  1. Try doing a suicide burn on Tylo and then tell me it's effective... Look at the video on post number #2 of the thread that Mhoram posted http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/39812-Landing-and-Takeoff-Delta-V-vs-TWR-and-specific-impulse?p=510523&viewfull=1#post510523 This is how I land except on bodies with low gravity...
  2. Gah, I hate Twitch... I wish they would use something better... It's like the youtube that couldn't....
  3. Must, see, test.... Mine is quite a bit larger and uses several aerospikes and 2 levels of asparagus staging. Gets into orbit with with 1200 Delta-V left so I can still do a bit of travelling...
  4. Apple is always late to the party with features, and then things like the latest update comes out and ooops, can't make calls anymore! But all the Apple fanboys still spend all their money on the newest one like it's water in a desert... Was an Android user but got sick of all the crappy apps and spyware on the app market. Now a Windows Phone user for 3 years and will never go back.
  5. Damn, this would have come in handy before starting my mission to all the moons and planets... I have SO MANY of them with me because I have to ditch them once they're used!
  6. Yes! Hello mod request Could be as simple as something that takes screenshots for say, 30 seconds when the G-Forces shoot up... Or when parts get physical stress. Could also have a green/red toggle in the toolbar. Could also go by the way car dash cams work; Screenshots are taken constantly, but the mod goes back 10 seconds and deleted them at the same time. If something "interesting" happens, it keeps the last 10 seconds of shots, and the next X seconds after (X can be determined by the player)...
  7. Don't need it, runs perfectly fine, and it doesn't even use 1/3 of my 16GB of RAM... Oh, for 32-bit, once you start getting close to 3GB of RAM, you're approaching crashtown. Can't go by the folder size for this because some small mods use more RAM than its filesize...
  8. Got you beat using the benchmark and FAR. Only other mod used was MechJeb. Stock benchmark painted "Neon Ghost".... And we're off! Burning up through the sky! Coasting to AP Circularized Dropping PE Down we go! Yes, tail first! Slow it down! And there you have it ladies and gentlemen! A perfectly balanced turn on his tail! What a feat! Burning back towards KSC Long way to go! GO! GO! GO! FASTER FASTER! Slow it down... Out of gas! Slow slow slow, glide it to the runway, which I still had gas! Almost there, line it up! Aaaaaaaaand.... Landed! 23 Minutes and 56 seconds! I can definitely improve this by quite a bit. My return trip was botched a bit and my AP got too high so I had to correct it. I also had some wobbles when I tipped on my tail doing the turn-around maneuver. I can definitely optimize my return and probably shave off another 30-60 seconds. But for now, I have a mission story line to work on I'll do another run, but not today.
  9. In Windows? 0 mods... It will always crash lol Mine is 3.3GB with 47 mods and I get no crashes, ever. But I'm running KSP 64-bit in Linux
  10. Well, I'm flying a massive ship in a mission currently, and it started with 657 parts. (The link is in my signature, Avalon) Wasn't exactly smooth as silk but it was still very playable... My clock in the top right was yellow most of the time with the odd green flickers, but it never went red. I've had spacestations with fewer parts in the Windows version go red on me and it was painful to try to work with it... And, it crashed all the time...
  11. I run EVE along with Distant Object Enhancer, City Light and Clouds, KerbalSide, Texture Replacer etc etc etc and it runs just fine. Do it, you won't ever go back to playing KSP on windows Oh, by the way, make SURE you download/install the 64-bit linux!!
  12. By the way, I do HIGHLY recommend using Kubuntu. I've used many different distros and this one was the best right out of the box.... KSP never crashes. Like, ever. Tried running KSP in windows recently and it was a crash fest.... Haha, no, it's the KDE version of Ubuntu Depends, I use almost 50 mods and I'm well over 4GB....
  13. No problems here. ATI Radeon 7990XT. Installed Kubuntu, went to the system settings and chose to use AMD/ATI drivers, restart and no problems.
  14. I think it's just something else to make everyone on the forum go crazy. The devs and anyone else involved are all laughing at the people on the forum....
  15. That and trying to get a good trajectory back to the runway. I hit a learning curve with FAR in this aspect because it treats the atmosphere differently...
  16. If your F1-F12 don't work, then how are you quickloading and quicksaving?
  17. What? No electric propellers allowed? Also, you may want to set a maximum altitude as a rule to prevent sub-orbital hops... And flight summary screen shown in the end to show max altitude during mission.
  18. I'm on day 3 (in real life) of my never-ending flight around Kerbin using only electric engines and solar panels. The only mods used are Mechjeb and Firespitter. 4 days, 5 hours, 22 minutes (Kerbal time) 7,561,074 meters travelled, and all below 9000m altitude. Not sure how many times I've made it around the planet.... I'm barely going faster than the sun, but it's almost directly over top of me now so I may have to slow down soon by about 1-2 m/s (older pic showing the craft)
  19. Well, first, I said longest, not furthest. Also, you didn't show the flight summary window to prove how far you went. You could just be SAYING that you did it 5 times, or 20 times, no proof... Anyways... my latest 4 days, 5 hours, 22 minutes 7,561,074 meters, and all below 9000m altitude. ..... And still going!
  20. I don't use FAR and I don't do spaceplanes, but, I'm good at Delta-V's, math and trajectories.... Stock entry is almost ready, and I'm still tweaking my FAR entry. Plane: The Macheto Mk VI And yes, I'm only using stock, MechJeb, Spaceplane+ and FAR Mach 1 @ 5000m Mach 2.5 @ 16,500m
  21. Well this game isn't real life is it... I'm sure in real life there are SRB's that gimble
  22. What Laie said. You can't steer with boosters. SRB's just thrust in a staight line, and it's lots of thrust, so trying to fight that force pushing you straight up with wings will be a losing battle. Use more liquid fuel rockets with engines that gimble. You can still use SRB's, but they're mostly only used in the beginning of the launch to get you moving through the lower altitudes.
  23. Update, still going! 5,250,919 meters = 525,091 +75 points for have 5 power consuming parts Double points for using electric engines Triple points for being faster than the sunset (I caught up to it and I'm slowly overtaking it) 3,150,996 Points
  24. Picture will help yes. So, are the wings just wings? Or are they control surfaces? Static wings won't help you, you need control surfaces that will actually move and steer it. Also, they should be as close to the bottom of the rocket as possible.
  25. Actually, I did, hence why I angled the engines, so it would roll forward before lifting off. See on my last sceenshot distance travelled, I rolled before taking off and let it roll before hitting the brakes on landing. Horizontal takeoff and landing acheived, even though it was very very short And thanks, according to the OP, my entry is indeed valid, thanks for the backup.
