  1. Ok so there's no-one else at it. Once I finish my plugin then I'll have a look at it. Just to be clear, there is nothing to release I was just gauging where to put it in my list of things I want to get done.
  2. Heh, well you will go about releasing things while folk are asleep I'll try and have a play with them this weekend but fairly busy with other projects.
  3. Do you happen to remember where you got that or saw it? I'm in the middle of writing a plugin based on KSPADDON...
  4. I still have the plugin I'm writing atm to finish and it's close enough to 0.22 to hold on till it's out. So soon but not right now, I was just checking if anyone else is at it already.
  5. Is anybody looking at getting MechJeb to notice when FAR is installed and adjust itself to work with the changed aerodynamics? If not I might have a poke at it sometime since it's been irritating me lately.
  6. Get set to hate yourself then bud - gamma radiation is not a particle, basic or otherwise. It is a band of extremely short wavelength (and thus high energy) radiation, also known as photons. No mass, moves at the speed of light - because it is light, just realyl short wavelength. Capturing gamma would require very dense materials and would undoubtedly transmute said material over time due to the secondary decay chains.
  7. This person speaks the truth. I've been using FAR for the last few months and it can be very punishing in low atmosphere. Basically do not even attempt to turn below 12k or so (where the first segment of atmosphere is), you can turn a bit in the next section but trying to lay it flat while doing mach 3+ will send you somersaulting. Over 33km or so it's thin enough not to matter, go nuts from here on out. Gimballed engines help as will wheels and wings but there is no cure all for trying to shove upteen tons of flat drag inducing crap through thick air at hypersonic speeds whilst trying to steer precisely. You could take out FAR but then, where's the fun in that
  8. Better than I could do (but then I'm a code monkey). An OGG is a free software compressed sound format, fairly widespread. Wavs would probably work too mind you but they're bigger and less efficient. Check out this guy's mod, it's pre-partmodule so it's not exactly working but it has a nifty sound file http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/sm-pulse-detonation-engines/
  9. Why bother? The last 3 or 4 pages are full of people asking the same questions over and over. Write a FAQ and not a soul will read it based on the last couple of pages.
  10. Read back a few pages, I posted a list. Good luck getting to a low solar orbit, it's not cheap.
  11. If you want to teleport, just use Hyperedit rather than get some poor guy to make you a part
  12. The work around is to quicksave and reload or go back to space center, tracking center then hop to your kerbal again. Either way the detachable in your hand works after that.
  13. Mwlue, aside from anything else, your TWR is way too low. You're not going to make orbit with 3000dV and a TWR of 1.4 or less. You need 1.8 minimum but try not to go over 2.0 until out of the lower atmosphere. Also turning below 10 to 12km (the thickest atmosphere) with large or wobbly rockets which don't have much reaction authority also goes badly. From what I can see you have one little SAS way up top. For an 800t rocket, that's diddly squat - MJ will not hold that against drag. If you want MJ to do it, edit the ascent to start at 12km and see what happens
  14. Geckgo, I restarted KIS on a fresh game (to play with half meter parts and the new FAR) but mission 4 didn't give the bonus payout for inclination. I watched it clicking on the hide finished buttons - no 10k. Finish mission paid 35k and the inclination goal was definitely met. Can someone try it and confirm?
  15. I've noticed a lot of instability with MJ in lower atmosphere since installing the 0.9.6.2 FAR that came out a few days ago. I know, not really MJs problem but I thought I'd mention it. Air friction under 15,000m or so makes the gravity turn into flipflop city. Anyone using FAR either edit the ascent to start way higher than MJ wants to or fly manually till 15 to 20km then flip MJ on.
