  1. I've not kept up with this game, but my brother really likes it and you can micromanage just about every aspect of running a sub.
  2. Sorry about your cat's passing, daniel. That is hard and cats sure can be a lot of fun in life. Take care.
  3. I don't know anyone who doesn't believe in space flight or that it isn't possible or hasn't been accomplished. I find it interesting that the OP's friend does, however, play flight sims. And yet it took something else to convince him that space flight is possible or real? That is curious. Thanks for sharing with us.
  4. Hehe! Your engineering inhibitions were lowered.
  5. Anything but ... most ... rap. (Sorry, no offense to you rappers here.) I'll listen to everything else. I know I've put up some links to You Tube music vids here in similar threads with a small diverse sampling before.
  6. You little whipper snappers, I know some dudes in their 80's that play video games. (One of them stomped me a few years ago in C. o D.). Think about it; they're retired, kids raised, maybe the wife has passed on, etc. Some of them may not be able to get out much. So video games allow them to do something fun and puts them on an equal footing with the younger ones.
  7. Hopefully competition will drive down prices.
  8. I recommend not just one FPS game, but a Trilogy; its free, but not available on Steam. It will run fine on the latest Windows or Mac or Linux machines and OSes. Its Bungie's classic Marathon series. You can get it (or any one of the Trilogy) here: https://alephone.lhowon.org The game appeals to those who like a good storyline ... or those who just like to shoot. The cutscenes were just artwork; not interactive.
  9. Your engine choice(s) should be dictated by your mission and design, of course. That said, use the link to the graph (not the chart) in my sig line to view a comparison of engines performing under rather specific conditions. In this case, the test is of single stage performance from the KSC, using a single inline engine (or 3 radials).
  10. While I'm not a Destiny (or console) player, I have been a Bungie fan, so I found this wordy video interesting:
  11. Sure. This is from an earlier version of KSP. I was doing photo shoots at Kerbin of these. The lander and rover/ boat together. At Laythe, I would separate the rover from the lander just after dropping from orbit. I landed each using chutes so as not to use precious fuel. I had to balance the rover with science parts which could jettison. Now we have better parts to use but here's the old pic. Notice the combination of jets, spikes and nukes: Here is the rover on its own: Here is the assembly on an intermediate (not the launch) stage; I took the engines off for the shot. I asparagus staged the fuel tanks:
  12. Every good Kerbal deserves cheese! I vote cheese for the surfaces of Duna and Eve.
  13. Nice going. My Laythe landers are designed to float in the upright position in case I have to splash land. They launch from the water nicely too.
  14. Nice choices above. I know I've mentioned this in at least one other music thread here, but take a listen at this site. Space music by a real space scientist and a gamer! http://themarathonmusic.com/about.html
  15. Its only natural that Squad would want their game on multiple platforms. I'm glad the team first released it for personal computers (Mac/Win/Lin), since I'm not a console player. Now, if only they would port it to the Pippin.
  16. The Stiletto reminds me of the Pan Am Space Clipper from 2001: http://www.fantastic-plastic.com/PAN%20AM%20SPACE%20CLIPPER%20PAGE.htm
  17. One of the first things to happen prior to war may be limited or controlled communications and access to news (at least in some places). As for weapons of war, these could be a combination of conventional and unconventional (i.e. nuclear, biological, chemical). Even those who think they live in remote or isolated locations may be impacted in unforeseen ways. Regrettably, history and archeology (and contemporary news) show that war is always associated with human activity. Various belief systems predict that war will always attend humanity. No matter one's views, its likely that war in the future continues to be possible, if not probable.

  19. This will do the job, even with poor piloting and an elliptical orbit. With good piloting comes more fuel for a jet powered landing:
