  1. It should still be possible to keep some kind of balance so they please both newbies and long time experienced players. It wont be good for them if the long term players eventually gets tired because of lacks of challenges or exploration. I myself find that i play this game less and less because i simply dont really have any real challenges left or any places to explore. I know planets and moons are big and that i have not been everywhere, but as it is now there is just not much to do. Not even bases/colonies have a real purpose with the current science system.
  2. They could easily do both if they didnt pretty much set a deadline for final version. I would much rather see them working on it for longer as a alpha so they can add both multiplayer and other features missing like resources. Even though this game is pretty amazing i still think it could be so much more if they spent some more time on it instead of giving themselves a "year" deadline.
  3. The originally planned resources was alot more advanced than the kethane mod. I think the real problem is that they are afraid that it will scare of potential new players by making it too advanced. I really wish they would just make a customized career mode, so that the player themselves can decide if they want to for example use resources or not. I have heard from some people that were at squad at that time that they did not even understand why it was dropped, as this person found that even the early resource system added alot to the game.
  4. I liked their original idea... That they would add new planets that had to be discovered first using for example a probe. But I guess that went the same way as resources :\
  5. The reason I want resources is because it gives you a real reason for going places and making bases. The science is just short term gameplay that can be completed in just hours while something like resources would give you endless hours of gameplay. There is really no reason to go back once you have drained the science biomes. I would even be happy if resources was optional and disabled by default.
  6. I just had a strange bug.. was playing around with some ship at the space center did a eva and then when i did a time warp i saw the ship vanish in front of me. It didnt explode or anything it just simply vanished as if i had ended the flight. Tried to switch back to it but the ship was completely gone. Edit: Seems like it is related to the ball bearing mod i use. :\ For some reason ksp can no longer save if anything is attached to a ball bearing, which i guess is what causes that issue when time warping as well. I know for a fact that this was never a issue with .22 and earlier.
  7. Multiplayer is supposed to be the very last thing they add after everything else has been finished, so there wont be anything else added after that. What I dont get is how they have some sort of deadline at all. The way it was written suggests that the game will more or less be finished sometime in 2014... I dont get why they dont just drop any such "deadlines" fully and just make the game as good as possible before they decide it is done and start working on the multiplayer features.
  8. Sure you havent reached the memory limit with mods?? Because these kinds of things is what happens on my system when i am running out of ram.
  9. That I think would be a great idea.. Being able to do some cost cutting in career mode or something which might increase the chances of something going wrong with those parts.
  10. I would like some randomness as well besides the bugs. Some of my most interesting missions has been when I have had unexpected failures, which sadly does not happen so often now that I am more experienced with the game. But I think it should be optional and disabled by default if they ever added something like that. It is kinda odd how they say no go though, since in early squad streams they actually talked about wanting to add a certain chance of mechanical failures.
  11. But that only lasts for a few missions.. and once you get through just a few tiers you can pretty much go anywhere again.
  12. Duna for me.. Easy to reach, has just enough atmosphere for parachutes/aerobrake, perfect gravity for rovers and easy to get back from due to thin atmosphere and lowish gravity.
  13. Alot of people have been playing it long before it came to steam, so that is entirely possible. I dont have steam and I bet i have spent 1000+ hours playing it.
  14. And even if you are online that steam counter seems very inaccurate. I have seen it suddenly jump up or down tens of hours for no reason with other games.
  15. Just give it a try. It is very rare you need to use cmd/terminal these days with a modern distro like ubuntu.
  16. KSP on WinXP was completely unplayable for me. Kept crashing after a few launches due to memory leak problems when using a 32bit OS.
  17. Most mods worked fine for me. Only one I had issues with was the welding mod, which caused KSP to crash whenever welding a new part. This was many versions ago, so might even have been fixed.
  18. @_Aramchek_ But it does affect performance simply due to reducing disk swapping. I have tried this myself and seen the improvement with my own eyes. 4GB of ram is simply not enough with larger crafts when you have ram heavy OS/drivers running in background forcing the system to swap it to disk which does infact have a negative effect on frame rates, which means you will get a BIT higher framerates if you have a extra gig or two of ram. And again I never claimed there would be any magical doubling of frame rates or anything like that. But lets just say that I have a system than dips to 10-15fps with a 400 part count ship, having more ram might give you an extra 5fps which will be very noticeable improvement in many situations.
  19. I just stated that it will make a noticeable difference if you for example have only 4gigs of memory. I find it hard to believe as well that he can run 250parts ships fine on such a low end system, but it still has a very noticeable effect if you have no more than 4gigs of ram. Edit: This was on a core 2 duo 2.5ghz running win7. After adding another 2gigs of ram there was noticeable framerate improvement with same exact ship running stock KSP.
  20. And what most people dont realize is that KSP is actually multicore.. It just cant handle doing physics calculations on more than one core.
  21. If you have only 4gigs of ram it makes a big difference with larger crafts. Just going from 4 to 6 gigs made the game noticeable smoother even when using the 32bit version.
  22. @EasyAce You can get alot more science if you do science while in orbit around kerbin over different biomes. You would of course either need more than one goo container or a engine to recharge batteries so you can send all that data back. I personally just added a bunch of goo containers and did science/eva above each biome and then stored them for later recovery, which gave me quite a bit of science. After just a few such missions I had enough science for decouplers, which is all you should really need to get to the mun and back with very little problems. Just make sure you aerobrake when you come back to kerbin and you should have more than enough fuel even with a small craft. You have to take some risks though You can never really be sure if your kerbals are safe just like in the real world space program. Sometimes you just have to take some big risks especially early in a space program.
  23. You arent being forced to visit all these biomes. You could easily gather enough science even by doing a few science experiments near space center, then during a atmospheric flight or suborbital flight. After just a few missions like this you should have enough to for example do at least a lunar flyby. My problem was exactly opposite of yours.. It was just way too easy to get to the next tiers.
  24. The only thing I know is that he is no longer with the company.. Rumours says it that he was fired as well...
