They changed the forum. This IS a link and NOT an underline. It goes to the forum thread about this. its horrific to say the least. 194810202020

Where is the theme thing? I cant find it and the new look of the forum is hurting my eyes its soo bright and frankly off-putting. 182910202020

Not a fan of this. Imho its way bright and garish. I cast my vote for a visual revert. 181710202020

@mcwaffles2003 fs2020 is such an example. It provides third parties a chance to provide mods to its users. 063310192020 065110192020

@mcwaffles2003 flight simulator 2020. Players can play together with or with out various addons available from its marketplace. 055410192020 (you could have all the addons and i could have none and still share same airspace in the same instance) 060410192020

@mcwaffles2003 im not suggesting that, but, given that we just do not know how its going to be handled one has to consider all sides if how it potentially could be done. Im not saying my implication is how it will be done, inam saying we do not know for certain. As far as i know they have not been specific. Please correct me if im wrong. 045210192020

@mcwaffles2003 thank you for the sympathy. Yes it is a prime example. My fault for not being clear enough. Prior to taking those 3 hours we tried to play with me not having those mod packs. I had erred in thinking that implying that was sufficient. 005610192020

About 7-8 months before my best friend and brother from another mother passed away we started playing farm simulator 2019. He had scads of mods and I did not. It took us 3 hours to get me the full mod set he had down to matching version numbers before we could play together. Not KSP but an example none the less. There is an old saying that applies here: hope for the best plan for the worst. Thats why I bring it up. Shedding a faint light on it. 233510182020

@mcwaffles2003 just because you have not seen it happen does not mean it cannot or will not happen. Until the devs fully detail how multiplayer will work, i will not personally discount any possibility. 225710182020

@mcwaffles2003 modded by itself is not my concern. Lets say you use parts pack X and I dont. Can i play with you? Maybe. Lets say I can. Lets say you have a station in orbit and I need to dock with it. Oh wait, I do not use parts pack X, does the game even let me see the station? I know for a fact KSP refused in the past to let me use ships with parts from mods that I no longer used and it broke the craft. That is the compatibility I keep talking about. 193910182020

@Master39 its not about trying to convince a person to adopt one stance or another. Fwiw i enjoy multiplayer when it makes sense to have it. Examples: FFXIV:ARR, Elite Dangerous (as just 2 examples) but it is more about how are things like time warp or mod compatibilities or parts count being handled? Nate as far as I know has not addressed this. Nor as far as I know has anyone else on his team. Issues like performance around part counts or mods do need addressing. As far as multiplayer goes, I do not consider the example I gave as a true multiplayer. They may be playing a shared narrative but they are not technically linked beyond save file manipulation. For me, for multiplayer to be true multiplayer 2 or more players needs must be able to be in a shared connection. Either via online methods such as two example games above or via the same physical platform (think the old days of say golden eye on the n64). Save file manipulation by the player does not count imho. 163410182020

@Master39 it makes no difference to me how big ksp2 will be. Ive seen many ksp videos out there like The beardy penguin’s series beyond kerbol for example. Fairly massive variant with interstellar travel done single player. So for me that renders the debate on size moot. But, again, I am only stating my views. Like I said, if you as an example get a kick outta multiplayer KSP then, truly I am thrilled for you! I just, again, for me, foresee zero use for multiplayer. @mcwaffles2003 you make an interesting point, but, I would, just to balance a fair debate, say multiplayer is strictly not an absolute requirement for a space race. Once again I point a spotlight at The Beardy Penguin and add in N9 Gaming who are doing a realism overhaul space race called For All Kerbal Kind. Its 3 episodes deep thus far and an absolute blast to watch. If one player sends up a satellite they copy out the section of the save and send it to the other player to be pasted into their save. Such as that is, is...tedious but workable if one is adept at altering the persistent save (im good at fixing kerbal statuses but adding ships is above my lvl of skill lol). But again, for those who want it, im thrilled yall will get it, and truly wish happy adventures, its just not my cup of rocket fuel for this type of game is all. 073510182020 073610182020

