  1. And still no confirmation on what will happen to old chase cam
  2. Does not matter since it is completly unrealistic that it has liquid water on the surface when it is that far from the sun. The only way for water to exist that far out in solar system is when it is hidden beneath a layer of insulating ice like for example Europa. And we have the opposite issue with minimus.. It has been said that it has ice, but yet that close to sun that would simply not be possible if it lacks an atmopshere. The surface temperatures would be very high in the sunlit regions and the ice would just sublime and espace into space in no time. So there are plenty of things that are not realistic in this game when it comes to planets/moons.
  3. Yep.. There is so many reasons to keep it in the stock game.
  4. Keep the old locked chase cam as an alternative for us who are dependent on that feature. As I wrote in another thread i posted, it would be impossible to do first person rovers with the new and "improved" chase cam like for example this:
  5. I really miss the old Duna before they "improved" it. It even looked more like Mars back then and was a really good place to use rovers.
  6. But you dont understand that the "improvement" will completely break what I use chase cam for. I can undertstand they want to have this new one, but removing the old one will prevent it from working for other purposes like what I do. I want it to be completely locked to the craft and move with every bump for that first person perspective. They should at very least let us toggle between the old and new one. If this is removed then only way to get what I want is custom fixed camera mods, which sadly makes the game unstable for me. - - - Updated - - - And the "rigidly locked" function is exactly what I need. - - - Updated - - - Here is a perfect example of why I need it to be locked to the vessel: This would simply not work with the new one as the view would move as soon as I turn the rover.
  7. I have seen this question several times and have asked myself but yet to see squad make any comments. Will it be entirely removed or will you at the very least keep the old one as a alternative for us who depend on the old one. I use the chase cam to get proper first person view with for example my rovers, so that i can drive while having a "interior"/dashboard view. If this camera mode is removed entirely then this and loads of other stuff will just not be possible anymore and that will break the game for me.
  8. If only they could answer what will happen to the old chase camera mode... If it is entirely removed and replaced with the new chase cam then that is game breadking for me.. Impossible to get proper first person perspective without old chase cam.
  9. My favorite one since i started playing is .18 that brought the game changing docking ports. Every update since then has been dissapointing for me. Just that one single basic part just added so many possibilities like space stations, ground colonies and transfer of resources from one vessel to another one. We really need a update with a part or a feature that does to the game what docking ports did with .18. I know there is even one hidden feature since .21 or so that could add alot to the game which is being able to turn a part into a rotor or a free moving ball bearing.. This feature can only be enabled by hacking the config files and sadly causes crash with timewarp. Was supposed to be added ages ago, but nothing ever happened so i guess they dropped it. I also have wished for ages that they would add things like transparent panels that can be used as windows, so I can be more creative and actually create my own capsules and so on from scratch instead of having to rely on same predesigned ones. For me these days the creative parts of the game is really what makes me come back, but sadly I feel like i have done most i can with the current vanilla versions. I am not very excited about 1.0 either and fear it is going to be game breaking for me. I for example love making rovers/cars where i build the interiors and use the seats and then drive them in first person using the chase cam for proper first person view. With the new update this is no longer possible since they are changing how the chase camera work.
  10. Which will mean even less ram available for anything else... One of the best ways to save ram is to remove the IVA files as they use ALOT of ram and current version already has significantly increased stability issues with mods thanks to the new features using up most of the ram that 32bit version can allocate.
