Nasa is considering a Manned Mission to Venus before Mars!
Aghanim replied to AngelLestat's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Is there any uses for sulfuric acid in space? As far as I know most of space metal extraction doesn't involve sulfuric acid at all. Space manufacturing might need sulfuric acid, but probably it isn't the limiting factor. And importing sulfuric acid to Earth doesn't make sense If you really want space manufacturing than I think asteroid is the best choice, because it doesn't have any significant gravity well. But colonizing it is hard So, in conclusion, Venus is a no-go for resource exploitation -
No one cares about poisonous fuels on satellites, the reentry plasma will just rip them to elements anyway. If its nuclear, then if it reenters, there will be news everywhere. If its chemical, everything is still normal

Some answers from NASA in the comment section: -
And what makes it much more scarier is that according to http://www.projectrho.com/public_html/rocket/realdesigns.php , the light sail accelerates at 1.5 g. And light doesn't produce much force at all, so to get more force, you need more light, so they use giant laser cannon array aimed to the light sail. Imagine that much of power accidentally aimed at Earth

How would you improve current launch vehicles?
Aghanim replied to Frozen_Heart's topic in Science & Spaceflight
How do you do crossfeed in real life anyway? Like the stresses, and the pump needed... What powers the crossfeed pump? And this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aquarius_%28rocket%29 You go cheaper by accepting that failure is an option. Needless to say it was a weirdly bad idea -
Civilian: Ohh crap the fuel tank is burning!!! Jeb: Don't worry,it is perfectly normal Civilian: What? I'd certainly don't want to ride that thing though Jeb: I do! *slips inside the payload fairing*

InfiniteDice Boat parts carrier craft file
Aghanim replied to Aghanim's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
Thanks! I found it and now I have my reference craft file -
I have downloaded InfiniteDice boat parts, but I don't know how to assemble an aircraft carrier from the parts given. So, can someone please give me a .craft file for a simple aircraft carrier?

Can someone please give me a .craft file for a simple aircraft carrier? I have tried building it myself but it doesn't really fit in the hangar

[1.1] BDArmory v0.11.0.1 (+compatibility, fixes) - Apr 23
Aghanim replied to BahamutoD's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Well I have installed the mod and play with it, but I still have several questions: - How do I lock missile to a target? - How do I increase physics load distance beyond 100000m? Its too small for Realism Overhaul Earth -

Is there any clear manual/guide on how to use this addon? -
The 3D printing of Lunar Base Shackelton.
Aghanim replied to Aethon's topic in Science & Spaceflight
This is not 3D printing, this is burying an inflated preform with lunar regolith by automated excavator -
[MAJOR SPOILERS!] Newton's Third Law (Interstellar Related)
Aghanim replied to Taki117's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Aside from someone magically save Cooper out of the black hole, which I doesn't understand at all, there is a very slight possibility to use rotating black hole as an energy source: A rotating black hole might provide additional assistance, if its spin axis is aligned the right way. General relativity predicts that a large spinning mass produces frame-draggingâ€â€close to the object, space itself is dragged around in the direction of the spin. Any ordinary rotating object produces this effect. Although attempts to measure frame dragging about the Sun have produced no clear evidence, experiments performed by Gravity Probe B have detected frame-dragging effects caused by Earth.[11] General relativity predicts that a spinning black hole is surrounded by a region of space, called the ergosphere, within which standing still (with respect to the black hole's spin) is impossible, because space itself is dragged at the speed of light in the same direction as the black hole's spin. The Penrose process may offer a way to gain energy from the ergosphere, although it would require the spaceship to dump some "ballast" into the black hole, and the spaceship would have had to expend energy to carry the "ballast" to the black hole. I don't know if this is right or not, its from here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravity_assist And of course the good old Oberth effect helps -

I'd use NTFS for external storages and shared windows linux partition and ext4 for linux internal storage I'm thinking to convert to btrfs though -

Lockheed claims breakthrough on fusion energy project
Aghanim replied to Argylas's topic in Science & Spaceflight
At least Lockheed fusion isn't some vaporware fusion device -
But plants produce net oxygen, but that depends on the lighting conditions. Still, if we somehow replaces all of the CO2 with oxygen in normal air, will things become easier to burn? Look at this graph: Increasing oxygen by 0.04% shouldn't increase flammability too mucch

http://www.space.com/27451-private-mars-colony-feasibility-study.html?adbid=10152399793041466&adbpl=fb&adbpr=17610706465&cmpid=514630_20141016_33770217 Yes, we all know that Mars One is a scam, talk about that in the Mars One is a scam thread. But here is what interests me: Is it even possible for a space farm to produce enough oxygen to significantly increase flammability?
