Today. Final flight testing before publication of the STS Extended Operations Module, renaming to STS Service Module. Will require KAS, IR, and Tweakscale (for IR). Chasing a prototype SBS-3 ComSat from the upcomming STS-5 subassembly release I'm working on. Capture successful, and I have struts in the KAS containers to hold 'er down and bring it back to KSC. Everything you see in the bay is attached via a single, yes single, subassembly. A work of art in its own right. I'll have to post a vid when I release it or shortly after.

Today. Extended Operations Module subassembly early concept testing. Adds all that you see here in the bay in one single attachable subassembly. Requires KAS + IR.

STS-3 is out. Same forum link as above.

If ya'll keep hashing this in committee I might just make a video anyways...lol It doesn't have to be complicated. heh Of course it would be nice for a formal video called The Best of Spacecraft Exchange which is what I think jim is talking about. But a weekly review can be anything anyone comes up with that suits their fancy.

Well done! Reppin' this one! -
Well the idea behind the Video Catalog is so that we can see who's who on Youtube, and thus network our Youtube channels. But as far as the This Week on Spacecraft Exchange video series, I was hoping to make or see someone (or more!) run with a 5-10 minute no-holds barred simple personal review of craft submitted on the Exchange in the past week on a weekly basis. Unfortunately I have no time to do it, but I will when I do. I figured it would promote KSP more, and generate more interest in the craft we publish on Spacecraft Exchange. I think you guys come up with neat ideas! I just want to see more youtube vids, so have at it!

Thanks. Yeah there's only so many boosters you can clip and still get the thing off the pad or not kracken without adding a dozens of struts increasing part count. Diminishing returns? Unfortunately so. I think I will wait for squad to simply make a larger solid booster or give us booster fuel extensions. I will re-approach SRB and ET tank development when 1.0 is released, since it will require a new shuttle anyways.

Ha. May I use the word "impossible" sparingly as motivational language? Anyways, orbit is possible that is for sure, but using your external tank and boosters. You certainly deserve a great job on it! I've been challenging myself to keep my current external tank though and still use the booster tanks as shrouds as seen in my pic. I can make orbit, but with a whole new flight profile but still seem to fall short of my 200km goal. Pesky boosters. If you like can I offer your launch stack as a subassembly or separate ship download? - - - Updated - - - Thanks! The current proportions are actually fairly accurate without resorting to unsightly vertical clipping while still maintaining enough fuel to get the job done. The tank form factor is as OCD perfect as I could get, which is why I am a wee bit loathe to use Naito's open bottom external tank design (no offense Naito, but there are no adapters or cones that neatly complete the rounding of your tank's bottom while ending the tank above the SSMEs without vertical clipping). Heh. But like the real Space Shuttle, maybe I need to contract out the tank and booster design. If you guys come up with a better looking and better performing launch stack subassembly or craft, post it here and I'll include it in the OP. Unfortunately in order to launch the STS Fuel Pod, the extra booster tank on top is needed hence why its a wee bit longer and the external tank a wee bit shorter. It's a performance issue, but I think booster and external tank length is a small sacrifice to pay to universalize the capability of the STS Space Shuttle Intrepid

This just doesn't cut it on the performance level with liquid boosters. We need Mk3 compatible lifting boosters with appropriate ISP equivalent to Kerbodyne KR-2L Advanced Engine liquid engines: Proposed Mk3. Class SRBs: 280-300 ISP atm 290-310 ISP vac no gimbal no shutdown While we're on the topic of new boosters, I also propose adding solid rocket motor fuel extensions so we can make larger solid rockets ourselves. I don't like clipping the current large boosters to make something that barely works. In fact, even then these just don't cut it vs liquid booster performance. But it sure looks pretty:

I tried. 340 m/s by 15km was the best overall with 16 boosters, and fiddling with fuel and thrust amounts. Even shedding 20 SAS modules and other parts... 360 m/s. Face it. Solids just can't compete with liquids in ISP. Which is a shame. If anything, our attempts at making this so simply highlight the need for Squad to publish a Mk. 3 compatible booster with an appropriate ISP. But oh boy, it sure looked pretty...

no. does one ask movie producers for permission to publish a movie review? or game magazines asking permission to publish a game review? if someone has published a craft in public, it's fair game for its use in a review. though it would be nice to inform craft makers if there is any particularly glowing praise showered on them and their craft, but not required.

Yup. 16 Solids to orbit the STS Fuel Pod to 200km may be a statistical impossibility. They just dont put out enough thrust overall. I wind up 100m/s short of my speed target at 15km. I need to hit at least 430 m/s by that alt. I think adding solids to this craft ups the difficulty level in flying her. i might offer the launch stack as a subassembly if I can get it to work. It also adds about 40 more parts to the shuttle. Not fun. Still tryin though.
