  1. Just a lander with Bob outside of it. I loaded the game and went to control the craft from the tracking station......and that happened.
  2. Gentlemen, I have called you here and explain why we are no longer going to the Mun. As you can see from the picture, this....thing continues to grow. We believe by the end of the week it will have covered the mun. We caution anyone traveling Minmus to avoid the mun. These picture were the last transmission from the munar lander before its destruction. We do believe Jeb will return to us, he always does in our hour of need. <iframe class="imgur-album" width="100%" height="550" frameborder="0" src="http://imgur.com/a/vKFRR/embed"></iframe> ....I told Bob not to eat the glowing Mun rock.
  3. Two mods I have a love/hate relationship with. Remotetech and ECLSS. Not because of the difficulty they add to the game, but how badly the two mods completely kill my FPS when used together.
  4. Sigh How many times are we going to have this same topic. Its an endless cycle.
  5. 1/10...I think Ive seen you. I know I've met a relative to you around Jool....
  6. Urban_K, that thing is beautiful. I really like this challenge. I keep coming up with designs.
  7. The test flight is complete and now I just need to go take screen shots of it in flight Update: Flight complete and album up
  8. Just thinking. what if our little kerbalnauts had classes like in rpgs. Where they would gain levels and small advantages with each level. Jeb: Test Pilot, allows engines to be slightly more fuel efficient Bill: Scientist, gains a small increase to science points gained for being on the vessel. Bob: Lucky, slightly increase to crash tolerance of parts. Any other ideas?
  9. Bill: So you thought it was a good idea to build a shelter in case we got stuck. Bob: Yep Bill: And then you got yourself stuck Bob:Yep
  10. Here's a question. If some friends and I built, lets say a working replica of Gemini, would they launch it? This is assuming that SpaceX already has a man rated launch vehicle and they would let me be the command pilot. Or would I be better off just getting the Russian's to do it?
  11. Kerbal figurines? If so...my daughter is going to have a very kerbal Christmas
  12. Docking ports are androgynous. You just have to place them facing each other and they will dock. You can also, while in VAB, use them like standard decoupler by stacking things on top of them. For Example. In the picture, between the space lab mock up and the CSM is the smaller docking port.
  13. At the moment, you cant transfer experiments from command pods. There is a mod that will let you do that. I personally haven't used it. I just ended up rescaling one of the storage crates that came with KAS and added the function for storing experiments to it. There is also a mod that adds a part that does the same thing.
  14. Right now, career mode isn't anything more then sandbox with parts restriction. So I can't say that it is boring, more that it inspires a sense of incompleteness that will fade as development of it continues. Until then, mods can enhance it greatly. KSP Story Missions, remotetech, and such can give it a more complete feel. Still, can't wait to see the direction they plan on taking it from here.
  15. Its just a way that waiting could be used to enhance gameplay. I kinda wish Squad would release something that would give us a bit more details on the mechanics they have planned for career mode and how they would all fit together.
  16. The first xcom alien encounter wait was determine if you could detect them with your radar dishes built in your base. No base with radar coverage, no detection. So you could spend up to several months of ingame time waiting. Just fyi. And considering all the acclaim the first XCOM gets for its gameplay to this day, lets not get into that. Why would you have to wait on both. If you go back and read one of my previous post on in this topic, I recommended using the time for parts to arrive instead of having to wait for the rocket to be built. That way after you designed the rocket, you could just launch it. You just have to use the parts in inventory or wait from the manufacturer for them to arrive. Combine with other aspect of a career mode, like budgeting, mission to gain funding and prestige, and research, this will increase gameplay depth. Example: You set up a mission to gain some science to land on the mun. You order the parts and then time warp for them to arrive. While you were time warping, whatever governing body kerbals have task you with a probe to Duna because the launch window is coming up. Now, you have the budget to order the parts for the Duna mission, but they wont arrive till after the launch window. So, do you use the parts from your mun mission, along with whatever you already have in inventory, to send the probe to Duna. Or do you skip the mission, missing out on the increase in funds to your budget and launch your mun science mission? I don't think you are looking at the wait for parts or rocket manufacturing as part of the whole career mode.
  17. Well maybe you shouldn't be playing a game which is a simulation of running a space program. KSP has always been sold on being BARIS + Orbiter. While currently the Orbiter aspect is pretty far along, we have yet to even touch on the BARIS part. If you are so worried about having to wait, then just play sandbox. Its kind designed for those people who don't have a lot of time to try to manage everything and you can just launch rockets. I mean...did anyone ever complain about having to wait in XCOM? Because you have to time warp between each encounter with the alien forces, while also having to manage all the other aspects of your alien defense force. Budgeting, waiting for research to be complete, equipping your squad. I don't see the difference from having to wait on research to be completed on a Plasma rifle in XCom, to waiting for a rocket to be built, or having to wait for parts to arrive from the manufacturer in KSP.
  18. No, it promotes one to plan ahead and have consequence when they don't, like you are playing a game. You have to warp 3 minutes so the launch window open again. Guess what? You just missed several launch windows to other worlds, the oxygen (or kerbal version of breathing gases) run out on your space station, and you lost all the experience gained by the kerbals living up there. Right now, career mode is nothing more then sandbox with parts restriction and science. There are a lot that has yet to be implemented into it that you have yet to consider when you out right dismissed this idea. The game is called Kerbal Space Program, not Kerbal rocket simulator. Also, He really didn't answer the question at all. The question he answered was if time would ever passed while designing a rocket in the VAB or SPH. .
  19. I really need to go download those two capsules. Stock is looking boring again.
  20. Beautiful Mun Buddy Johno! Umm...can I get a craft file Also, I did two albums of my Apollo like trip. But the trick is, I used the hull cam mod to take the pictures. <iframe class="imgur-album" width="100%" height="550" frameborder="0" src="http://imgur.com/a/qxRfD/embed"></iframe> <iframe class="imgur-album" width="100%" height="550" frameborder="0" src="http://imgur.com/a/zUTiW/embed"></iframe> Edit: I just noticed there is not picture of the launch vehicle. So I fixed that
  21. 17.0 So over a year. So many hours spent flying little green men to other worlds.
  22. Well, if you want to be technical like that. Wouldn't it be Dynasoar style. Also, I'll get a picture of a shuttle using the space shuttle engine mod, so you can use them for an example.
  23. As you can see in this pic, the main engines on the orbiter are angeled through the center of mass. Along with using large SAS systems to help balance the setup and the correct roll angle, you should able to get the Orbiter into orbit. Unless you are doing the challenge with stock parts only, I would recommend using Klockhead Martian's shuttle engine mod. Its engines have a large gimbals along with having a pivot point that will allow you to switch from an angle to straight. http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/space-shuttle-engines/ Otherwise, its a matter of testing the correct angle with the stock engines.
