage 3. This add enough boost to get it into orbit to complete whatever mission is assigned to it. Engine run sequence 6, 4, 3, and then 1. For heavy loads one could add to top booster tanks and add solid boosters to bottom and outside of booster tanks. A very adaptable craft :-) BJQ Truck with engine to mount: http://i.imgur.com/ySTaXzr.jpg Truck with a housing unit to mount: http://i.imgur.com/uGzL0uk.jpg -
Successful landing and departure from Eve. BJQ I was trying out the add-on with Deuterium Fuel. Overpowered and too much fuel efficiency. I have since removed the add-on from the game data directory. I offer my apologies for any offense.

Show off your Kethane Mining Designs!!
BJ Quest replied to Amphiprion's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
My new Miner in KSP version .21.1.2 Orbiting Kerbin ready to go to Mun or Mimnus for testing. BJQ The new miner tests out just fine :-) Added 2 spherical tanks to the side of the main fuel tank - this works out well. :-) I can process much more fuel/Oxygon/RCS gas etc. BJQ -
Started version 21.1 today. Mapped for Kethane Kerbin, Mun and Minmus. http://i.imgur.com/XAF4mOn.png Landed Charlie Kerbin on Minmus, Bill Kerman on the Mun with Jedidiah and Bob Kerman piloting a truck/tanker in High Orbit above Kerbin. Landscape is much more detail or crisp. Nice :-) BJ Quest

Landing a rover on Jool It lasted for a short period of time. - BJ Quest

Orbited (and kethane mapped) Gilly. The last object to orbit in the kerbal system. Laythe and Vall will be the last to map for Kethane. Mapping Jool?? Dropping a rover on nearly all will be possible do to ship design. Lost rover to Moho do to lack of fuel. Bob may be stuck in the Jool system until a refueling ship can be sent. So much for KSP Ver.2.02. Learned a lot. Took much too much time.. - BJ Quest. Rocket ship design for mapping kethane and dropping a rover after mapping. Finished mapping Laythe and Vall. Attempted rover landing on Jool. It survived for a short time. Jool mappable at 250,000k but will be tight tolerances. Jool does strange things to crafts if on (if that is the way to say it) the surface. Anyway all have been visited. Orbit around equator and poles (except Jool). Mapped all for kethane (except Jool) and will be able to place a rover on most if enough fuel in decent. 8-14-2013 : BJ Quest. PS: Bob Kerman still orbiting Bop and short on fuel.
