Kethane Pack 0.9.2 - New cinematic trailer! - 1.0 compatibility update
gilflo replied to Majiir's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Thank's for update -
I have 7 unknown object in my tracking station. When I click on the ?, nothing happens, no objects appears in the left column to be listed, I right click, I left click, nothing happens at all. No list of the seven object I could select to track.....O.23.5.464 What is wrong ? Do I have to build something special before for those unknown objects to be listed?? I can't select anything.

Hello is the velocity curve based on orbital speed or on horizontal speed? In deep space, with an orbital speed of 8500m/s, my Bussard Ram jet give 10% of max thrust, that is only 100KN......

SPACE CENTER IS SENDING A SHUTTLE TO EVE ORBITING KERBIN, 3000DV for the Pusher that delivers the Shuttle ORBITING EVE and AEROBRAKING TO ESTABLISH ORBIT FAIRINGS JETTISSON DOCKING APPROACH THE CAN IS DOCKED TO THE SHUTTLE The shuttle can Handle 3 cans. The pusher as got 1300DV left and the shuttle got 3000. More than necessary, but it decreases rapidly if we had heavy cans TO BE FOLLOWED...... A second Rescue lander has been sent to Eve, because we have another Kerbal to rescue. Then, when both cans will be docked, we will make our way back to Kerbin

Take off was not a success. The lander has not enough DV to fly to an orbit from this altitude of 4100m A new design has been studied and a new lander has been sent. See here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/74221-The-Rescue-of-Maldous-Kerman

Maldous is stuck on Eve after successful landing with a broken lander. This was my first landing on Eve. The goal was to land on Eve highest mountain and du to an accident during stage separation, the lander lost 3 tanks and engines and did not land on this mountain. See here the first rescue mission that was not successful, the rescue lander did not get enough DV for take off Here on the top of the ascent vehicle is the rescue lander 179T on landing only with chutes (4,5m/s at 4000m), )chutes system with 186 MK2+6 lighter MK1 and 12 MK25. All 60 gears and all chutes ejectable before take off. Asparagus stages. 129T on take off 9250 DV on ground, 10550 in Vac. LAUNCH and ASCENT to Kerbin orbit Without fairing With fairing LAST STAGE TO ORBIT LEAVING KERBIN 450T in orbit We arrive on Eve and use aerobraking to establish orbit AROUND EVE. We have 3 stock engines below the lander with 700DV to establish landing, it's more than necessary. DESCENT TO EVE LANDING SITE ATMOSPHERE BREAKING EFFECT REACHING 24KM HIGH JETTISSON FAIRING 11000MABOVE GROUND SEPARATION OF LOWER BREAKING STAGE 8500M ABOVE GROUND OPENING CHUTES AT 3000 ABOVE GROUND COMPLETE OPENING OF ALL CHUTES AT 500M JUST BEFORE TOUCHDOWN SUCCESSFULL LANDING: On the right, the broken lander, with Maldous, on the left, the first rescue lander, not enough DV MALDOUS HAS REACHED THE VESSEL Climbing to the capsule TAKE OFF: EJECTION OF GEARS AND CHUTES AND FIRE BEGINNING ASCENT: Orbit 100km; Gravity turn 27.5 km; Turn Shape 50%: I DID MANY TRIES and THIS CONFIG GIVES THE BEST DV LEFT in ORBIT STAGES SEPARATION: untill 6000m we got hardly a speed of 60-70m/s Starting TWR must be at least 1.55, it grows to 1.7 when burning fuel, then decrease to 1.45 at stage separation, then grows to 1.7 Above 10000M, with a TWR of 1.5 you begin real acceleration; it's very hard to beat gravity! ONLY AT 12000 24000M: 1 stage left LEAVING LAST STAGE AT 49000M IN ORBIT AROUND EVE: 480 DV left WAITING FOR THE SHUTTLE TO DOCK IN FOR KERBIN RETURN TO BE FOLLOWED............

Here is the ascent ship I built to gather science on the top of the highest Eve mountain. Asparagus stage design Landing at 267T with 186 MK2 chutes plus 18 MK25 to lower speed at 2500m. You need them otherwise the speed drop at 500m is too important and brokes the ship All the sensor and science stuff is very near from ground so that Jeremiah can gather all science, then embark and take off, leaving gears, chutes and all sciences stuff. Take off weight is 220T and you got 8600DV. I made it taking off from 7500m. There only aerospace engines and 3 Vesta VR1 from KWRocketry. TWR is around 1.55 on take off to 1.7 after, all the way up. Here is my second Eve return lander. it's a rescue lander. 180T on landing, same chutes system with 186 MK2+6 lighter MK1 and 12 MK25. All 60 gears and all chutes ejectable before take off. Asparagus stages also Landing 179T only with chutes at 4,7m/s. I landed a lighter one at 4,5m/s on Eve without damage. Take off at 135T and I got 10500DV, so we can land as low as 4500m, that's the rescue goal. This time I only used Vesta VR1 engines, cluster of 3 on larger tanks. 3 Vesta VR1 are lighter and more powerful than 1 aerospace engine, less ISP on ground 350 against 388, but better in Vac 400 against 390. Design is lighter and TWR is around 1.55 on take off. Don't go below that. I definitely will use this engines for lander on atmospheric planet. And it's easier to design as you can use decoupler and adapter on these engine, and they got gimbal. Here on the top of the ascent vehicle

Second Lander, The first one, the one I got some elec problem Breaking to aim at the landing site Atmosphere breaking Separation of last breaking stage chutes open, torque and SAS disabled to lower electricity needs 26 m above ground Succesfull landing, but I got also explosions on ground after landing. This is strange, nothing is missing. We'll see one take off Maldous is now between his 2 Rescue landers. I hope one of them will be ok for take off.

I got some electric problem with the ship on landing. Battery was completely drained, despite My 2 generators. I built a new ship with a solar Array instead of generators and put it in orbit to Eve. Meanwhile I learnt that when chutes are on, if I cut SAS, no orders are sent to the reaction wheel and the battery is not drained..... Here is the new ship with its fairing breaking to Eve landing Atmosphere entry Atmosphere breaking 8500m Fairing ejection 6000m: breaking chutes out and torque + SAS disabled 3500m separation of last breaking stage which was providing big amount of electricity 2500 breaking chutes open and vertical speed down to 22m/s 171m above ground, all chutes opened and VS is 4,3m/S 21m above ground: We see Maldous and his lander on background at 254m Landing is a success: At 10m I open throttle to slow down vertical speed to less than 3m/s I got some explosions after landing but after inspection I did not see any damage, all engines and fuel lines and struts seems OK Now we are going to land the second rescue lander on this site, just in case the explosions I got on the first one should have damage it, despite I can't see anything wrong...

Hi I built an Eve return Lander (10000DV and 105T on take off) for a rescue Mission: He landed perfectly near the goal, but was unable to depart because battery was depleted and electricity was 0. Here is the mission report http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/72103-Rescue-mission-to-Eve Because he was unable to take off du to this lack of electricity, I stopped the mission and revert to Eve Orbit. What I do not understand is why it was not able to sustain electricity charge. There are 2 PB NUK generator that gives 45/mn each that's 90/mn total, and 2 small Z-100 rechargeable batteries. Consumption is 18/Mn for MK1 lander Can, 18/mn for the Advanced in line Stab, 1.8/mn for the remote guidance, 18/H for Mechjeb2. I cannot know whether the Kerbal engineer system and protractor use electricity, but the fact is that he total consumption is less than 45/Mn and we got a charge of 90/mn with 2 generators. So I do not understand why the system seems to deplete as if the generators were not working. They are said to be active all the time. Once parachutes were deployed, the charge was going down very quickly. And on the ground charge was going down also, there was no lights on. Question: Is there an add on to see the needs for electricity? I am going to launch the same lander but with a giant solar Array, I will lost some DV but i am sure to get 18/sec and that should be far enough....