While i respect that alot of players want and are excited for multiplayer, i still am severely reserved about it at best. Its old ground I have covered a bunch. I am less than thrilled KSP2 will have multiplayer*. I have always seen KSP as a single player game. KSP2 strikes me as a an extension of that philosophy. *why? Micro list: time warp, part counts, mod compatibility (not a full list, and just my opinion ofc) 070810182020

No procedural wings = no buy. Simple.
AlamoVampire replied to Vegatoxi's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Discussion
@Vegatoxi ive said it before, buy it or not, it really is up to you. I am almost certain that the developers are not going to sweat it out. They have a vision in mind for what they want to do with KSP2 and if that does not include procedural parts, then, while that will be sad, it is their choice. Take my preference for the mod Procedural Fairings for KSP. It is in my opinion a superior fairing system than the <in MY OPINION> abysmal stock fairings. I was using Procedural Fairings long before we actually needed them in game because they looked cool. I am still baffled to this day that with what is in my opinion the gold standard for fairings out there the developers went with the system they did. I am not privy to why that choice was made. Now, that said, will I not buy KSP2 if my preferred fairing system is not included? No. I will still buy it. I am very very certain that at some point a mod will come along and provide the fairing system I prefer. I would also love to see realistic particle effects <plasma trails> for re-entry, but, again, if its not in stock <why they wouldnt at this point is beyond me, back in the day, while it was coded in and not turned on, it was a performance thing to not have it on, yet it was a sister effect to the smoke plumes so <<shrugs>> theres that> I will not be so turned off from KSP that I will not buy. This all a long winded way to say something that I think should be said: We simply do not have enough information on what will be included in the game feature wise, what will not be there, what is being considered, what is being rejected to make any kind of statements of: if X feature is not in game, then I will not buy. Patience is key here. We undoubtedly will learn more as time goes on, but, for now, sit back, enjoy KSP and what ever delicious tidbits they do share with us. 001510172020 -
@Mikenike if you zoom in on that kerbal you will see that his pupil is black. Its a reflection on the helmets glass. Compare to the lady kerbal next to him. The reflection lines up on him but not her. 075310162020

I am sorry to hear of the loss of two amazing kerbals. May they never be forgotten. 004110162020

@Nate Simpson beautiful. I love the look! Nice work to Mr. Cooper on the scene and colors! 230410152020

Personally i like them not aging. But thats just my $0.02 lol. IF they add it, toggle option please. 040110152020

I suffered a critical mission failure. My attempt at the Elcano has failed. 14m/s plus low gravity lead to a catastrophic rover failure. All crew were rescued and returned to the KSC alive but disappointed. 051010132020

@Dr. Kerbal what is a magic technology? I myself would say no technology is magic. Not even warp drive or hyper drive. Why? Because what makes a technology "magic" to one person and completely mundane to another is the level of experience and knowledge one has of said technology. The only thing in all honesty that makes warp drive for example a thing of science fiction or "magic" is our current level of understanding of physics and perhaps even quantum mechanics and maybe other fields of science I am not thinking of. I do not think its fair to call any technology magic. I disagree 100%. Anything given to sandbox should be 100% available in career mode <with proper unlocks and research of course>. To give say me a sandbox only player access to warp drive and deny say a career mode only player warp drive is unfair. Regardless of the mode, be it sandbox or career or science, the basic facets of the game should be universal, and the only difference should be the level of effort required to achieve access to those facets. 040110132020

Well, today kinda marks the continuation of a project I began Friday. I would go to the challenge threads for this, but, depending on which thread you look at, it has been 3 to 5 years since they last saw activity. I am participating in the Elcano Challenge. This is the original Elcano Challenge forum page. This is the "continued" version started by Claw. Given the ages of both of those threads, I was unsure if I would be necro posting into them, so, I figured, I decided to put my progress here. So far, Ive gone 1/10th or so the way around. At 35km traveled. I know it may be an old challenge, but, its proving to be fun, even if I am on cruise control with mechjeb 025310122020 edit: an unfortunate accident cost me my extendable solar panels. My engineer removed them after assessing the crafts safety and ability to continue on. 025410122020 025610122020
