Yep. I know right!?! It's supposed to be 2049, if we had developed the technology to make a space shuttle even capable of getting to the Moon, surely there would be better spacecraft available. And that landing.. at very least they could have popped out the wheels, and maybe animated some VTOL jets... Somehow, the rest of the Doctor Who club I'm part of were less bothered by this. There also seemed to be a shot early on that had the world partially lit, despite it being dark later, but at least they got the phase of the moon pretty correct... Though there was sound in space. There seemed to be sound near the Moon you could hear from Earth. It's high time there was a law requiring anyone writing about space things pass a test first.

I am a bit impressed you managed to do that with the one tank of eva- my kerbals tend to float about a bit more, which leads to my preference to using seats. But then, moving from seat to ladder requires more fuel, so maybe this stable timewarp thing is something I should master, when I get around to finishing my ladderforce Jool moons tour.

Parts Installation while on EVA
Tw1 replied to ximok's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Personally, I'd like to see it take just about the whole thing. Especially if the addmodule list was still editable. -
It probably would make sense to announce things like this properly on the forum too.
-
IDK, maybe an extensive test run of 0.25's new features?
-
When the shadows are too muted, there are billowing dust clouds, and they're supposed to be on the Moon. And they arrived in a space shuttle.....

What is the avatar of the person above you saying/thinking?

I made it! It's rather stuffy down here. So warm.... Don't know how much of this I can take..... Gotta do the science.. there's a lot of pressure on me. -
I am beginning to think I've been a little generous on the drive module for the support ship, and am considering re-allocating that one for a moho mission but then again, unplanned plane changes can happen. It's going to be a big mission, with satellites, rovers and everything. I like to travel in style. I am looking forward to its departure.

I have to agree airbus you- it is pretty easy to pull in a lot of funds, once you know what you're doing. It's the same with reputation. I think higher difficulty settings would help here. And, also requiring basic life support and reentry management, that will bump up costs a bit. (E.g., in a sandbox-career hybrid save I made, my Jool manned mission is looking like costing 12 million)
-
Not quite so- in career, you have the constraint of budget. It is 'career' not campaign mode. In career, you can't just do anything, there are costs, consequences, etc. I am one who hopes life-support comes one day. I'd prefer career's difference from sand box to mainly be about having to manage realistic constraints to achieve things, rather than there being a set of things to tick off. That has always been one of the charms of KSP to me. Success or failure governed by physical rules, not arbitrary conditions being met. Career could me mostly like that, but with economic rules, as well as physical ones. I also like regex's idea of campaignish contracts. If they are done as described, it could be better than the existing ones, but not overpower the players own imagination. Though I prefer specific ones than the general "Explore this" ones. One small visit doesn't count as having explored something in my book, plus the more specific ones will have you going there anyway. And for a reason, like collecting data.
-
All the old parts? I would have rathered they just replaced them all, giving the new parts the same internal names as the equivalent old, so craft files would at least be loadable.... Oh well. There's always find and replace. Also, I kind of agree on the cinematics thing. They are awesome, but it's really about time we had a female kerbal, as discussed previously...

Further game development ect.

Ideally, the full game will be an engineering/flight/spaceflight/exploration/management game. -
Not sure what's going on here.
Tw1 replied to BagelRabbit's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
I have also lost craft this way. Do you get endless duplicates when you try to move the shiny bits? That happens sometimes. When this happened to me, I split what I could of the craft into subassemblies, and started again with a new file. -
Nice use of trailer footage. I also like the banners. (though not sure about some of the ones that go all the way across the screen.) This is a good summary of the game, as it is currently.
-
I pretty much agree with everything in this post, and particularly like your idea for procedural exploration. Though, on 0.26's secret feature.... Lots of modeling..... May use code which allows craft to interact with static objects..... Could it be the terrain detail objects?
-
I disagree that a fully structured storyline is needed, part of the fun comes from making it up as you go- generating a kerbal history. But, something that could make it feel more like you're making this history would be ideal. An idea which has come up a few times- newspaper things like they had in some versions of simcity, which comment on your progress. They'd be largely reactive, but contain some speculation about what you would do next. The only end game goal should be creating and running an economic, reliable and productive/awesome space program. Flying kerbals around the solar system, exploring, bringing in data, landing lots of kerbals on other planets, building up their experiences.... Though I agree something needs to mark the end of the tech tree, it, nor having visited all the biomes should seem like and end. A stage maybe, but not the end. Perhaps the tech tree could give you a message saying something like "And that's all the technology we can think of for now. Good luck!", to mark this. Ideally, the game ought to prepare itself to suit the stages space travel is likely to go through. Initially, small, exploratory missions. Eventually, more permanent settlements. Small sample runs become less useful as they become more familiar with each planet.
-
Same here. I find this to be a bit of a problem with. Career. The tech tree is a clear goal type thing to work towards, like occurs in many a game. It's something to focus on, and masks the 'here are rocket parts. There is space. Go!' Impression I recall getting when the game was only sandbox. I think there needs to be better in game reasons given to run the spacey program. If it was my call, I'd have gene or someone give an introduction when you start a new game, giving you some more abstract goals for the space program, such as exploring space.

Landed on Eve, returned to orbit under ladder power.

Eve SSTO: Now with cheaty goodness!
Tw1 replied to GoSlash27's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Ladder Force may be against the rules now, but I made this and am posting it places. (Though I lost a panel in an accident, so it may not have counted anyway.) That's a good point, maybe it's just a style thing? Maybe they got started with email, where generally you do sign at the end? Or maybe even letters... -Tw1 -
My first attempt at a KSP video- unless you count and that ... I welcome critique, though I don't expect this to become something I do regularly...
-
These are actually just life support versions of spherical and toroidal tanks, with a few Lack luster labs windows on.

A discussion about my favorite glitch, and I almost missed it! And here I am sitting on one ready to go. Screw sleep, I have KSP to do! Technically, that flight was hyperedited in. This time I'll get there by rocket, though I have been to Jool with only ladder power. Re Grand tour: Working on it. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/70180-Attempting-to-voyage-through-space-the-Kerbal-ladder-engine-An-experiment-adventure?p=1282498#post1282498 Probably should get back to that, now I have a little time...

They're still going to be there for a while. Welcome to the forums!

Cool! I've been adding parts to my Jool mothership and landers that were forgotten at launch. The kerbals inside are watching TV. The mothership is due to begin periaps kicks for the trip to Jool very shortly. This is despite the fact that the equipment needed for landing on Tylo and Laythe is still being planned and tested. This time saving technequnce, where you get one thing going before it is sensible to do so, is based on the idea of "Fast Tracking", like how [POLITICAL STATEMENT PREEMPTIVELY REDACTED.]

You Will Not Go To Space Today - Post your fails here!
Tw1 replied to Mastodon's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Was testing out the Laythe Ascent Attachment (LAA) for my Jool Moons Modular Lander (JMML)....... Once in the air, I retracted the landing legs, and then: One of the legs blocked an engine on the way up. But next time, I was ready. Made use of the 'feature' to do a quick gravity turn.
