  1. lots of close calls and direct hits here. this is turning into a wonderful close call thread keep up the stories of your near misses!
  2. oh please yes! ive 2 stations that are in need of something like this! yes, i am aware of the mod that has it, but, id rather have it as a stock item, also wish we had <perhaps this new update with the asteroids if its in .24> will have a scansat like addition too.
  3. When I snapped this, the near miss had already happened, and it happened FAST. The debris is the 2nd stage of the lifter <not counting the asparagus boosters> and it nearly hit me. missed by 15 meters!!!
  4. this is the launch, near miss with ITSELF, and docking of my Kerbal Orbital Science Complex Crew Return Vehicle to the Kerbal Orbital Science Complex. When I snapped that near miss picture, it was already zooming away, it passed with in about 15 meters of the vessel lol
  5. While Sir Whackjob there, poses an atmospheric threat of unparalleled proportions, I myself prefer a more elegant launch.
  6. great idea in theory. however, in practice, as far as the rendezvous thing, I think we all did our research on it as we learned back in sandbox mode <for those of us who were here before career> and the rest of us will learn as we go, no need to complicate it by adding that metric into the game of it being an actual researched thing. a tutorial perhaps <perhaps they are adding one into the new revamped tutorials?>
  7. Please tell me you did not cross the streams. That would be very bad. Soo you are why bill and bob pop back up agter death! :sticktongue:but seriously holy nutbar cows!
  8. welcome welcome! space suits to the left, coffee to the right, and getting your mind blown by the raw genius of the community, why, thats behind each door, around every corner and right behind YOU!
  9. 1. that is a bit steep of a turn honestly, but, as far as timing goes, nearly on par with real world rockets. but, not sure how far they turn. 2. keep an eye on your throttle, stay below terminal velocity or you are wastin fuel on drag. 3. IF manual, i do it about 7-10km up depending on payload. 4. IF by mechjeb: when ever it decides its time to turn lol.
  10. Oh btw the antenna marks the rear of the telescope. Bottom picture of this challenge is looking from its front down the telescope to the bottom near vab floor
  11. Yes its 54, the "tube" is actually several interstage fairings and the shells there in. So far Capi3101 is in the lead! Well done!
  12. I think this would be awesome! I think they are making a mistake by not including something like this. I also think the lack of basic information such as TWR or DV that we need to plan out our rockets efficiently is on par with being criminal. Heck so is the lack of an auto pilot!! Its why I consider KSP stock to be STOCK with MechJeb <auto pilot + vital basic stats = win>
  13. Okay, I am calling out all of you creative geniuses! I have a challenge. I will provide you 6 photos of my Deep Star One Satellite as it appears in flight with out its mechjeb. I had this as a different challenge, but things will be things and it ended... badly. SO... Here is this challenge! The rules: 1. Must be 100% stock <joint reenforcement mod doesnt really count, as its not a part set, but, more of a super glue like thing far as I understand> 2. Must be as close as possible to the images provided, in terms of size. Mine: 54 Parts and 5.54 Tons 3. Must Provide similar angle shots to prove your creation is as identical as you can get with 100% stock. 4. Bonus points if you can get this into orbit beyond Jool using again, no mods that add parts. 5. Must participate to be rated 6. Challenge remains open until March 5th, 2014. Well.... Since we have had exactly 1 entrant into this little challenge, capi3101 you look to be our winner. That is, unless we have someone to challenge. I hereby declare that capi3101 is our winner. Not that anyone else sought to take my challenge
  14. i lack the skill set needed to produce a usable logo for entry.
  15. Beat by sal lol, but ya he's right on the money
  16. <sigh> Hodo, I have to disagree with you on this. I myself, had severe issues with docking. I read all the tutorials I could, watched all the videos that I could, and it was not enough. Sure, I COULD dock... eventually, and be completely out of fuel just as I mate up with the other vessel. See the thing of it is, some people cannot learn easily by reading how-to or watching how-to vids on the subject, some people just gotta see it happen with stuff they built. I am one such person. I could watch Scott Manley dock day in and day out and STILL NOT learn it. I down loaded mechjeb strapped it to my rocket that I was going to dock with and shot it into orbit chasing down the first vessel. Watching MechJeb do the work for me of setting up the various steps and then executing them with something I built showed me exactly where my faults were and what I was ALSO doing right! Suffice it to say, it taught me how to dock efficiently, to the point where I can do it manually if I desire it. BUT, since rendezvous and docking is such a routine thing for me, I tend to let MJ do the grunt work. Also use it for those long irritating burns that would be easier to do if the computer did it tl:dr MechJeb can be and IS a valued teaching tool, and doer of that which is numbingly routine or boring. OH and it provides a wealth of information. Auto-Pilot + vital vessel stats = win in my book
  17. Kashua get out of my thread. I love how you guys think this is sooo simple. Youd see it rather differently if youd man up and try it and get off your anti mod high horses. Gonna spoil my own challenge for others but that satellite is impossible to balance and nearly impossible to fly. But youd never know it staying safely on your ignorant high horses afraid to attempt my challenge because you wont install mods. To the both of you: either man up, install those 2 mods and prove me wrong or get the bloody booster out of my challenge thread savvy?
  18. Kashua for someone not interested in taking on my challenge you are rather vocal in it. I dont appreciate such negativity. Or rudeness or the insults.
  19. Kashua, I respect your opinion but launching 2 of them at once defeats the point of my challenge which was to get just the one in orbit.
  20. Hello and welcome! I second the use of MechJeb, as it can simplify the game most of the time
