    Much appreciated!

It works! Wow! It is great to play with the controller :)
Many thanks for your help @kBob and @Ignath!

Now, the remaining question, why is it I am left without the correct DLL in the beginning, perhaps my Steam setup is wrong?

Did you participate in the Pre-release bugfinding @Beale?  If so, did you switch off the pre-release branch and "opt out of all betas"?

I think you should try installing a fresh copy of KSP, that that was missing makes me wonder if something else might be missing too.  Also my csteamworks.dll is 140KB but I'm on windows 8.1 so it might be a different version, still might be worth checking to see if you can find a different version of that file for Win 10 (though I suspect you'd have problems with other programs and steam if it was really the problem).

I believe he said he already deleted and re-installed with no change.

@kBob is right though, my CSteamworks.dll is 140kb as well, not 131kb like yours @Beale.

I'm well aware of that kBob...I was just insinuating that perhaps @Beale log in to the tracker and add his relevant info if he's having the same issue.  Perhaps it will also be helpful to others in the future (since this issue has happened to at least 1 other person, on Linux but either way).

I thank you very much for the bug-tracker link, it looks there is some solution there!

Glad I could help, hope it brings along some resolution to your issue.  STEAM controllers are awesome and I'd hate for anyone to suffer with one not working.

  4. 3 hours ago, Beale said:

    Perhaps yes, maybe.

I have tried and confirmed the controller works perfectly on:

    - Metal Gear Solid V
    - The Elder Scrolls V
    - Grand Theft Auto V

    So I can confirm:

    • The controller likes V.
    • The controller works.
    • The KSP mode switching is the only thing not working.

Unless maybe I am missing some driver, but I have not found anything.

Is there any differences in the way you launch MGS V, TES V or GTA V vs. KSP (perhaps you should rename it KSP V?!)?  Do you perhaps launch all 3 of those games from the STEAM client, but launch KSP from a shortcut or something (just curious as I know a LOT of people who install both inside and outside of STEAM and launch from shortcuts rather than directly from STEAM)?  Not sure (haven't tested that scenario yet)  but you may need to launch directly from the STEAM client to be able to use the STEAM controller with all it's functionality.

Again, haven't tested yet, was just a thought I had...

Also @Beale, it appears there is a Bug Tracker ticket out there with this issue already: http://bugs.kerbalspaceprogram.com/issues/5996

You may want to read over the ticket & the responses in the thread...may help you pull something together on your own, or at least you can add your info to the ticket to get it some triage...they just downgraded it from "Being Worked On" to "Needs Clarification" and changed it's % Done status from 30 back down to 0.  This was done 4 days ago by @TriggerAu.

    Doesn't work :(

I have tried everything, can anybody confirm that their Steam Controller works today (I.E. not in a previous version of the game).

I can confirm unfortunately @Beale that my STEAM controller is functioning just as advertised by SQUAD when using their default configuration.  My controller is mode-switching properly and everything is working as advertised.

    Sorry for your troubles, wish I could help but I cannot reproduce. ;.;

Edit:  I tested it immediately after I got the notification email of your request, just FYI.   Tested in menus, in flight, in building (VAB).

Ah, the life of a game publishing studio...

When SQUAD pushes out new features, it gets vocal people saying, "New features are nice, but I wish you'd fix things so they'd be stable!"

When SQUAD fixes things for stability, it gets vocal people saying: "Stability is nice, but I wish you'd push out new features!"

Shine on, all you crazy, lovely people.

To be fair, there has only been 1 vocal person saying "Stability is nice, but I wish you'd push out new features!", and I think that voice was fairly well answered by a grand majority of the thread saying the exact opposite.  In this case, the grand majority of the thread is correct in stating that SQUAD should take it's time and fix their stuff before moving on and adding more and sometimes the community at large isn't thinking overly clearly in their request for more new shiny stuff.  In the last 2 updates we've got quite a but more stuff, even though it is somewhat overlooked as some of it is under the hood; the biggest one being a whole new up-to-date version of the Unity engine which pretty much required a re-write/re-integration of the game with the engine.

This particular situation leads me to think of a John Lydgate (later adopted by Lincoln) quote:
“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time.”

I'm very excited to see the progress that is being made myself.  Good job SQUAD and keep on keepin' on!

Oh, thanks! This really helps. I think something may be really messed up with my KSP as it still says I'm on pre-release. It may explain why I'm not seeing any change in the 64 bit edition. I'll reinstall KSP tonight and hope for the best.

You have to change your BETA subscription in STEAM to opt out of BETA for KSP.  When  you do this, STEAM will re-download KSP for you automatically and you will be on the current version.

    Sooooo...