  16. I can't claim for that mate, Maltesh posted I just commented. And such a big round of thanks for him, that 'feature' has been doing my head in! For radial attachment, get the editor extensions mod my friend. So much goodness, press Alt-R and you can surface mount anything (hilarious explosions may occur on launching). http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/38768-0-21-Editor-Extensions-v0-6-5-Aug-%28EdTools-Editor-Tools-replacement%29
  17. For people getting into the mod at this release stage, a rundown of science and AM collection: Kerbin 0.15 per day, mun 0.375, minmus 0.375. 901km orbit of Kerbin for AM collection 4.61 e-5. Moho 3.0 per day Eve 0.75 per day, gilly 0.75 Duna 0.75 per day, ike 0.75 Dres 1.125 per day Jool 1.50 per day, laythe 1.80, vall 1.80, tylo 1.50, bop 1.50, pol 1.50. 9001km orbit of Jool for AM collection 6.15 e-3. Eeloo 3.00per day Best AM collection, 392,000km from the Sun 3.06 e-2.
  18. Sorry Jahulath, I completely forgot to get back to this thread. Personally I'd love to see what you are suggesting for the pulsejets. I've always had a soft spot for them, so primitive yet so effective and LOUD! My god they're so loud In the end though it's your time, if you want to invest it it's up to you but you'd have created something more than just another cookie cutter jet engine and that's a thing. Ram jets, particularly hypersonics are more real advanced science. I mean look how many tries the yanks took to get an engine to run for a few seconds at mach 6. Airflow, shape, control systems all have to be absolutely spot on or it just doesn't light up. Plus I have no idea what a ramjet sounds like except that it's unlikely to be anything like a jet whine
  19. I was thinking about the beaming stuff while I out just now. How about this to bring it into line: Transmitter - up the mass to 0.5, make it require 100 charge as surge buffer or some such BS. The transmitter isn't too much the problem and power sats are reasonably heavy as it is but 0.025 is kinda low. Receiver - break into sizes. Tiny, small, medium, large. Mass 0.1, 0.25, 1, 3. Each size category has a limit on how much power total it can convert and differing sizes of charge/MJ storage. Tiny 20KW, no MJ. Small 150KW, no MJ. Med 500KW, no MJ. Large 1MW, 1MJ - this is scaled pretty low but then a 4kN Ion engine only needs to receive 40KW to run full power. Making 1000KW = 1MJ hurts you here badly as 1KW = 1 charge too. Change the charge to KW ratio would let you make the received amounts better. ie 50KW = 1 charge, 1MW = 1 MJ - tiny 500, 0. small 1500, 1. med 3000, 3. large 5000, 5. If you stipulated mounting on a generator to be able to get any MJ that might help too. Even with this though, 0.1 mass for 10 charge per second anywhere in the system (assuming enough power sats) is pretty awesome. But it'd make small reactors useful in that 0.36t extra for masses more power (provided we find something that needs such power) would be worthwhile. The power network would send whatever it takes to hit that limit at the receiver, so a tiny very far away would use a large portion of the network capacity but hey, you're getting your power. This would need the ability to set priority or disable receivers.
  20. Correct, that was my thought too but there are 2 things against it as it stands just now. 1) Beam receivers weigh 0.025t and will supply enough to drive an Ion ship halfway across the system a small probe (anything 0.1 to 0.9t payload IMO) will stick one of those on and it's good. Hell, there's even 100 charge storage on there gratis too 2) RTGs. There are plenty of mods with a plethora of these about, the current champion for weight/charge ratio is AIES - 0.04t gets you 40 charge/min. Now with a reactor plus generator weighing 0.46t, you'd need a serious charge requirement to take a reactor and even then the beam receiver stomps it. Now if we could think of an item or job that needed gobs of charge out past Duna, you'd have a niche for these. Maybe make a magnetosphere scanner that finds the best AM flux spots for you? Send small probes out to the target system first to map the magnetosphere then send in the ships. Even then though unless it really really gobbles charge down, the receiver will beat reactor/generator. Better yet to make the smallest nuclear produce like 1MJ basic and scanner or whater requires 1MJ + charge. Of course this wouldn't do much at the moment since the AM flux places are static but maybe later. Or think of other things that fit the small probe requirements. Edit: thinking about it, the problem is really the beam system. It's far too good and has no 'cost'. Free charge, free charge storage and no mass. Maybe break the receivers into power sizes? Small, med, large and balance against that?
