  1. Cue the "Duck Dodgers" TV theme song... Was watching the Duck Dodgers TV series recently and created a couple of SSTOs based on the spacecraft from that cartoon... Both craft use parts from the B9 Aerospace mod because I'm trying to stay close to the ship designs (and also because the stock RAPIER engines are not powerful enough). First up... From the Galactic Protectorate, this ship... I'll call it Duck Dodgers' Ship. It was flown by Duck Dodgers and his Eager young Space Cadet. Craft file: http://www./download/cbqae8wc6nw8nsz/Duck_Dodgers_Ship.craft And from the Martian Empire, err... they never name these ships... I'll just call it the Martian Empire Ship. This is the type that Martian Commander X-2 (Marvin the Martian) or the Martian Queen Tyrah'nee was seen in. The underside with docking port. The Martian Empire Ship tends to pitch up shortly after take off, so you might wanna have the SAS (or reaction wheel) activated. By the time it gets near the stratosphere, the pitch becomes more stable... Craft File: http://www./download/nmk7g1gf2veblgu/Martian_Empire_Ship.craft
  2. I built this ship from the Duck Dodgers TV series.... It's based on the Protectorate ship Duck Dodgers and his space cadet fly in...
  3. Oh, those walls are from the B9 Aerospace mod.
  4. Dang... that's very impressive... did you build that from the bottom up or top down? Anyway, I decided to send a 'house' to the Arctic North on Kerbin... I modified this one a bit to have parachutes around the pod. I couldn't put those parachutes anywhere else because they would just rip the parts off the structure once they fully deployed... I also added struts on the pod and whatever on the structural center to prevent any part from being yanked off. We've landed. ...except that the 15 m/s impact damaged the rover wheels... One of the Kerbonauts comes out to fix them.
  5. Okay guys, it's official. With the help of a launcher attached, 'Jeb's House B9' can get into orbit... It's also capable of landing on the Mun though landing something that big is not easy... (you'll have to figure that one out on your own) I updated the first post on this thread to add the craft file During one of my lucky landing attempts, the interstellar booster that was docked on the bottom broke into pieces Things to note: -If you have something like FAR, I'd suggest turning that off because the house breaks up on launch. -I highly recommend the Kerbal Attachment System mod. That way you can insert things into the house that can be either vital or for decoration... -After you get this thing into orbit, you'll have to provide your own means of getting the house to places like the Mun or Minmus... there's a large docking port on the bottom of the house. -Be very careful when you're landing the house. I had to load the quicksave several times to get it right. Some of the landings I had were lucky... -Make sure you drive that thing carefully... I'd suggest driving under 10 m/s. Go too fast, and you'll lose control . And be careful about coasting down hills as well. If the house ran over something like a bump on the terrain, it'll easily flip (happened to me at 20 m/s and lost the house after the first landing). With low gravity places like the Mun and Minmus, it's easy for the house to fall over onto its side. -That little rocket attachment I had on the top doesn't have enough thrust to help with the landing...
  6. Made progress on "Jeb's House" So far it's a house on wheels... could go anywhere... I think... What a lovely view... One of the Kerbonauts fell down the stairs "Oh, come on!! Are really out of cream cheese?!" "What are you watching?" "Another episode of 'Kerbylon 5'." "Do you mind?!" (Thanks for the tip, Reistlyn) Anyway, the real challenge for me right now is getting this thing into orbit... the last couple of tries, the breaks up...
  7. Is there any mod where walls contain transparent windows? I was trying to build a habitat for a Kerbonaut to walk around in. There are some places in that habitat I want to have windows so the Kerbals could enjoy the view.
  8. It's still under construction. I want to put stuff in there before putting up walls. Seriously, that was uncalled for.
  9. I'm working on another random project involving a bit of interior design... I codename it "Jeb's House"... using B9 parts... It's more of a two to three floor house. I hope to get this into orbit and possibly to the Mun or Minmus... Still under construction... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ....... The "stairway" This is where the galley will be.... "Did someone forget to install the fridge?" UPDATE: The craft works and is very capable of landing on the Mun. Craft file: http://www./download/dvp51fypbn87d66/Jeb's_House_B9.craft
  10. I should do interior design more often... At least I try to send my bar and lounge into orbit (or to the Mun or Minmus)
  11. Okay, guys. I created the orbital version of the Space Lounge. I changed that large passenger module into a fuel tank. The landing legs are just there in case I want to send that thing someplace else such as Minmus (not sure about the Mun)... Craft file: http://www./download/1dwrg524ecog1cj/Space_Lounge_Orbital.craft I'll see if I can come up with a Mun or Minmus variant...
  12. I once did that with the TV-202 (that ship from the PC game Terminal Velocity) http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/73206-Terminal-Velocity-TV-202-starfighter?highlight=tv-202
  13. .....Aaaannnnnd here's the update! I added some lights on the sides when it gets dark. I also created a wider variant which will allow planes with a wider landing gear base to ramp off. Ramper Platform Mk. 1 craft file: http://www./download/pctlv61gzd73xtg/Ramper_Platform_Mk__1.craft Ramper Platform Mk. 2 craft file: http://www./download/2k4umhmtu46jots/Ramper_Platform_Mk__2.craft
  14. Another random thing I thought about... I call this vehicle "The Ramper Platform". It can also be called the Ramper for short... The idea was to get small planes and spaceplanes off the ground quickly with something like a ski-jump ramp... Things to know: -The Ramper has to be close to the plane, but with decent amount of distance... Too much distance could mean your plane may already be going real fast... and colliding with the vehicle instead of ramping off of it... -This will only work with planes with somewhat narrow landing gear positions, given the width of the ramp. I'll update this thread when I get the final touches done.
  15. I made some VTOL craft based on some real-life experimental ducted-fan craft the US Air Force tested in the 1950s and 1960s. I used the following mods: Kerbal Aircraft Expansion (KAX) http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/76668-0-90-Kerbal-Aircraft-Expansion-%28KAX%29-v2-3-4?highlight=kerbal+aircraft+expansion Infernal Robotics http://kerbal.curseforge.com/ksp-mods/220267-magic-smoke-industries-infernal-robotics-v0-19-3 Tweakscale http://kerbal.curseforge.com/ksp-mods/220549-tweakscale The first one is based on the Bell X-22 Its real-life counterpart I couldn't find a cockpit in KSP that looks like the one in the above image... also I almost never see "square" fuselage parts... Craft file for X-22: http://www./download/u082h0b5z33lscl/X-22.craft The next one is based on the Doak VZ-4 This one is easier to control than the X-22. The VZ-4 in real life. Craft file for VZ-4: http://www./download/fxw9evdf1kx04vc/Doak_VZ-4.craft
  16. Well... I decided to send the next Space Bar to Minmus (though this variant was designed for the Mun) I docked this large rocket stage with the Space Bar to send to the Mun or Minmus I used the Kerbal Attachment System mod to modify the Space Bar I placed some pylons and rearranged the existing rocket engines, and added new fuel pumps This was the first time I sent something to Minmus... landing this thing apparently was no easy task... it was very difficult to control, but I managed to land it. I lost a solar panel after it bounced around a bit...
  17. Just so you know this is still under construction... Anyway, I give you the Space Bar's larger cousin... the Space Lounge! I decided to focus on "interior design" instead of the usual rocket design... Those solar panels I have on those girders were supposed to act as flat-panel TVs. The bar is different than in the Space Bar. Also added some tables. The Space Lounge is to be orbital only. "...And then there was that time Jeb had to float all over place at the orbital Space Bar trying to catch this rogue keg..." "...Are there any good space sports on those TVs?" "...Go fish..." "Fish?? Out in space??" I'll update this thread if I successfully get this thing into orbit... Check out the Space Bar in the meantime... http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/96524-The-Space-Bar
  18. I have a couple of assymetric craft that are based on Wing Commander designs... they're from previous versions of KSP. The Kilrathi's "Strakha" stealth fighter (which flies for a bit before spinning out of control) And there's the "Bloodfang" (barely flyable) And the Dralthi IV (somewhat assymetrical in the cockpit section)
  19. It's now complete! Press on to the Space Bar! This is the orbital space station variant. You'll have to send your Kerbonauts into the module that's inside the Space Bar structure. You'll also have to zoom in order to get the Kerbonauts to do EVA in the Bar. Since the structure is fully enclosed, if your Kerbonaut leaves his seat, he'll end up outside... I may try to create a Mun/Minmus/Duna variant. It'll include small thrusters to land in these places. Craft file: http://www./view/3xb9rw0c9bsoc9c/Space_Bar_Orbital.craft
  20. It's just something random I'm working on... still under construction... The idea I'm thinking about is building a "Space Bar". It could act as an orbital tavern or something to add to interplanetary colonies. Space Bar under construction While we're waiting for this thing to finish building... what do wanna drink? What the bar currently looks like right now...
  21. Just updated the design... check the first post.
  22. This plane is based on the F-5 Tiger II, which was said to be affordable and has low maintenance... I'm sure there's a number of people who made this kind of plane, so I decided to show mine. At certain angles it looks like an F-16, but it has its intakes on the sides and it has two engines. I studied the diagrams of the plane as I was building it. It's a bit unstable when steering or rolling because of the rudders I placed into the tail. Craft file: http://www./view/bjc1xgpcjy72ct1/F-5_Tiger.craft
  23. Now that version 0.25 of KSP is out, I decided to update one of the Wing Commander ships. Meet the new and improved Hellcat V. It's sleeker, and hopefully less complex. It's also built with new stock parts. I called this one the "Hellcat V C". The first one had a lot of stock parts http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/32007-Wing-Commander-Hellcat-V?highlight=wing+commander The second one, or the "B" variant was made out of B9 parts. (somewhere in the thread below) http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/34561-Wing-Commander-Craft-Designs?highlight=wing+commander Craft file: http://www./view/jhjmg2tonh67pdj/Hellcat_V_C.craft
  24. Here's my version of the Grumman X-29. This aircraft was an experimental craft that tested canard control surfaces, forward swept wings, etc. The craft had to use fly-by-wire systems due to the instability of the craft's design. The long frame made it awkward to take off, but I managed to get it off the ground. This speed made the X-29 suborbital... Craft file: http://www./view/oa95y71paeb93os/Grumman_X-29.craft
  25. The XC-142 was a tiltwing aircraft capable of doing VTOL. It was a very tricky craft to fly. The craft won't nose up when the wing is in a horizontal position so it's best to tilt the wing up a bit. There's a VTOL propeller on the back just to help balance the thrust (you'll probably have to tinker with the thrust limiter). Testing out the VTOL Mods used: Firespitter, Infernal Robotics Craft file: http://www./view/4g04fn5u221qjfe/LTV_XC-142.craft
