This is my attempt to recreate the Tu-95 Bear to the best of my ability... It can take off from a short distance. The closest thing I could do to get "contra-rotating" propellers is have one propeller behind the square strut and another in front of the square strut... And one other thing... flying this is quite a chore. Mods used: Firespitter, Spaceplane Plus Craft file: http://www./view/25c919q6afdc9a3/Tu-95_Bear.craft Here are some other craft I did: McDonnell F-101 Voodoo http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/70558-McDonnell-F-101-Voodoo Kamov Ka-22 Vintokryl http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/71344-Kamov-Ka-22-Vintokryl Vought F7U Cutlass http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/71173-Vought-F7U-Cutlass Eurocopter X3 http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/68153-Eurocopter-X3 English Electric Lightning http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/68111-English-Electric-Lightning

This is the third craft I made based on one of Star Citizen's ships... this one is the M50 from Origin Jumpworks. It's said to be the type of ship meant to go from point A to point B fast. Made with 100% stock parts. I used this pic as a reference. http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130629142242/starcitizen/images/a/a6/M50_032713_notes.jpg Here's my KSP design. After some trial and error, I cut out the fuel tanks in the far back and replaced them with fuselage structure pieces while placing RCS tanks in the front to move the center of mass forward. The highest the ship can go is around 45000m. Craft file: http://www./view/9msbnuiwnfp4mwf/Origin_M50.craft If you like this, check these other ships out: F7A Hornet http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/66618-Star-Citizen-F7A-Hornet 300i http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/66854-Star-Citizen-300i

Heeshk-class Support Frigate (Mun version)
pheeph replied to pheeph's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I used a stock lander to dock with one of the top ports of the frigate... as you already know, the frigate is actually smaller... the lander shifted the center of mass so I had to limit the thrust of the lower engine to 17% just to compensate. I just realized all that RCS maneuvering with the frigate drained the lander's RCS fuel... -
Heeshk-class Support Frigate (Mun version)
pheeph replied to pheeph's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Update on the Frigate. Okay, as a test, I decided to send the Frigate on a Munar flyby without any landers attached. Thanks to thrust-limiting, I limited the lower engine's thrust by 50% and it helped balance out the ship (kept flipping upwards). The flyby was a success and was able to return to Kerbin. I'll try to attach landers to the frigate on the next run... this time two landers will be attached to the side ports. -
I remember when my friend introduced to me the real-time strategy game of "Homeworld", I really got hooked on the series... I created a ship based on the Taiidan Empire's support frigate. This is the original pic from Homeworld... And here's the ship I built based on it... Assembled this in the hangar. Did my best to stay close to the design. And how did I get this thing into space? I cobbled together a lifter in the VAB. It's by no means stable since there's no symmetrical layout in this thing... It was a pain to launch but I finally got it in orbit. I designed this to carry landers to the moon... but I realized docking a lander into any of the top docking bays will cause the ship to spin around because it shifts the center of mass... I've yet to go to the Mun with this thing, but I'll post more if it works... Craft file: http://www./view/97ics102k35r7h7/Support_Frigate_Mun.craft

Well, I don't have anything else other than the F7A Hornet... However, I may try to design the Avenger and the M50... I also was considering designing the Vanduul Scythe, but decided not to... I found that out the hard way when I designed some asymmetrical craft from Wing Commander...

I searched the forums to see if there is one, but I can't find one so far... Anyway, I decided to create a thread for people to show off any pics of capital ships they made whether with stock parts or mod parts. They could also be replicas of whatever sci-fi you saw. Thanks to the new NASA parts in 23.5, it made sending capital ships to space possible. I usually send separate components up into space and then dock them with each other. Here's some examples: -The Caernavon-class Frigate -Bengal-class Strike Carrier
-
Update on the Frigate Just added a couple of strut connectors from the Kerbal Attachment System to keep the ship's components from wobbling. I sent a "Utility" craft to provide some connectors and fuel. Nice view from the lander can I placed on the engine component. Getting out after docking. The Kerbonaut comes out to place the connectors onto the ship Some of the Kerbonauts are ready to get on board the KCS Kaernavon I also decided to see if the Kaernavon could make a flyby to the Mun and it did. Took forever, but managed to get the Kaernavon back to Kerbin The Frigate has returned! With that flyby, the next phase will be to load a couple of landers or small Mun bases to the Kaernavon and drop them off at the Mun.