Does anyone want to explain the difference between <100km and >100km orbits, and why the difference exists yet?

I'm pretty sure this was discussed by @NathanKell in the last Squadcast.  I don't recall the exact answer right offhand, but I believe it has something to do with how the planet/solar system is rendered in comparison to your active ship.

Yeah, it appears my TWP is borked somehow. The thing is, i have tried reinstalling this multiple times but it just wont give me the correct outputs. No other mods either :/

Just put in the same parameters as the in-game image image shows you had and im still getting incorrect values

    wGlz6wt.png

I'll keep trying, but from the looks of things, it's not gonna fix itself

When you re-install do you just merge folders into themselves or do you REMOVE the entire TWP addon from your GameData/TriggerTech folder  and install fresh?

If merging, I suggest you remove the entire addon structure from your GameData folder, re-download and re-install.

    Interesting.

    I have tried everything:
    - Verify.
    - Reinstall.
    - Reinstall Steam.

No success, modes do not switch.

I am also on Windows 10.

Did you run from the Big Picture mode?  Is your controller's profile set up to use the SQUAD default settings? Check the STEAM controller batteries?  I'm out of ideas and just spit-balling here now, but I can't answer an issue I can't reproduce and my STEAM controller has been working just peachy for KSP, sorry.  :(

Edit:  I just realized I'm using STEAM's BETA version as well...are you on the BETA version or not?  Perhaps that makes a difference?

    Two things:

    1. Inner Planets Mod sounds amazing
    2. I am still in a previous version of the game (1.0.5), landed/orbiting craft warning considered, is there any reason that I should expect this not to work?

    (should be stock)

It will likely not work with 1.0.5 as it requires a newer version of Kopernicus which isn't available in that version of KSP.

  12. 29 minutes ago, Alshain said:

I don't think it had anything to do with that.  I think it had everything to do with that Turkey guy leaving.  They wanted to get a release in while he was still working there.  I'm still not sure exactly what he did there?  But anyway, I suspect that is why they released when they did.

I would actually guess it was due to a scheduled release on STEAM coupled with discounts for the 1.1 release that rolled out the same day.  Most likely more a fiscal decision than a staff one.

Probably, I just kind of wanted some heads up that I'm adding planets. I'm totally fine with changing existing planets, but I just want to make that conscious choice to add them or not myself. Now that I know KSRPC adds this, I can make the conscious choice.

Also understand that the download was provided as a "Beta" release, intended to help @Proot help sniff out any bugs or issues with it before he fully releases it.

Once the compilation is fully released, I am fairly sure @Proot will include the information about the new body in the OP.

Well, it has description, textures etc. it must be intentional.

It is probably suppposed to be a comet analog for KSP. I like it.

Agree with Thomassino here.  I thought originally that it came from OPM as I'm playing with that installed as well, but I bet it does come from KSPRC and is Proot's analog to Halley's comet or 67P/C-G or something similar.

Uninstall Scatter, plus both sunflare files if they are selected. Then reinstall Scatter and pick one sun flare only.

AstronikiSunflare and the default Scatterer-sunflare are mutually exclusive. One or the other but never both together .

If you mess around with it too much it is possible to get passed the mutual lock but it then throws the Kraken in defense. You simply can't use both files together.

    6 minutes ago, politas said:

What happened is that part of Scatterer was broken out into a separate CKAN entry, in order to allow Astroniki Sunflare to work. AS has been mentioned, uninstall Scatterer, then reinstall, which will prompt you to choose a sunflare option.

Yes, this works...for some reason if I tried to uninstall as a part of an update action as well (updating other mods, while uninstalling scatterer) i would get the same error.

If I update separately, then uninstall, it worked.  Thanks!

  16. Is anyone else having issues with Scatterer install?  I keep getting this Kraken when trying to update the latest version of scatterer with the selection of Sun Flares:

Try reinstalling the mod or something. Not sure on everybody's opinions here of CKAN but it might be worth using it to install just in case you made a mistake or something.

CKAN was the origin of this issue at one point.  Go back about 2-3 pages and read through until you find @Valerian and I discussing this issue.  It turned out that the metadata for CKAN had an error in it and was causing incorrect folder placement on installation or something.

I <3 CKAN myself, but it certainly isn't the be-all, end-all solution for mod installation, it has its problems like any other method.

  18. I just tested on my system.  I'm running Win10 with STEAM and my STEAM controller worked just fine.  The modes changed when I went from menu to VAB to flight and all buttons, etc... seemed to function as intended.  Have you tried verifying integrity of your game cache via STEAM?  Perhaps the steamworks package that runs the controller is corrupted or something on your system?
