I will provide you all from a perspective of this problem from another country... First they retired the Space Shuttle, then this? Its really sad, but considering my country doesn't even have any orbital rocket capability at all

If only Armaggedon have more scientific accuracy and all that critics stuff..... it have one of the best soundtracks ever in the movie history according to me But to me, to stop an asteroid you need some nuke and a lot of it. Build a nice huge kinetic impactor using Orion drive, the technology is proven and if peoples want to chose between their extinction and some fallout you know it... Orion drive is the only proven tech that can lift several 20000 tons out of Earth surface, if only that test ban treaty doesn't stop it

I could use my main computer and use it to run KSP and do anything else on my laptop, if only I could convince my entire family that running a PC 24/7 wouldn't waste energy and make the computer blow up at any time

You see, I have created a nice interstellar vehicle that have 64000 kethane fuel converted into xenon that are piped into 2 SM-FFR engine, placed ISV Venture Star style (or Valhala, if you wish). The problem is I want to see my ship accelerate until its fuel tank are empty to test its capability and to see if this vehicle can truly go interstellar distance not just on maths and paper, yes I know there is no other star system available right now. So, my plan is to run KSP on a cheap server rented somewhere, use VNC to start the KSP and load files, and the rest is to use Telemachus to operates it to the end. With that, I wouldn't need to worry much about my KSP running overnight for several weeks, I could go to school and do my life, and check Telemachus for any progress, just like playing any other facebook game. However, is it even possible to run KSP on a server?

^ aww that is sad... If we have a FTL communication I could play games together with someone at other planets without any lag
-
If either of this was true.. 1. Polywell reactor (easy fusion reactor) 2. Woodward effect (reactionless drive)
-
One of the powerful weapon: ISV Venture Star orbital laser gun for propelling the interstellar photon sail. Imagine your ship getting beamed by multi petawatt CW laser... And if we have a source of huge thrust (Orion drive) than you could pretty much ignore the mass problem anyway (1300 metric tons)

For some reason everytime I tried to reply this the browser have a problem, but ^ Making the laser launcher that huge to propel a ship at 1 G = a freaking huge instant city wiper/ship vaporizer
-
Well I usually use MechJeb in ascent navball guidance for my asparagus staging launcher, and in automatic ascent mode if the payload is long enough (?!) Launching a lot of satellites manually is tedious. And I use Lazor systems for interplanetary transfer burn planner

http://www.buildtheenterprise.org/ It have several nuclear electric rocket, a hidden radiator: http://btewiki.org/index.php?title=Thermal (if nyrath come here and complain the lack of radiators) a huge gravity wheel, whipple and electromagnetic shield, small spaceport and a 100 MW laser. Pretty good for a real life Enterprise for me, but is this ship is feasible to build?

Alright I'm not a programmer but it seems that I notice several multiplayer system: 1. Player A sends a thruster on command -> Player A computes the movement, and the ship moves -> Player A sends a command to ship in Player B computer, it computes its command, and the ships move (OpenTTD) 2. Player A sends a thruster on command -> Player A computes the movement, and the ship moves -> Player A sends a positional data to ship in Player B computer (author KSP multiplayer) And here is my suggestion: 3. Player A sends a thruster on command -> It go to a server, computes, and it moves Player A ship -> It send a video/positional data to Player B And vice versa is true. No one computes the ship, instead the server computes all the stuff and the client acts only like a "dumb terminal" for inputting commands and showing each other ship position. Wait, isn't this is method number 2 but this is using dedicated server instead of listen server? Unfortunately because KSP source code is not available with its documentation, I could only guess what happen step by step what happens when a ship receives a thrust on command. But a brute force way is to map KSP space into coordinates and send the coord to other ship......... Honestly if I learn Java and reverse engineer Minecraft multiplayer mode, trying to find out how do flying player hit other player probably I have an idea... But this mod is a Chicago Pile moment, when we create our first nuclear reactor, and several decades later we make 100+ MW reactors

Why do as I started the thermal engine it always flameout and fizzles up when throttled up? I have connected the engine in the config: orange fuel tank (no I don't accidentally attach impossible innovations deuterium tank) -> 3.5 reactor -> thermal engine. Sometime it works sometime when I add another stage it doesn't. I use the latest version provided at the download button EDIT: Ohh nevermind, MechJeb prevent overheat thinks that your thermal rocket is overheated (while it is not) killing the rocket

It seems that lazor system and mechjeb 2 isn't compatible If I remove mechjeb 2 the writing will show up

Brachistochrone trajectory
Aghanim replied to Crashonaut's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I know an engine that have enough dV for the trajectory, this: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/28428-Orion-aka-Ol-Boom-boom Try it yourself -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oberth_effect Oberth effect is when rocket at high speed generate more useful energy then at low speed. My question is, is this simulated in KSP? Because if its simulated than powered flyby is possible, which is to burn rocket at periapsis to get more boost

Multiple throttle groups
Aghanim replied to Psycix's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Agree! VTOL will benefit really much from this as we could manage to use hover for main vertical propulsion and use horizontal jet engine to accelerate forward Or auto-stabilizing VTOL with addon that can access every hover engine throttle And then we will finally make helicarrier here! -

How to design a laterally stable spaceplane?
Aghanim replied to Aghanim's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Here is my ship design EDIT: It rolls at the runway. Every time I accelerate several seconds later the plane will either go left or right and rolls and everything explodes