This is a capital ship based on the Wing Commander IV's Frigate. All stock parts. Thanks to the new NASA parts, it made launching this frigate possible. With this Frigate, you could dock Mun landers and such to it then send the ship to the Mun. There are three separate components that make up the Frigate The Bow (front component) - http://www./view/yq669sk7mkk1916/Caernavon_bow.craft The Center (central component) - http://www./view/o2n3s8ut28d8kj5/Caernavon_center.craft The Stern (engine component) - http://www./view/r7bplbmt1c8py4c/Caernavon_stern.craft I've yet to test the actual ship itself, but I plan to send things up to the Frigate such as the Kerbal Attachment System to keep it from wobbling as I steer it...

I was attempting to recreate a special Kilrathi ship known as the Strakha stealth fighter (Wing Commander III). It's a very asymmetrical craft and has a ridiculously high accident rate (goes out of control in the air)... and that's why I'm hesitant to release it...

The TV-202 from "Terminal Velocity" The Vought F7U Cutlass The Eurocopter X3 Short 330 Kamov Ka-22 Vintokryl -
If any of you remember playing that classic PC game "Terminal Velocity" (a Terminal Reality/3D Realms game), then you might remember this particular ship... the TV-202. This is what the ship looks like in the game's box art Now this is my version of that ship. All stock parts. It finally occurred to me that I had to think outside the box where Kerbal Space Program is concerned.... This is as close to the original design I could get.... due to its long ventral fin, I had to place the ship on "trolley". I also added solid rocket boosters and increased the ship's angle of attack so it can get off the ground. Craft file: http://www./view/sbk7jpxx4tb5mvq/TV-202.craft I'm seeing pattern here, that people are more likely to recognize the "bread-and-butter" type craft...

I made this one vehicle inspired by the Hiller VZ-1 Pawnee. Right now, the current variant is unmanned with the seat on top. You'd have to move that craft somewhere and load another craft with a Kerbonaut and send that Kerbonaut to the flying platform. I used an electric propeller (and inverted its position at the bottom of the craft in order for it to lift off) from Firespitter. The RCS thrusters are used to move it around. There should be a retractable ladder on there. When the Kerbal climbs up, make sure you right click on the seat to board it. The design may look really crude with the propeller clipping through the RCS tank and landing legs, but I might try to improve on it if ever possible. And due to my ineptitude on flying VTOL craft, this thing fell over when I landed on the top of a building. It can be accident prone (I lost a number of these flying platforms in unmanned flight tests). Mod used: Firespitter Craft file: http://www./view/2lo2tktvpkv6d67/Kerbal_Flying_Platform.craft

This is based on the experimental Soviet rotor craft from 1959 to 1964. This thing is very tricky to fly, so you may have to alternate on the throttle to control the pitch. I also placed some RCS thrusters to help control it while hovering (but not guaranteed to do that when you're trying to land...). When taking off, start the main rotors first, then activate the propeller engines. Approaching the island runway. Looming over the runway. Unfortunately, the craft became unstable when trying to land and crashed... its real life counterparts crashed in a similar manner, but were from turns or rolls... Yeah, since other people were already recreating well-known aircraft such as the F-22, Mig-21 and such, I decided to recreate the more obscure or short-lived Air Force planes.

