  1. Erm... They keep aircraft in balance by providing a lift. When you have positive AoA, tailfin provides lift, forcing tail to go up and the whole aircraft to pitch down. When you have negative AoA, tailfin provides downforce, forcing tail to go down and the whole aircraft to pitch up. I don't think KSP simulates that because you have a single center of lift, but I think tailfins provide drag, which gives similar effect, forcing aircraft to stick to velocity vector.
  2. Wait a second. Does it mirrors itself automatically, using different meshes for left and right bays, or you have to set both parts separately?
  3. The game itself is the same for every platform. Also, "platform-agnostic" development brought us console ports, with horrible lighting and texturing masked by crapton of blur.
  4. Are you saying that you'd feel better if noone get x64 version? Would you feel better if Squad terminated Linux x64 distribution instead?
  5. 2OP: dude, relax. Modders don't owe you anything. Check dependencies yourself. Of course, automated dependency tracking would be nice, but it would depend on modders willing to add some sort of manifest to their mod - and most of them aren't willing, if I remember Majiir's thread about repository correctly. Deal with it.
  6. I don't want to discourage you, but there's ChakaMonkey. Maybe you should join with Yanfret instead of developing yet another SLS all by yourself.
  7. Seeing as the whole upper-right corner of the screen is taken by new icons in .24, I wonder if you can actually replace stock resource panel with this one, showing ARP instead of stock panel when user clicks/hovers over corresponding icon.
  8. OP, watch this: PS Actually, not only OP. There are two floating point origins, one was before Krakenbane - for position, another one was Krakenbane - for speed.
  9. It seems that "true" size for stock tanks is cap diameter for 1.25m tanks but main body one for 2.5m tanks. 3.75m tanks are simply cylindrical, no riddle there. `rescaleFactor = 1.56` did the trick for me. That's what it looks like for stock parts and tanks from ProceduralParts pack:
  10. Not really. It's in development since '90s. But Angara is supposed to be completely russian rocket, without any parts/software from across the border, which is great. It was just a suborbital test flight with dummy payload. In the end of this year, however, they plan to launch Angara 5. Yet another test flight, but I hope it will actually go to orbit. Also, some photos: http://netwind.ru/07/09/angara.html
  11. It's a nice part pack, but it seems that inline parts are a little smaller than they should be, because you're using external radius (including these protruding rounded-rectangular thingies) for part size. They look weird when attached to fuel tanks, for example. May I suggest using cylinder diameter as part size instead?
  12. UGH! I think this... thing is the ugliest plane I've ever seen. On the other hand, Antonov's high-wingers (not only Mriya) are very beautiful birds. (Edit: except An-74. That one is a mutant baby in their family)
  13. That's probably because you meet them in online games. Using 1KK instead of 1M is a weird habit of russian mmorpgers. On topic: it's great that you people have decided to help Cilph with RT2 development. Any chance for target-tracking dishes?
  14. I just hope devs will at least start using "subcategory" config parameter at some point. Current sorting (alphabetic by full path to part's config file) isn't very usable when you have a lot of parts.
  15. I'm sure that part list/UI will be reorganized/redone later in development.
  16. Or you may simply install Crew Manifest without CLS, which will work perfectly and you won't be limited by parts from other packs which may not have CLS config.
  17. You may definitely try (if you will, don't forget the space between startup options), but it probably won't work (not completely, at least). In d3d11 it doesn't load all textures (leaving black marks on the floor of SPH, for example).
  18. Doesn't it accept such consumption rate for food and poop already? IIRC, food is stored/used as 1 unit per kerbal per 24 hours.
  19. No, it's set more or less in present time. The mission is basically "Mars (almost) Direct tier 2", with separate Hab and MDV (as I remember, initial Mars Direct had them as a single vehicle) and with ion-powered transfer vehicle (which has acceleration capability measured in mm/s/s, so, not Star Wars ion-powered). That's the point. The novel is written in 2012, and as far as my knowledge goes, it's very accurate from scientific point of view. The episode with the wind force is the only exception which I don't understand. That's what I'm wondering myself.
  20. I've just finished reading The Martian by Andy Weir, it's a great story and I highly recommend it. Very technical, very immersive. It's awesome, really. One thing that bugs me though is the very reason the hero was stranded on Mars. The MAV in the novel is qualified for up to 150kph wind speed, more than that and it starts tipping (it's not Saturn V heavy, but still, 10+ tons heavy). What I don't get is... how? Mars has what, 0.5, maybe 1% of Earth's pressure? Wouldn't this "super storm" be 100 times less powerful than on Earth? I think I've read somewhere that Opportunity withstand such "storms" annually and most they can do is to clean its solar panels. Maybe there's some Beufort's scale analogue for Mars? Maybe I don't get it? In every other aspect the story seems plausible. Or is it just a plot device to get the story started?
