  1. IIRC it starts in debug mode, you have to change that so it consumes parts.
  2. Did exactly this. Mostly because I discovered the space key long before the R key...
  3. When I first rescued a kerbal (Jeb, actually) I stranded in a lonely orbit around Kerbin (because I didn't know about the EVA rcs and I pressed space...), and brought him down to the ground safely...
  4. I approve, much better than not using them ever.
  5. Wait why is this thread not closed yet?
  6. *sigh....* As if KSP didn't already suck up too much of my time, now they're going and making it better. I very much look forward to the the performance fixes. And science. And someday rings and asteroids....
  7. Congratulations on making it to Jool! My first Jool probe ended up lithobraking on Vall.
  8. "It's invigorating. It's like... taking a shower in light. You lose yourself in it."
  9. My first Mun landing was in .21, so rather recently. For some reason, I thought an RCS lander would be a good idea... worked though, and he made it back to his friends in orbit and eventually back to Kerbin. EDIT: Not all my projects at the time were so successful...
  10. I was working on infrastructure for my upcoming Jool mission, specifically the interplanetary tug. I needed to test something to see how much it could haul, so I grabbed a base I had sitting in LKO... Worked quite well. The base is currently in orbit around Laythe awaiting reinforcements. (I have a main save and a 'testing' save where I develop stuff, I consider the testing save to be a sim so nobody dies lol.)
  11. Tried to build a rover. This is what I came up with: I'm not good at rovers.
  12. It's more like... if you can't handle a little engineering challenge without getting upset, you should quit ksp; whether or not you choose to play with Deadly Reentry is up to you. Although I don't altogether understand why someone would be upset after installing deadly reentry and then having their craft go 'splodey, I mean, that's kind of the point.
  13. Whoah... as you point out, the possibilities with this are sweet.
  14. My first Duna mission was a reusable* modular ship that used the senior launchers, it can work but it is a bit wobbly. I've never been able to get the tri-docking to work very well. * (You have to leave all the empty fuel tanks in Duna orbit. And if you aren't careful you'll end up orbiting Kerbin but in an extremely eccentric backwards polar orbit with no fuel, and sitting there waiting while the folks at KSC figure out how to get a rescue ship to you...)
  15. Well according to steam I've played this game for 159 hours since I bought it during the summer sale, which puts my cost per hour at under 10 cents... I'd say it's worth it. And I have only landed on 5 of the worlds there are to land on so far, got distracted recently by learning how to make space-planes. I'm already planning my expedition to Jool though!
  16. B9 is fun. Designed the Adelie class spaceplane. After some tuning, took off, rendezvoused with an LKO station for refueling (mostly to test if dockability) then decided that with all this fuel, I might as well do a Mun flyby so I did a quick orbit around the Mun (used a free return trajectory) and then aero-braked back to air-breathing altitudes, and flew about a quarter of the way around Kerbin to land on the runway. Design success!
  17. Finally succeeded in making a plane that can make it out to a circularized orbit and back successfully... The feeling of satisfaction is sweet. Here's a pretty cool shot of it reentering the lower atmosphere:
  18. I have nothing to contribute to this discussion except that I'm extremely delighted with how that phrase works out... beautiful use of language/reference.
  19. I started reading baxter recently as a result of playing ksp, first voyage and now I'm nearly done with Ark. I've very much enjoyed the books, and the science is very inspiring for my kerbals. Definitely recommended. Athough Ark does have some very disturbing sections. (That's not necessarily bad, just if you're looking for a fluffy happy book you probably shouldn't read baxter).
  20. That is a gorgeous picture. I want it on a coffee mug. Or a ksp tshirt...
  21. Rovers in space! And on the surface: Actually I landed on a hill and my rovers won't stay still. I need to solve this problem in the next generation of rover.
