  1. Oh sorry, yeah I meant stretchy tanks . KW is probably my favorite addon for rockets and fairings and I haven't had any issues with it. And yeah I used FAR with this, haven't tested it without FAR.
  2. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/103148235/Beetle.craft Here u go. (I think this is up to date) The required mods should be kethane, kw rocketry, procedural fairings, procedural wings, procedural tanks, b9, mechjeb, spherical tanks, infernal robotics. Obviously not optimized for sharing haha, sorry about that. Edit: before using the robotics, the servo groups tell you what to set the speed of each group to. 1-6 control the different parts, 0 returns everything to the closed position, 9 switches between aerospikes and nuclear.
  3. Did more work on my Beetle. It works for landing on Duna and refueling there, but there really is only enough dV to get back up into orbit and not much further from there.. It was cool and fun though.
  4. There is a little bit of clipping involved. The aerospike engines clip into each other when retracted and the wings clip into each other when folded..
  5. Ah! Those are the "Dromoman" robotic arm parts pack and the procedural fairings pack. I totally forgot about that. Not even sure what the fairing base is being used for. Could probably do without that and the dromoman arms so I may update it if I have time. In any case, the procedural fairings addon is a must-have, so you may as well get it. Edit: Actually the procedural fairing base is used for the head, so its kind of important. My statement stands about getting the proc. fairings.
  6. Its from a free music site by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Haha yeah.. shifting CoM is often the problem. I need to learn to centralize the fuel tank so it doesnt shift too much. Also, this probably isn't the answer either, but at first I thought I didn't have speed control either until I realized it is only editable in-flight.
  7. I think that the wobbliness is an engine thing unfortunately.. I like what you're thinking with the prometheus vtol though. I've tried making something like that before. Thing is a b** to balance. Anyways, here's my latest robotics adventure:
  8. I tested out a new duna lander.... unsuccessfully.
  9. Haha sorry, Devo. Maybe you can beat me to the walking part!
  10. Yeah, I can totally wait. I wish more people did stuff like what you are doing. Time to get out of the stone age! haha Ah, I fixed it. There was a problem with the way it renders mp4s. I'm uploading a fix. In the game, I could see just fine in those parts that the video made look pitch black.
  11. Yes!! My plan while building it was actually to implement your mod once you released it! I'm glad you like it. If its no trouble, I'll definitely take the modded craft.
  12. Thanks, I've been thinking of doing that! Yes, I'm sorry about that. For some reason Sony Vegas makes everything reaaallly dark when exporting to youtube or MP4's, and if I export as wmv, youtube screws it up every time theres a fade or transition. I'm working on finding a solution to that. Any suggestions would be very helpful.
  13. I've spent alot of time balancing it. With or without kethane, you just need to use the adjustable rails to rebalance it. You can see in the picture that I was able to perch it on top of the control tower, and pose two next to each other, and I'm not an expert pilot . Watch the video! Also, the RCS is balanced to make docking easy (at least in the original version. I replaced and moved some parts in the minimal version and neglected to rebalance the RCS. VTOL balance is good though)
  14. Bahamuto Dynamics' "Mosquito" Kethane Drone This is a flying insect inspired VTOL Kethane Drill probe. It features an adjustable vertical center of thrust to take care of the shift in center of mass when the "sac" fills with kethane. Files and Addon Requirements: Original version: Download .craft Kethane Spherical Fuel Tanks MechJeb B9 aerospace Infernal Robotics and MagicSmokeIndustries robotic parts Minimal version: Download .craft Kethane Infernal Robotics and MagicSmokeIndustries robotic parts The robotics are necessary for the vtol function. Usage: The first stage will activate the nuclear engines (this is so that when you have it mounted to a lifter, it will be ready when you drop the previous stage) Pressing 1 will switch between the nuclear engines and the aerospikes. Use the aerospikes for vertical take-off and landing. Press 2 to extend solar panels. These are only needed for drilling and converting as RTGs supply the probe core and reaction wheels. Press 3 to deploy the drill. After the kethane tank is full, use the "-" and "=" keys to adjust the position of the aerospikes closer to the rear to make up for the extra kethane weight. This is sort of trial and error but once u know where to put it, you can just remember that spot for next time. Note: In the original craft, it starts off controlling from the mechjeb unit, so right click the Stayputnik core (the head) and control from there. Here is a video of the Mk1 in use. It has a smaller kethane tank but functions the same way. (Starts at 1:43) More images:
  15. The minimum it needs is Kethane and Infernal Robotics (for the vtol thruster sliders.) I can remove mechjeb and the spherical tank if you want.
  16. The mosquito has evolved! Bigger solar panels so it can convert and drill at the same time, and larger tank now produces a total profit of 865 LF + 1230 Ox per trip!
  17. The docking cam does have an alignment indicator. That big white cross is the alignment (I assume you mean perpendicular alignment and not roll/rotation). What the other one has over the docking cam is the target location (you'd use visual inspection through the docking cam which is why it doesn't work as well in the dark), and roll orientation. I did another run and profited 350 LF an 400 Ox. Its not much, especially since the station fuel tank holds 17,000 so I'm trying to slap a double sized kethane tank to the mosquito
  18. Why thank yous! Thats a good question.. I know for sure that I do come out ahead after a trip down, but by how much?? I need to test it again. (edit - also, the mosquito has a small converter so fuel used from landing is not a problem) I came up with that design idea because I was outside getting bitten by mosquitos and that reminded me of kethane for some reason hahah.. Sad I know. And yeah the docking camera is part of Romfarer's Lazor pack, but the Docking Alignment Indicator is alot lighter and works better in the dark.
  19. I slurped the sweet kethane from the moon with my Mosquito drone
  20. The "Mosquito" Kethane extractor probe. It's designed to land on the moon, fill up on kethane and convert some fuel to return to the space station. The vertical rockets are on adjustable rails to fix the CoT when the kethane sac gets full.
  21. I made a robot arm for my space station to "help" with docking.
  22. You still need to rendezvous with the station without the tow. I don't think having something come off the station to grab an object that hasn't "caught up with the station" and come back is any easier than matching orbits with the station in the first place.
  23. I finished Mk.2 and posted it here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/46593-Giant-Robot-Suit-Mk-2
