The scientific instuments do work, but no communication. Just right click on them and they show info on temp, strength of gravity, barometric pressure(only reading from this in orbit is "IN VACUUM" but works in atmosphere and on the surface) and can't think what the fourth one does. The antennas unfurl, but no real comms yet with them. Haven't read recent upcoming additions to the game, so I can't say whether they will be used in future updates. I've been launching just satellites for now myself, just for kicks putting one in orbit everywhere I go, just to say, "I was here". And it gives me an idea of how much fuel it takes to get to each planet, moon. The temp and gravity instruments I have on each satellite. They both show readings in orbit. But, that's just how I'm starting out playing.

Great video man. Loved it. Laughed pretty hard at the last one. Like a cork popping out, hahahha.

Interesting. I put temp and gravity instruments on all my probes. I plan on having at least one orbiting every planet and moon. Kerbin, Mun, Minmus, Eve, and Gilly I have probes around so far. Long way to go. But it also gives me an good idea of how much fuel it takes to reach each one if I ever get around to landings.

http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/ Here is where you should be able to find what your looking for. After browsing through this site, you may end up with more than a Kethane pack.

I see a rescue mission in the future.

We are all Screwed:Its the End of the World

I encountered someone like this yesterday and gave him/her positive encouragement that he/she could do what they thought was impossible. I didn't realize it when I viewed the first post by this person, but he/she had posted the same request in four different threads in several areas of the forum. Post said they wanted someone else to do a docking for them. Well, I told him/her I had faith that they could get it done his/her self, and this person did eventually write back and say they did. Anyway, I didn't get rude and tell them to "do it yourself or move on". I could have, but I just wanted to see if this person would even try or give up and they didn't give up. That's good. I didn't waste time with a non-responder. That's what I really dislike. You answer a question or help in someway and the OP never returns to say "Thanks" or anything. Ok, that's all I have to add to this subject. Back to my EVE project. -
I knew you could get it done. My Eve attempts took alot of launches just to get a Kerbin orbit. That was frustrating. Had already been to the Mun and Minumus and was getting pretty upset. All I was really doing different was extra fuel to make the trip but the weight difference was causing the failure. Oh well, live and learn.

Been there, done that. Happened to me adjusting my burn. First thought it was a key setting within the game. Had to google it to figure out what was going on.

I found this. http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/168/d/3/kerbal_map_old_by_imandreasksp-d53uzbf.jpg

This is the SETTINGS.CFG file located in the main KSP folder. Open with notepad to edit. This particular setting is just below the AUTOSAVE_INTERVAL entry. NOTE: Mine is only set to 10 sec, but it probably should be set higher. Figure what may be your average time spent in timewarp and then set the AUTOSAVE_SHORT_INTERVAL to that. I'm gonna guess that it would be about 120 or 2 minutes.
-
If anyone is experiencing loss of frame rate, stutters, this could be a reason for that. Its probably rare to have the game trying to autosave at the same time you are in timewarp, but if it does happen at the same time it could cause stutters or low frame rate while the game attempts autosave every five seconds until you are not timewarping. I changed my autosave interval to 2400 or every 40 minutes, and I doubled the "AUTOSAVE_SHORT_INTERVAL=5" to 10 seconds. It should be more like 120sec or 2 minutes. But since these 2 things happening at the same time is pretty rare, autosave and timewarp, I'm leaving my settings where they are until I experience the stutters again. [h=2][/h]

I know you can get it done, just keep trying. It's a great feeling when you are successful. Much better I think than having someone else complete a first for you. Don't read this the wrong way, I am not trying to be mean in any way. I believe that you can get it done. If it gets too frustrating, just take a break from the game. I was getting frustrated and had crazy thoughts of giving up just because I couldn't get a little satellite to Eve. But when I finally got there, man, now I tell myself, "Ok, you got this, go for something harder now".
-
Yes, congrats. Docking is difficult from what I've read on here. Took me about a week of trying to get a little satellite around Eve, and got all excited when I finally made it. I haven't tried docking yet. Heck, I haven't even put a Kerbal up yet, been putting satellites in orbit to learn about fuel amounts, orbiting, getting to another planet etc...

Oops, double post

Thank you, and I'm going to redesign and try a different lifter. The big orange tank and big rocket engine(sorry, haven't memorized the labels of all these parts yet - ie LV-N)may be too much weight. My upper stage ended up very low on fuel. I made it but now I know if go any further I should increase the amount of fuel on that upper(final)stage. Just in case I make a mistake. I got lucky this time and got to Eve in less than 90 days with correct burns. I might not be so lucky next time.
-
Ok, I made it to Eve with some fuel to spare. Ended up in a unintended polar orbit, but that's fine. I don't what a decent travel time is to Eve, but I made it my first time in 86 days. Not bad for a first-timer with no mods and no math, or am I just kidding myself?? Eve Encounter. I really didn't think I would get one so soon. Figured on a couple more orbits to get one. Accidental Polar Orbit of Eve. Is this normal? I sure didn't intend on polar, but I'm not gonna complain. Colorful.

I do have some downloaded already. Eventually I will try a few. Oh, the M-word. If I absolutely have to use it I will. And let the testing begin:cool: Thanks for all the tips, advice etc...

I'll use this map, thank you, good info to plan ahead, but I'm holding off on the mods for now. Still plenty of changes coming to the game which might make current mods unusable after updates. Kind of a hassle to have to update a bunch of mods after each game update and there are plenty more coming.
-
I thought about getting rid of, but decided to just keep it as my main thruster. Probably to much weight to that thing. I'll try something smaller next time. Testing and trying is the fun part. Thanks for the tip.

Nice job on the lighting on that CUBE. Can you place things on the inside like batteries?
-
Thats good to hear. I'll post another pic if and when I get there. It took about 6 different design changes and many explosions to get this thing out of Kerbin orbit. I owe, I owe, off to work I go. Be back in space tonite.
-
Making my first trip to Eve to put a satellite in orbit and I think I am using the bare minimum to get there. Many designs failed to get my upper stage into Kerbin orbit, but this one in the pics below finally got the job done. Now I'm wondering if I have enough fuel to reach Eve. That is shown in the pics below also. Nuclear rocket is supposed to be more efficient, so I went with that. I know I didn't wait for the proper launch window. Hope this is enough fuel. I have decending node and perigee lined up so that with one burn maneuver I can change the node and orbit. If I have to, I could use the remaining RCS to get an orbit. If I get that close.

Ok, I'll be the first to mention pebblegarden. Unique tutorials with text instead of voice, and calm music in the background. Nice.

Manned Moho Landing

Call me crazy, but looking at this picture I think your staging was wrong. It looks to me like your upper stage rockets fired first and just ripped away from your bottom stage. I don't see any of your lower stage rockets firing at all.