  11. They have said alot of things in the past that never ended up the way they claimed. Like certain features that should have been included before release, unity 5, continuing to improve 64bit version and that they would add features for quite some time in beta before moving towards full release and so on. My personal feeling is that dropping sales is what is pushing them towards rushing it towards release in the hope that will give them a influx of new players. It does not even make sense for them to release it now as that will affect reviews and it makes even less sense that they are not doing at least a few more beta releases to make sure that the new features they are adding wont cause any issues. Releasing it now will for sure lead to quite a few new bugs with release version which WILL affect reviews negatively. It is also still unoptimized and have some serious bugs like memory leaks which is something that would make sense to fix before release since you wont get a second chance when it comes to reviews. Also it was stated before that they wanted most of the game features to be frozen and finished by release so that things like game saves and mods would not break with future patches. If this is true then they wont really be adding any significant new features or changes and things like unity5 will probably never happen either. If this is not true then it will break peoples save games and mods which is something that players will be less forgiving about now that it is out of alpha/beta. It was only a few months ago that they stated on ksptv stream that they would pretty much cease all other development and concentrate fully on porting it to unity5 as soon as they got their hands on it which they said would mean they could add multicore support. Either they are running out of money or they are really having some management issues.
  12. I have never ever needed to use sepratrons. The TT-70 decouplers have never given me this issue as long as they are placed correctly. I really dont get why people keep using the other ones as they always cause this issue.
  13. There really is no straight correct answer for this one since it depends on the rocket. Some rockets do better with a later gravity turn.
  14. @Barefoot Friar Was of course brake I meant. Thanks for pointing out the mistake.
  15. The old multiwheels mod that came out before official rover wheels had that feature and would also brake so that he speed was kept steady even downhill. I used that and ASAS to basically go from one side of duna to the other which took about 16 hours or so. I basically let it drive for hours while doing other stuff and it mostly kept the heading perfectly and thanks to size and wide wheel base it also could climp quite steep hills without any problems. Sadly the newer version of this mod is completely different than what i remember and does not seem to have this cruise control.
  16. That is definitely true. Gameplay should always be first priority which is what kerbal space so far has done well. But better graphics and more details would have really also helped immersion and such for me. The planets look right now barren and dead even for a "dead planet" so better graphics and more details would have really helped that which would make it more fun to actually explore the envirionments.
  17. Compared to space engineers it comes nowhere close when it come to graphics itself, but they are also very different since space engineers is a scifi building game using blocks. But it really depend on the indie game... There are far worse looking indie games out there.
  18. I find rover to be pretty stable overall if they have wide enough wheelbase and you turn of things like torque from sas/reaction wheels. You can also be creative and improve suspension by using parts that are flexible. I for example made some really nice handling rovers that handle rough terrain by using radial decouplers for extra suspension.
  19. If you steer either left or right after turning of brakes they should disengage much faster.
  20. And that will depend alot on what kind of impression it makes on reviewers. This is why they really should wait until they have it optimized and polished as best as they can. People who buy a early access game expects and understand in general that there can be stability issues as well as save games/mods breaking with updates, but people who buy the final version really does have higher standards as they should have with a game that is supposed to be finished. And with reviews there is really no second chance and they will be losing alot of potential customers if it has mediocre or bad reviews.
  21. And this is exactly why it makes no sense to move out of beta anytime soon. It would make sense to optimize it first and even do the unity 5 port before going to 1.0. It is bad enough that it is unstable on release, but these changes will most likely create new bugs and break save games and mods as well. With a 1.0 release you dont really expect that save games and mods keep breaking with new patches.
  22. I made a similar eleveator.. My big problem was that the wheels/tires would often just pop.
  23. I think the problem is that the new content keep using up more and more memory while KSP is stuck with limitations of 32bit. :\ I really wish they could just load whatever content on the fly when needed instead of loading every single part and texture into ram each time you start it up.
  24. I use chase came all the time to get a first person perspective when for example roving, so they better now remove it entirely. They should just add another camera option while still leaving the old one in there.
  25. I have never really noticed a big improvement that way compared to using 7200rpm hd. Might make a difference with heavily modded KSP, but otherwise the hard drive really does not seem to be much of a bottleneck when it comes to loading times. I even tried putting it on a ram disk and it made very little difference and the little difference it made will not make a difference on second run if you have loads of ram like me and have it cached in memory most of the time. But with a slower laptop disk running at 5400rpm will probably see a huge improvement with ssd or if you have only 4gigs of ram. If you have a decent hard drive and 8gigs of ram or more then there really is not much point in getting a ssd just for KSP.
