[1.3] kOS Scriptable Autopilot System v1.1.3.0
dbmorpher replied to erendrake's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Um I have a question. I put a .txt file in my Archive but I am not able to get it in-game when I type in list. Also doing edit (filename). does absolutely nothing. There's no new screen which allows me to save. I downloaded from spaceport and my version is "v.0.12.0" -
Woah how'd you do that! The targeting system I mean
-
In defense of nice churches because he says it much better than I could.
-
Ok I see where you are coming from I just don't like when people write about blowing up the vatican
-
The quick way is to drop a 1 kg ball and measure the acceleration.

NONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONOOOOOOOO!!!!!! BURN THAT BOOK Sorry I'm Catholic and all those stupid conspiracy theories make everyone think bad of me and my fellow papist friends. Anyways scientifically antimatter is the opposite, electric charge wise, from normal matter. The thing is antimatter does vaporize when in contact to normal matter. This "vaporization" is actually all of the mass of the two particles (The antiparticle and particle) in energy form. This energy is in the form of gamma radiation, gamma rays are notorious for destroying things but don't "neutralize" that's just bad technobabble. For your last question, yes it is possible to generate antimatter but only in the strongest of particle accelerators and only in microscopic amounts. If you really want to learn about antimatter I'd read Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antimatter

Yes magnemoe's idea is called a solar thermal rocket and its not really that new. The Wikipedia page is pretty big too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_thermal_rocket

dbmorpher to find the avatar I don't believe that is a question... What is your name? What is your quest? What is your superpower that you keep hidden from the rest of the world!?! (I've been watching Young Justice)

Thanks for the help guys. I went back and thought about the design. I know the fuel cell will not be entirely efficient but I believe the inefficiency is what drives the engine. You see the fuel cell, being cylindrical will never touch some H2. Supposing I make the cell conic it would absorb more but I don't want it to absorb all of it. Supposing there is a splitter from the H2 tank, some of the propellant stays propellant but a small part goes to the fuel cell. The propellant and the fuel can be blocked by quartz in the Combustion* Chamber so they don't mix but the heat is transferred because of quartz' thermal transparency. Therefore the exhaust does not have any water in it making the rocket's efficiency more than triple (hopefully). Here is a sketch that might help P.S. the low oxygen requirement of an sofc compared to a combustion engine means that this engine could operate in the atmosphere without use of LOX *It really isn't a combustion chamber because there is not combustion, just electrolyzation

Slashy, thank you for not stealing but I am talking on something along the lines of an NTR which transfers heat from a fuel to the propellent. My design would feuture a tubular SOFC where LH2 is pumped down the middle and air or oxygen (stored in liquid for for travel) is used for oxidation. The fuel cell heats the Hydrogen not absorbed and also the Water byproduct which expands i the nozzle to produce thrust. Also the fuel cell produces electrical energy which powers ship systems. The turbopump could also be shutoff and the nozzle plugged to simply use the fuel cel to provide power and water for crew needs. My problem is that I am unfamiliar with rocket engine construction in the real world.

Hello I've had an idea circulating for a while now and I guess I just want to share it before I forget. Basically I was researching fuel cells for an idea I had for a car engine (car engine was a bust) but I did find out that a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) can reach 1000C which I also found out is the operating temperature of a pebble bed reactor. Pebble beds are also a form of reactor that can be used in an NTR and is a form of Very High Temperature Reactor as it can reach 1000C also. This heat should make the SOFC a suitable energy source for a thermal rocket. Now I calculated a lot of the specs but the problem I had was with the actual dimensional design of the engine. I am not familiar with the mathematics enough as I am currently in Algebra II I tried NASA sources such as the GRC site and even tryied contacting NASA engineers themselves but I tried to get a simulator when really I should have tried an engineer. I also tried multiple rocket companies such as Aerojet Rocketdyne and SpaceX. I can give you my calculations if you want to see, just pm me but I don't really want to put up a download. Also please don't steal my idea if it works.

Oh yes the orion drive yes I am quite familiar with that but no the ship I made doesn't explode it more or less just floats there

Advanced Grabbing Unit BUG!?!??! HELP!
dbmorpher replied to Saggachi's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I would try putting them on without symmetry, sph has a weird way of doing it. -
Well crud there goes my afternoon

If you press space to activate the next stage make sure to press multiple times so you know the signal will go through. Action groups are only used by people with bad hand-eye coordination, if you want to be considered a good player only rely on your mouse clicks.

Hi dbmorpher here, I just came upon the wonderful conundrum that is the "Kraken Drive". I've looked at pictures of people with their successful drives but have not been able to replicate their abilities exactly. Here are some pictures of things I've tried. Any ideas on what I did wrong or how to fix it?

After looking at all of these completed missions I have one question. How do you get the angles so perfect?!? When I do my burn I just follow the protractor mod although normally I get "unintended relativity shifts" which result in me losing a lot of fuel in recorrection burns. Also if you need to do multiple burns to escape kerbin how do calculate that?

May I have a suggestion for a super-Jebediah challenge? After his fifteen minutes of fame (or flame) from his Jool V adventure Jebediah Kerbal was stripped of his successful career after it was found he used the wrong octane of monopropellent. Now Jeb must start at the bottom and get BACK TO JOOL Basically you have to start off a new career mode and you only get 5 unlocks before you must make your craft and go to Jool. The person who can complete it and unlock the most science nodes with it wins. Although if someone does do this they basically won KSP. Sorry if this should go on a new thread I just wanted to post it.

dbmorpher replied to dbmorpher's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Ok so currently cantab has u patfree14094 has 1528.5 Fengist actually has 100,847.5 Deathsoul actually has 39318.75 Sorry I had a mixup with the bonuses I meant for the Unmaned Advantage to take place at 22,000m not 2,200. My bad. From now on also please calculate your own score and just as a reminder bonuses are ADDED Updating the leaderboard -
Dumb Missile Launch Contest
dbmorpher replied to dbmorpher's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Sure you can do that, I don't see why though. With the current flight model nosecones are useless. -
After experimenting in liquid snack technology Jebediah accidentally spilled the leftover nuclear waste on the stockpile of TT18-A Launch Clamps completely dissolving their molecular bonds. The DOD (Dumb Ordinance Division) was absolutely outraged at the knowledge of the incident. The DOD needs a new missile and fast! Newspapers talk of a growing war between Kerbals over a limited supply of toothbrushes. It is your job to design the next generation of dumb missiles, get to work! Rules 1. Only stock parts 2. Only parts allowed are wings, 1 command pod and 1 solid rocket 3. No manually controlling the rocket by any means (SAS, Control Surfaces, RCS) 4. All rockets must be launched on the ground at a 0 degree angle at the Runway 5. Minimum of 3 pictures are needed (1 before, 1 during, 1 mission report) 6. No FAR or other physics altering mods Scoring 1 Ground Distance * ----------- * Bonus = Score # of Wings Bonuses Thin Air: 1.5 Fly over 10,000m high Yeager Breaker: 1.5 Break the speed of sound (340m/s over land) Keepin' the Snacks In: 2 Don't do a flip Unmanned Advantage: 3 Fly over 22,000m BraMost: 5 Reach a speed of Mach 3 (1020m/s over land) X-treme: 10 Enter outer space (69,000m) (Bonuses are added together) My Attempt Distance: 8,574 Height: 10,020 Speed: 557 Bonuses: Thin Air and Yeager Breaker Score: 6,430.5 Leaderboard 1.
