New Space-X rocket is the most Kerbal rocket I've ever seen in real life
Mercy replied to ultra86's topic in The Lounge
Oh my GOD, go away. You're obviously baiting a fight, and comparing a RL flight computer to Mechjeb is stupid in the first place. But yeah, SpaceX are pretty wicked. Elon Musk is nuts about space, I wouldn't be surprised if folk at SpaceX play KSP. -
FALSE. The person below me is a patron of Weenie Hut Jr.
-
Well the fact of the matter is most people here aren't aerospace engineers or scientists of any description, mostly people in their mid teens to early 20's who think they're superior to others because they know a few things about space they learnt from KSP.
-
Why would you even mention it at all then?
-
People that can't find their way around the streets aren't average. They're stupid. Disregarding that, "space" in itself doesn't really affect it. Just because a satellite their device uses is in a basic orbit doesn't mean they need to know about all things space related. For example, to go back to my marine biology analogy, just because a person may enjoy eating fish does not mean they have to be able to name every species in the Selachimorpha clade.
-
Because the average person has never been to space, will never go to space and has no interest in space. I doubt you know a whole lot about say, marine biology, but I doubt people who do have an interest in that sit and grumble about how uninformed you are, because the chances are it's things irrelevant to your life, thus you have no reason to know about it.
-
Space station? Mere? Ahaha, get out.
-
Not really, no. The point is to go to space.

inb4personclaimingNASAusesmechjebsoit'smorerealistic Anyway, to get on topic. I use few mods, and none of them are things like part packs. KAS and KER are good examples, as they add new gameplay features entirely. Play how you want, just be prepared to deal with people with differing opinions when you post about it. Also, I recommend anyone using Mechjeb for information downloads KER, it leves the screen less cluttered and you can see your info in the VAB. Goes better with the games menu aesthetic too.
-
Well, FAR is mostly designed with spaceplanes in mind, so it's a bit OP on rockets if you slap nosecones on it.
-
Like moon.

Define "gaming" laptop. My Toshiba here cost 400 quid, that's with 8 gigs ram, and nVidia 630M I think, and a 2.40 Ghz i7 Quad Core. It's not a monster machine, but it can run Crysis 2 at 30+ FPS with high settings which is good enough for me. If you want one with flashy lights, that's marketed as a "Gaming Laptop" you are gonna have a BAD time.
-
You could just - SPOILER ALERT! Drive around it.
-
We'll finally have 0.22!
-
You need to cool down mate, go have a nice, cold lager and watch some TV. Anyway, I'm glad Buzz and Neil won, those names have far more significance than some silly forum joke.

Destroyed another space station by hitting Shift instead of Alt
Mercy replied to Superfluous J's topic in KSP1 Discussion
This. If you have a shipped dock or something, always shut the engines down and never leave modules engines attached after they've been connected. "Shipped dock". Oops. Meant ship docked... -
Yet another Mechjeb thread (but this time different)
Mercy replied to Johno's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I personally don't use it as I have all the info I need with KER, but I do understand why some people might use it for basic tasks like orbiting for the 100th time as it bores them. It does not bore me, so I do not need to use it. The only time I have any problems with people using it is when they make a stupid comparison (such as above) or brag about their automated achievements. I personally do not care what people do in their personal game beyond that. -
Is the KSP Community more friendly then the Minecraft community?
Mercy replied to FiresThatBurn's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I don't see why you would compare the 2. One's a game about space exploration and space ships, the others about creating structures and mining things. They're bound to attract 2 different types of people. -
Neither, because they're meant to be pilots...
-
Invent a name for the first city on Kerbin.
Mercy replied to Custard Donut (In Space)'s topic in KSP1 Discussion
Why do you all seem to think adding "K" or "Kerb" makes a good name? At least try and be original or witty, please. Vostok? Yuri? Eagle? Columbia? A name that has actual meaning and pertains to the games concept? -
Well uh, for the big parts use the Sr, for the small ones, don't?
-
No it won't. I don't see what the difference between ending flight, blowing it up or letting it crash is anyway. If it's killing Kerbabs you're worried about, they'll come back as long as you don't have permadeath on.
-
Wow, a real life pioneering computer designed to pull off humanity's greatest feat thus far with the lives of real people relying on it, is more advanced than a mod in a video game? I never would have guessed. Drawing comparisons between RL computers and Mechjeb is foolish anyway, they are 2 completely different things. If you want people to let you use MJ in peace, don't make stupid points when arguing against their negative view on it.
-
The games already easy enough, so no. I guess once you've done pretty much all there is to do, everything seems easy.
-
People WAY over-exaggerate how bad EA are. KSP on Frostbite or something would be wicked.