Orbiting Eve now But i miscalculate my orbit inclination and I have not enough DV to make my landing at the goal I am going to send a refuller Next step, eject the fairing to connect the refuller Here is the rendez vous Final approach Contact and refuel

This guy is stuck on Eve It was my first mission to Eve and the lander had an accident when separating with its lower stage on descent to Eve. they collide and the lander lost 3 tanks. You can see it is no symmetrical, tanks are missing on right side, and we landed at 4150m instead of 7500, 29km from our goal, but we landed safely. I studied and built a new lander able of 100000 DV on take off and we are going to send it for rescue Here it is starting on launchpad: 3800T We are going to establish 600T on Kerbin orbit: Lander 10000 DV plus a lower breaking stage 900DV plus an atomic pusher 3600DV, more than necessary. Launch and landing on Kerbin by parachutes were successful. Separation of first stage 4900m 8500m last tanks on the first ring of lower stage, we are now at 2110T Reaching 12000m At 21000m At 29000m, starting the center tank engine, we are at the end of the lower inner ring. 50000M and 740T, we start on the last stage before orbit with 7 Rocko max engines 56000m 70000m Apoapsis at 85000m Now we are burning to Eve

Vesta VR-1: Thrust 120; Weight 0,6 ; ISP ground 350; ISP vacuum 410 Aerospike: Thrust 175; weight 1,5 ; ISP ground 388; ISP vacuum 390 If you fit any small or medium tank with an Aerospike and the same one with 2 Vesta VR-1, you realize that, except near the ground you won't get more DV with the Aerospike. The advantage on the first 5000m is 10% more DV, which become a disadvantage when you climb, the Vesta VR-1 getting a better Isp, and 2 Vesta getting 30% more thrust which means a better TWR. That's why I choose the VR-1 for my Eve lander. Lander is lighter, TWR is better, total vacuum DV is much better and, if needed, you can arrange a decoupler on the Vesta, you cannot do it on aerospace.

You can reach the lowest orbit (107 km). Make your turn between 20 and 25km. here is my experience. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/70190-successfull-take-off-from-EVE I used Kasuha design for my lander, it's a very big one because there a lot of sciences stuff. Since, I built one which is twice lighter....This design is very efficient.

I am planing a rescue mission to Eve. My first lander did not land at the right place, it was an 8500DV lander and he landed at 4147m, so departure is impossible. More than that, he lost 2 tanks while separating with its lower stage on final descent to Eve. This lower stage was a braking stage, the purpose was to aim at the landing site and when acquired, separation and finish descent on parachute. So the lander miss the goal and is now waiting rescue at 4147m. As you can see it is not symmetrical and tanks are missing on the right side. So, now I built a rescue lander, 100T on Take off and 9100 DV. you can see it on the top of its launcher. the launcher will put it on orbit with its nuclear pusher and its lower stage. once in orbit I will use this last stage to brake and aim precisely at the landing site. But for safety I must not land below 5000m to be sure to reach orbit after take off. The main difficulty was to set up the ladder system over all the tanks and the ejectable parachutes system (176 parachutes + 8 braking parachutes-2500m), so that Jeremiah is able to follow the ladder system to embark. It's a big mess to set up because those Kerbal are stupid and unable to make a light sidestep to change from a ladder to another and unable to walk on a tank once at the top of a ladder..... I will not land very near of my broken lander because I must be 1000m higher. So I send a small shuttle lander capable of 4500DV. His goal will be to land near the broken lander, embark Jeremiah, and take off to land at a higher nearby place. There is a lot around. Then the rescue lander will aim at this site to land and take home Jeremiah Here is the shuttle orbiting

Hello This is a beautiful work. Does the fairing gives any aerodynamical improvement for atmosphere penetration in term of DV on first 15000m ?

Hi Navy2k: Twr is 1.6 relative to EVE, that means it's 1.6*1,7 or 2,7 on Kerbin See here the following: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/70190-successfull-take-off-from-EVE
