Ok good that I'm not completely crazy, I'll give it another try with some fins then. I did find that I had better luck reaching orbit with a steep ascent but I still had to be at weird roll angles to accomplish that. I think the issue is with the CD-HERMES more so than the ALIYANA 5 because other payloads I do on the ALIYANA 5 don't give me near the trouble.
-
Anybody had any luck with using the Hermes? I mounted it on an Aliyana 5 per the manual and its incredibly unstable and flips most of the time unless I roll it to some really odd angles.

I have used the Part Mapper a couple of times, I'm curious how long the parts database simply detects and lists those parts when it comes to new uploads? -

I put something together with Contares, it works -sorta-, I'll post the craft file and some pictures later. I can more or less get it into orbit with Mechjeb although I haven't quite tried manually yet.- 2,351 replies

I'll been building a sort of Energia with Contares, although I can't seem to connect it with the Buran shuttle... what are you using for decouplers?- 2,351 replies

[1.12.5] Cormorant Aeronology - Mk3 Space Shuttle
gc1ceo replied to Pak's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Yea I got gimbal limit but thats about how much force is applied not its range, I played with gimbal limit some but that actually make the problems worse since then gimbals couldn't compensate as well during the ascent. I also got the gimbal lock too as thats part of the standard advanced tweakables. EDIT: If anybody wants to see what I'm working with specifically this is my modification of Pak's Mk 3 orbiter with modifications to an extent based on drtedastro's instructions. I have removed the entire payload as an approximation of STS-1. I also removed the decals for simplicity. My STS-1 Orbiter- 2,351 replies

Most of mine make it to orbit now, although the AdvancedTweakables button doesn't open up gimbal range though, that's my first major problem left over is I can't modify the gimbal range.- 2,351 replies

[1.12.5] Cormorant Aeronology - Mk3 Space Shuttle

Oh definitely that works, I can't wait till the profiles are part of the main build, I'm always a bit weary of the dev builds but I might give it a shot. Ok I'll look up AdvancedTweakables. 32 GB of ram and that video card, I hate you *grins* I've been tweaking things and having more and more luck, I can get it into orbit most of the time now so mostly just trying to make the process more efficient and precise at this point.- 2,351 replies

Two initial questions: How did you edit the gimbal roll? TweakEverything is utterly broken for me, so wasn't sure if you had another mod that did that? How did you get the ascent profile dropdown menu?- 2,351 replies

Anybody else having trouble flying this? If you're successfully launched this could you please give me some detailed instructions? EDIT: I managed to get it into orbit but definitely looking for a more detailed procedure on how others are managing it. The most trouble I had was rolling it while keeping it at the right inclination it keeps slipping and sliding on me.- 2,351 replies

Ok wow, I'm special, I didn't realize there were craft files. *forehead smack*

How do you build the Centaur upper stages for the Globus 5? I'm guessing from the parts you can build at least the SEC (Single Engine) and DE (Double Engine) variants but I can't figure out which goes where.
-
Really nice, I tried making a BDB flyby vehicle before 1.3.0 came out and I didn't have the greatest luck. I ran into a problem of having more than enough for the trajectory to Eve but apparently not enough to get myself back to Kerbal. I'm still fairly inexperienced with traveling outside Kerbal/Mun/Minmus so it might have been a problem on my part instead of my craft.

I have taken the craft files and put them in a separate RAR file, I have to stress that I did some tweaking to get them to work and I'm not entirely sure everything works as intended. FASA Craft files
-
I've been playing with the old craft files and they largely still seem to work with a bit of tweaking.
-
I believe that hose nozzle that you are referring to is for liquid oxygen and fuel filling and draining. That would be awesome, I haven't really used any of the Universal Storage parts for my BDB or FASA constructions because the styles don't usually match but being able to incorporate matching parts would be great!

Excellent, always wanted an Apollo sub-satellite for the Kane SM. I've always felt that the Kane SM's empty service bay takes a bit from the immersion. A sub-satellite definitely helps although I'm wondering about a project to build modules that can snap into the service bay with the intended effect to look more like the Apollo's opened service bay. You can already add a number of parts inside the bay itself at the moment such as science parts, additional fuel cells, etc although you can't really replicate the look of the opened Apollo service bay. The Agena Materials Bay looks great so I was thinking that a somewhat similar look to the SM service bay would be a great addition.

The actual Skylab has small motors and arms that swung the telescope from the top of the stack to the mounting point, a detail you usually have to hunt around for. That kind of mechanism is probably beyond the scope of BDB (correct me if I'm wrong) so I believe in lieu of you the telescope mount has probe capabilities, some RCS thrusters, and some monoprop to independently undock it from the top, move it around then redock it to the mounting point.
