  1. For the clouds on Kerbin: Click Me! I used the HD pack from there. For the large pressurized girders and such: Click Me! Near Future Construction mod/Near Future Electrical. (I don't use the engines from that mod, but they are nice!) The huge orange tank on there is from Necrobones awesome Fuel Tanks Plus And then of course Extraplanetary Launch Pads For the rocketparts/orbital construction. Skybox is stock though
  2. And for all we know what we see outside those doors is nothing more than projection being shown on them to make them feel like all is normal.
  3. As to the stacking issue there is a mod for that. At least if memory serves (I dropped Nova Punch from my mod list) Nova Punch's aerospikes have a bottom node.
  4. Not necessary for this yes, but I would say it is still a necessary mod just for the sake of part count.
  5. Got confused, could have sworn I deleted a few mods but the parts were still available... At any rate, managed to finish my fourth orbital station... it is finally stable! Ok so not really finished, it is crewed, it is fueled, and missions to deliver rocket parts to the station are planned so the construction yard can get operational (need to deliver more pilots first though). Also need to deliver the escape pods yet.
  6. This part has been integrated in one way or another into roughly 90% of my landers. A close second being the OLD ram air intakes... I would put them on builds that didn't even use jet engines just cause they looked purdy.
  7. ahahahahaha As to what I did... I attempted to rebuild my space station after the whole break dancing thing (few pages back) and there was more weirdness going on. I had launched the first part of the station, got it into orbit, then I accidentally staged instead of undodcking which would be fine, just means that the faring base was still connected to the station via docking port but that is fixable of course. However... when I did that I saw the ADTP adapter go sliding down the rest of the tug going free... My first thought was I screwed up on construction (which I already knew I did because of where I put the fairing) but all seemed well. Fired up the RCS on the tug to move it away from the station just fine but then couldn't turn it to retrograde easily (started tumbling really fast) so I hit time warp to freeze it. Second it went into warp that adapter that floated through the ship suddenly popped back onto the nose. When I turned off time warp it floated away again and the ship started spinning again. Timewarp again and it happened again! Fired up the poodle engine to move it away and that is when things got really weird... I lost focus on the ship itself and instead was on the adapter which was spinning faster and faster and faster but staying in place over orbit.
  8. I spent the last week when not toying with spaceplanes or making Jeb giggle with some ridiculously dangerous build I was building a space station. Today that station was completed, and then crewed, and then quickly evacuated (Well Bill and Bob anyway..) The station as it turns out was haunted with the spirits of the hundreds of Kerbals who have died recently...
  9. Built yet another spaceplane... I hate it. Well actually I like it, the design the way it handles on reentry the way it lands... However it hits orbit on fumes (tried 5 times the best I managed was just over 100 LF/ox left) and carries not enough liquid fuel. So will need to work on that, adding some to the wings, maybe using smaller radial tanks clipped inside or something. Jeb built a pod racer type thingy... Ridiculously fast, ridiculously hard to control... Naturally Jeb loved it!
  10. Thanks! And yes since I use fuel balancer I was setting it to shift all the fuel into the front tank and foremost front side tanks (front tank alone doesn't do it lol) Even then with those tanks full (or mostly full) and the rest empty I can still tip it back just off RCS...
  11. I feel the same way every time Necrobones makes a new one.... Fortunately I have been able to limit myself to his fuel tank and fuel line mods...
  12. After an unsuccessful launch of yet another spaceplane Val hatched an evil plan to rid herself of those troublesome engineers... Second attempt made orbit, but very hard to land when it gets low on fuel as there is just way, way, way too much weight on the back end, need to figure out a counter balance system for this, or ditch the nukes. (but I like being a pure LF spaceplane...) And then I goofed off, turned on infinite fuel and tried to reach the speed of light, after quite some time of burning and accellerating and only reaching the speed shown here (slightly faster eventually) I got bored and gave up my ambitions.
  13. Suicide drops if I understand your question correctly. I could be wrong but I do believe the game takes into account not just your speed but how much atmosphere you are going through at that speed so a plane at 10km moving at 1500 m/s will generate way more heat than the same plane at the same speed at 40km. And m/s alone seems to be enough if you get it high enough, I had one vessel hit at 14,000 m/s and exploded instantly... well at 68km but since it was coming straight in with no angle that is pretty much instant.
  14. Didn't really do much, made the Mk3 for my pathfinder class SSTO. Solved all of the issues that the Mk2 had, though a bit uglier honestly specially in profile... No more death wobble from MK1, no more crazy RCS while docking from MK2, I consider it finished for now.
  15. Taking this to Mun... Ok actually that part worked quite nicely once I found a good way to get it into orbit... Trying to use it to return to kerbin on the other hand...
  16. That is one of the things I love about this game... Can play for years and still on occasion learn something new about it that seems like it would almost be essential.
  17. I redesigned my pathfinder space plane into the Pathfinder MK2... Valentina was supposed to be the test pilot (I swear I had her selected) but Bill thought with a name like Pathfinder it most assuredly must be a rover and wanted to get his mandated annual test flight in, bribes were made, Val found herself "locked" in a closet and Bill was none to happy to find himself on the runway... The plane did very well, reached orbit with 42% of its fuel and the MK2 having done away with the service bay filled with batteries and RTGs and instead inserted them into the fuselage it no longer has the death wobble. First half of the mission was to Orbit, second half was to attempt a landing on Mun. However it didn't have enough fuel for that, it had enough to reach mun, had enough to get back to Kerbin but land? Only if I tried with RCS and the RCS system is a little... wonky. Soo had to top off at the local 7/11 satellite: And then Bill became the first Kerbal in any of my KSP saves to successfully land a spaceplane on the Mun: Or any non-atmospheric planetary body really... Now work begins on the Mk3, going to change the cockpit to a inline cockpit and use a shielded docking port instead of the inline clamp-o-tron... I decided I just absolutely hate docking with that thing. Also going to replace the RCS system with something hopefully a little more stable.
  18. I finally gave the visual enhancements mod a shot... Have to say I rather like the clouds, so does Val (after she had to bail on her plane). Though I am a little disturbed that she didn't seem to enjoy having her chute deploy... And in other news, Bill, Bob, and Jeb crashed... Again. Bill never seemed so happy to see the ground..
  19. I disposed of some excess pilots... Also learned that at 14,000 m/s you pretty much explode the second you hit atmo..
  20. Started a new career (real career not my version of it). Got enough parts unlocked to make a little jet rover and bob took it for a spin.
  21. I started a fresh install and redownloaded/installed all my mods after my second save in a row decided to nuke itself. I think I found the problem and took that mod out, but added in B9 to the mix so who knows what will happen this time! Jeb went skydiving: After his plane tore itself to shreds because he was trying to bank at mach 3.5....

  23. Nedrop showed off his crash avoidance skills.. Pilot is apparently unnecessary... And then the universe imploded...again. I guess its time to start with a fresh install and redownload the mods to see which I can cut and hopefully one I decide to live without is the one causing this.
  24. You know funny you should say that... The last thing I did before the build that nuked my last save was land a probe on Tylo...
