  1. When I press CAPSLOCK, the roll/pitch/yaw indicators do not change color. I verified in Settings that CAPSLOCK is set as the correct key. I've tried in orbital mode and docking mode. Ideas? Second question: do precision controls work on the EVA rocket pack? If not, they should.
  2. Thanks, guys. Now, I'm off to the planets! NovaPunch 2.
  3. Upon orbiting Mun for the first time, I moved my Kerbalnauts to the M.E.M (Munar Excursion Module) from the command module and prepared to decouple for the journey to the surface. I then discovered my M.E.M had no power (no solar panels, no battery) and no RCS nozzles (I did have an RCS fuel tank). Thus, no landing... I returned home in shame.
  4. After many trials and tribulations, I finally got here and back. This is just the lander. The command vehicle was orbiting above. But, not without incident. I had too much side velocity when I landed, so it fell over on its side. I folded the landing legs, used RCS to stand almost upright, and extended the legs again. Next time, I'll do it the right way.
  5. Editor Extension mod: uploads_2013_07_EditorExtensions_v0.5.zip
  6. Here's an example interactive Docking tutorial: Blizzy's Docking Tutorial Note: I'm not trying to guide folks away from luchelibre's rendezvous tutorial. But, after you rendezvous, ya gotta dock.
  7. I had not downloaded the Rendezvous interactive tutorial; I saw only the Docking and though that included all. I just downloaded/installed the Rendezvous now. Also, I thought everything went under GameData. I just moved the SFS files to "saves" directory. I'll give it a whirl today. thank you
  8. May wish to try KAS (Kerbal Attachment System). Grab the errant part and drag it back into the atmosphere.
  9. I wish I could. Alas, I cannot. I installed it in the GameData directory; I cannot see it in the Training section. My GameData structure looks like: GameData-> --- blizzy-> ------ DockingTutorial-> --------- DockingTutorial.dll
  10. Please send cash for new keyboard and monitor. With all the frustration I have with rendezvous, I hit your comment. Cola spewed all over the place. This is now in my signature.
  11. Difficult (with any precision) when KSC is in the depths of night.
  12. blizzy: again, you come through with the good stuff. Just downloaded/installed SelectRoot. And, given Shifty's recommendation, it becomes a MUST HAVE.
  13. I attempted that before posting this thread. Doesn't work for me. Just tried again. EDIT: Just tried again, after this post. It worked. WTF???????
  14. There are times when I've built a complete rocket using one kind of command module, such as a one-man capsule. Then, I wish to change out for a three-man capsule and keep the rest of the rocket. Upon deleting the first capsule, I cannot add the second. My only solution is to rebuild the entire rocket. This is not too bad with 50-100 parts. However, this would be ridiculous with some of the 400-500 part vehicles I've seen. I must be missing something. Is there a way to change modules without rebuilding the entire bloody thing?
  15. blizzy and Somerled: thanks for the insight and patience. I'll give it another go Sidebar: I had fun with vers. 0.20, because MJ autodocking worked. With vers. 0.21 and MJ2, MJ autodocking is not as effective (read: failure). If the MJ folks get autodocking working again, I may not manually dock again. Ever. KSP is about as much fun as root canal without lidocaine.
  16. Another prime video example. Here, I start in retrograde firing position. I've selected the target (Station Base). At closest approach, I will be at 200m. After I time warp, I'm out of alignment, so I adjust. At 2 minutes until I rendezvous, I fire the engines, and my closing speed falls dramatically. When the retrograde pointer slides out, I halt the burn and readjust. I repeat this process several times. Then continue to burn, trying to get closing velocity to 0.0 (BTW: I don't make it). When I stop this, my closest approach is now 10 km. I tried starting the burn at 4 minutes. I tried burning at 1 minute. What am I doing wrong that everyone else is doing right? http://www.rickdomain.com/ksp/ksp_rendevous2.mpg
  17. Read have read: thank you!!! I've also revisited blizzy's tutorial on the forum and understand considerable more(since my previous post). I actually closed in properly on my target. Still lost it and could not get close enough to dock, though. BTW. I'm using MJ2 Rendezvous Planner/Interception to help plan, but not execute/autopilot.
  18. Here's a short video of my latest failure. You'll note that at closest approach, I'll be at 550 meters. However, I'm speeding towards the target at over 900 m/s. I turn to slow my approach speed. That is, I goto retrograde to the target. As I apply thrust, my periapsis drops and my closest distance rises dramatically. Were I to apply more thrust, I would enter the atmosphere. What do I need to do? I can't burn towards the target, because that would only exacerbate the approach speed problem. http://www.rickdomain.com/ksp/ksp_whatnow.mpg
  19. The frustration continues. Over 80+ attempts to dock and I can't match velocities, all ending in QuickLoads. If I start to slow down too early, I drop out of orbit with the target. Sometimes into the atmosphere. Slow too late or off by a degree or two, and the target whooshes by. The game has become unfun..............
  20. Now that you have 10 posts, you may be able to. Less than 10?...not yours!
  21. I did delete the old version directory. Odd. A fresh install did the trick.
  22. In addition to WASD, use LEFT-SHIFT to go up and LEFT-CONTROL to go down. You may also wish to hit the L key to turn on the lights.
  23. Along with the display, a debug console also pops-up. Under GameData, the install folder is called "NavyFish". In the previous version, the folder was called "DockingPortAlignment". Is there something I need to set so as not to get the debugger? Here is the directory structure: GameData-> NavyFish-> --PluginData-> ----DockingPortAlignment-> --Plugins-> ----PluginData-> ------DockingPortAlignment-> ----DockingPortAlignment.dll --DockingPortAlignment.dll Note: names with "->" are folder names
  24. A guy named NavyFish just made your docking life easier. Get this mod NOW!! http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/dock-align-indicator/
  25. For me, the ascent is one of the most exciting events. Why? Because it holds promise, a new adventure. What machinations will I need to achieve my goals? Will I have a perfect docking? Or, will I run all over the place. Will I get to Mun and back? Will I get to a target planet? Or, rocket right by it? Will I leave my kerbalnauts stranded and have to setup a rescue mission? If I've a new design, I wonder if it will fall apart on the Launchpad or somewhere in flight. (Strut Theory: There is no such thing as "too many struts.") Will I get into orbit? Or, fail, because I needed just two more solid boosters on that vital first stage. The second event I look forward to is re-entry. When I see the red glow on the heat shield as I plunge into the atmosphere, I can breathe a sigh of relief. Mission accomplished. But then, I'm a newbie.
