I played it for a few hours last night and so far I haven't had any issues at all either.

My favorite place to land is this location on Duna: 17° 3' 19" N 85° 27' 51" W It's in the middle of a large crater and from what I remember ( I haven't been there in a while) near a hill but also some flat land and it's near an easter egg.
