  1. Actually a little google-fu lets you skip that step enough for my interest at least. Let me give you a tip. Don't get too hung up on girls that want to friend-zone you. This is inevitable, and actually works to your favor if you let it. They already told you why - they don't feel you're compatible. It's really that simple, you either like someone or you don't. Accept it for what it is. Be their friend. They have friends too you know. You'd be surprised how helpful it can be to be introduced to someone else as "hey here's this super-nice guy I know". You won't get that demanding a long exhaustive explanation why the friend-zone-ee doesn't like you in 'that way'.
  2. That didn't stop Throbbing Gristle or any number of other bands. You can into music if you think you can.
  3. I used to play in an industrial metal band. FWIW a good guy on the mixing board at a venue is a godsend, on the other hand, you probably wouldn't want to hear what we had to say about the guys we usually had to deal with. On topic, you'd be surprised how easy it is to find someone when you're not actively trying to find someone. There's something about a sense of desperation that seems to turn people off.

    Space Engineers

I kind of like the monotony. I've no doubt it's a lot more fun in multiplayer, but there is something to be said for slowly upgrading your mining ship into a massive behemoth capable of eating whole asteroids. My latest ship has been built with the 3x options, it's taken something like 20 hours so far, and is basically just a skeleton with a great big scoop at the end. Infinite space and procedural asteroids was the most epic christmas present they could have given the community. Despite my comments in another thread (which I do stand by), I've had a blast with the game. It's one of those marmite type games though. I could easily see why some would not enjoy it.
  5. I'll hold my hand's up and apologize for my part in any OT stuff too, but I must admit that the tangential discussion provides interesting food for thought - within a different thread. On topic, I wholeheartedly agree, Squad are to be commended for keeping focus on the job at hand.
  6. Well we can at least expect newbie-friendly tutorials from M'aiq Kerman. I have this on good authority from M'aiq himself.
  7. I assume this is the post in question? I have to admit I'm a little perturbed by KeenSWH's announcement. Bear in mind that medieval engineers is actually their third project that they are developing - there's also the 'secret' project. It doesn't sit right with me, in much the same way that chucklefish have been operating. It's not unreasonable to expect devs to finish the job at hand. I'm waiting to see what happens personally, but I will agree with the criticisms that are being leveled against the multiplayer, it's a bit mind-boggling to me that keen don't run a public server, especially since they seem to be hanging their hat on 'cannot reproduce' for many of the dedicated server bugs. (I have to admit I feel a bit sorry for Phand, as she seems to be the public face when it comes to bug-reporting.) It's early days yet tho, but the userbase has legitimate reasons for concern for sure imo. EDIT: I should point out that up to this point I have been quite happy with progress on space engineers, although I have noticed that the last update seemed to bring a number of strange lag bursts, and unexplained motion in large ships while welding blocks - and this is in singleplayer.
  8. This is clearly where our opinions differ. But this bit: Funny thing about that. As users, we all want different things, but there is one common thing that unites all of us. This is what we paid Harvester & the other devs to do.
  9. Well there was the kerfuffle over the barn, kerbal experience affecting engines, a u-turn on resources and probably a few other things that I can't think of. Whether you will consider that proof is another matter, but it certainly seems to me that Squad listens to suggestions.
  10. So to paraphrase: "I'm no longer going to use a product I already paid for, thereby reducing the dev's support overhead, and basically making their life easier." Yup, going to be super-successful with that approach.
  11. I'm in a similar boat, I've spent the past 20 or so years learning bits of various languages, starting with ZX Spectrum BASIC and currently sitting at relatively proficient with PHP. I know that I want to learn some form of C, but haven't been able to decide between C, C++ or C#. Frankly, everyone I ask gives me a different answer. The one bit of advice I've seen come up again and again is to keep learning different languages - each has it's own mindset, and will teach you to think about things in a slightly different way. Beyond that, the only thing I can suggest is to just dip your toe into anything that looks interesting, you'll probably figure out fairly quickly if it clicks with you, and definitely have a goal in mind, otherwise you really won't get much further than the 'hello world' stage. I look forward to reading other opinions on the subject.
  12. I'm curious about this too. There seems to be a lot of proclamations about what squad are or are not going to do in regards to aerodynamics. I'm getting the impression that they've hired a few more members of the community, but somehow I seem to have missed any announcement on that.
  13. Agreed, thanks for the summary. I'm having problems using the twitch site at all at the moment so I haven't been able to catch the squadcast for the last couple of weeks.

    Squadcasts

I've suggested this a couple of times, it's a very worthwhile idea imho. There are other podcasts available such as TB's co-optional podcast that livestream on twitch and then upload the podcast to youtube, so it is certainly doable.
  15. Here's the author of the video explaining how he faked the video above. See 1m 45s onwards.
  16. Being offended by something is no justification for what happened in France. Je suis charlie.
  17. There's been an increasing tendancy for farmers to cut down the circles almost as soon as they are discovered, according to Nexus magazine. Many farmers now consider the phenomenon a hassle they'd rather not deal with. Personally I go with the guys with planks theory. Some of the designs are pretty decent though, I have to give them that.
  18. You're missing an option for 500-1000. I'm at about 600, and I'm not usually much of a guy for taking screenshots in games.
  19. Still haven't seen the third one, but the main issue I had with the hobbit series of films was how they took a book that was smaller than one of the lord of the rings books, and turned it into three films. God only knows how many films they plan to squeeze out of the silmarillion.
  20. Ideally I'd like to be able to set the default throttle on a per craft basis in the VAB, probably as part of staging. Being able to adjust the default throttle globally via the settings menu would be a perfectly acceptable second choice. It'd be a small quality-of-life improvement. Having to hit 'z' before I launch the rocket isn't a huge deal, but I would greatly appreciate this kind of change.
  21. FYI malwarebytes has a free version. No need to cast aspersions.
  22. Wow, I'd all but forgotten about Jetpac. One of the first games I played on my spectrum. Welcome aboard!
  23. If you think that's something, you need to see the Rocky Horror Picture Show in a cinema.
  24. For me, the best games I bought that came out in 2014: Metal Gear Rising: Revengance Ultra Street Fighter 4 South Park: The Stick Of Truth USF4 is the only one I paid full price for. (Well I bought SSF4:AE for €5 and pre-ordered the upgrade.) Every other game I bought this year was released prior to 2014 afaik. Steam sales, they're a hell of a thing.