This craft is based on the F7U Cutlass in real life. The Cutlass was said to be ahead of its time. However, this ship had a high accident rate that it didn't stay in service for that long... But unlike the one in real life, I put a reaction wheel into my version of the Cutlass. In KSP, that thing can take off at a really short distance, and fly really high. I managed to fly it around Kerbin, but fell short of reaching the runway... Mods used: B9 Aerospace, Procedural Wing, Firespitter Craft file: http://www./view/6slri8jg6m8m2fx/F7U_Cutlass.craft

Here's my version of the McDonnell F-101 Voodoo. It had different roles when it was in service from jet fighter to photo recon craft. This plane may be a bit awkward when taking off due to the landing gear in the wings, but it can take off in short distances. The Voodoo also went fast enough to be in orbit for a short time... Although, it's mostly stock, the only mod parts here are the fuselage tail from the Firespitter mod. Craft file: http://www./view/wa6lf6p2hcz7jxc/F-101_Voodoo.craft

This is the TCS Victory from Wing Commander III. In the Wing Commander universe, it's a Yorktown-class light carrier in use by the Confederation. The ship itself is practically hollow... the sides are held together by a single fuselage piece inside the 'hangar'. The wall structures on the top and bottom were attached to the sides and strutted together. In the 'hangar', there's two small docking ports... one in the front and one in the back. I also added solar panels and some thermoelectric generators. The engines used are nuclear engines. Given that this is a captial ship, hyperedit was the only option... I might add some things and use different engines later... Mod used: B9 Aerospace Craft File: http://www./view/0d6cdfgf98k1a8s/TCS_Victory.craft

I remember reading some articles on the Eurocopter X3. A Helicopter with two propeller engines instead of a tail rotor. Since the Firespitter mod only had a small helicopter cockpit, I had to find the right kind of engines (other than the main rotor) of the right size. I finally settled on using two small VTOL engines. After some tinkering, I finally got it working. I had to place control surfaces at the front to compensate for the CoL being far back... Key 1 = Toggles Main Rotor Key 2 = Toggles small engines Craft file: http://www./view/sb7y3iz6x0ucrq8/Eurocopter%20X3.craft Mod used: Firespitter If anyone can do better with this design, I'd like to see it...
-
Here's a craft I didn't see anyone else do... This is the English Electric Lightning One of the interesting bits is the engine layout where there is one engine on top of the other. I couldn't find a nose part with a smaller shock cone. I used the B9 Aerospace mod, the procedural wing mod, and the Firespitter mod. The craft file is here: http://www./view/ri10jhcbcqga03k/English%20Electric%20Lightning.craft Be careful as you take off. The plane is rather close to the ground...

The Short 330 passenger plane takes me back to my childhood as it was one of the first airplanes I saw when I was a kid. It was a very reliable 30-seat turboprop plane. We called it the 'bus airplane' because it's kinda shaped like a bus with wings... It also had a more upgraded cousin, the Short 360. A military variant of this plane is the C-23 Sherpa. Here's some info on the Short 330: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Short_330 Mods used: B9 Aerospace, Procedural Wings, and Firespitter. Craft file: http://www./view/j6l6w7d1ldb5f2u/Short%20330.craft

If any of you played Wing Commander Privateer, you probably encountered these Confederation ships patrolling various sectors. The F-71 Stiletto is said to be fast and agile, making it a formidable fighter. However, it's lightly armored and has light armament. This is one of the few ships that is capable of full SSTO. This thing will ascend after it runs off the other end of the runway. Craft file: http://www./view/m1fl8cx64lfbmc1/F-71%20Stiletto.craft Mod used: Procedural Wing (PWing) http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/29862-0-23-Procedural-Dynamics-Procedural-Wing-0-7 Thank goodness someone pointed that mod out to me...

Decided to make another capital ship, this time from Wing Commander II... the Gilgamesh-class Destroyer! The TCS William Tell and TCS Hector were the known ships of this class. Made from B9 parts. Had to hyper edit this thing into space... Craft file: http://www./view/18q8na8693tn6vu/Gilgamesh.craft

Here's a craft based on the Origin Jumpworks 300i from Star Citizen. Craft file: http://www./view/r6zks1xu4kqz376/300i.craft It's a bit tricky to fly but it could at least reach orbit for a short time. I placed canard parts for flight stability. I also wish the wings were a bit shorter... hard to stay close to the design when you can't find the right stock part. If you liked that, take a look at my version of the F7A Hornet: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/66618-Star-Citizen-F7A-Hornet
