designing lifters, i can spend hours designing a lifter that works like a charm, can lift huge payloads, and then never use it again
-
don't exactly remember, i just remember that i downloaded 0.13 from somewhere and then everything started
-
there is no limit, while most of my rockets get to 12-17 km/s i desgined some that can go up to 30km/s or more
-
running 4 nukes at 25%
thunderstar replied to engraverwilliam's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
already been said, but, i would recomend to not use a lot of nuclear engines, while just having one with that tiny amount of thrust seems like it will take forever, it greatly improves efficiency, so less nukes is better -
this is a proper space lab

You Will Not Go To Space Today - Post your fails here!
thunderstar replied to Mastodon's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Not fail but almost, or it really changed the mission, my biggest lifter second stage engine exploded after staging, so i had to use third stage instead, made it to space but i doubt i made it to my original destination -
What's The One Thing That Niggles You About KSP
thunderstar replied to NeoMorph's topic in KSP1 Discussion
why you're playing older ksp versions? -
just watched it, i love it! pixar movies get better and better, also the songs are very catchy
-
i know its amazing, the level of detail it amazes me and the performance even more, but if they want to make ksp in outerra, will mean make the game from scratch, they'll have to redo everything so it will take the devs at les other 3-4 years but it will be awesome nevertheless

also the Shenzou's orbital module can work as a totally separate spacecraft, the astronauts could use it as a lifeboat for example in case the heatshield is damaged, in fact the orbital module has its own propulsion system if im not mistaken
-
calm down guys, he didn't even finished saturn IB there's a long way until skylab

Am I understanding this correctly? Mission to capture an asteroid?
thunderstar replied to Whackjob's topic in KSP1 Discussion

Spacecraft inspiration?
thunderstar replied to Taki117's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
keep trying! its hard at the beggining, but you'll do it, for example i already managed to make a 450 tons to LKO rocket, was hard but fun! -
Spacecraft inspiration?
thunderstar replied to Taki117's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
how about big payload rockets?, i was like you, didn't know what to do next, now i enjoy designing, exploding, redisigning and fliying huge rockets that can carry bigger payloads every time, i had a concept of a 1000 ton payload to LKO today, but explodes at the launchpad, current record is 346 tons -
Heavy payload problems...
thunderstar replied to zeppelinmage's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
you're exceeding your ship structural capacities, its very common with large payloads, use more struts, or some mods can help you, something like kerbal joint reinforcement, or KW's super strong struts -
Would we be able to send man to mars soon? Or is it impossible?
thunderstar replied to ThatKerbal's topic in The Lounge
The tecnology for doing that has existed for decades, a plan for a mars missions comes up nearly every year, but the "real" mars travel is at least past the mid 2020's, first they have to finish the orion and the SLS, thats estimated for 2017, but it could get posposed until 2019 or 2020, then there will be the manned missions to LEO, to the moon, maybe and asteroid capture in lunar orbit and then, they will start working on a mars mission, so it a long way until there -
fractured heatshield, only that? they deserve to hit earth's atmosphere with just spacesuits,
-
good lord!, just image how huge this is, i don't think it fits in the VAB
-
Took a trip through memory lane in 13.3 a little bit ago.
thunderstar replied to syfyguy64's topic in KSP1 Discussion
yeah i am not a huge fan of the modern skybox, but i also don't like a starless skybox, its too creepy for me, something between the two would be awesome -
Can you land on the sun?
thunderstar replied to ckimstafu's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
well, make a ship capable of killing that velocity and we'll see -
Give Minmus a very VERY thin atmosphere
thunderstar replied to halosos's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
it would be better if they give back that tenous atmosphere to Moho -
How would you design a satellite to last 5 billion years?
thunderstar replied to nhnifong's topic in Science & Spaceflight
there's no reason for making a 5 billion year satellite, maybe a 5 million, but in 5 billion years nothing will be orbiting earth, as earth won't exist anymore around that date -
why are there people who stick more than one nuke on their ships?
thunderstar replied to lammatt's topic in KSP1 Discussion
because they want shorter burns, but yeah, and orange tank with a 3-5 ton payload and a nuke can have up to 12,000 m/s of Dv, but with two nukes it just gets merely 9800 m/s
