Yes, you could do this, but since Unity does the physics calculations, that all depends on if you have access to thread management. You could easily have 2 ships on screen each being calculated by a different thread provided they aren't interacting with each other. If I were programming it, I would simply set a threshold so that if the ships come to within 1m of each other, then they get handled by a single thread.

I installed procedural tanks and deleted all other tanks except the ones for planes. My tanks tab is now nice and clean and it's easy to make clean matching rockets.
-
Keep in mind that those were pre-1.x numbers... I dont get that anymore
-
Yeah, my ship Avalon is 657 parts and played at probably 80% speed and about 25 fps.
-
X2 on procedural tanks. Saves part count drastically. Not sure what changed dramatically in 1.x to make it so much more CPU intensive but probably the new aero calculations. I used to be able to fly 600 part ships smoothly but now my computer struggles with 200 parts... And it's a beast.

I think I'll do one mission at a time... I just hate wasting years

Modelling frustrations and resizing in Blender
xtoro replied to xtoro's topic in KSP1 Modelling and Texturing Discussion
I don't want to use the scale option, I want to actually resize them so I can keep scale at 1. But when I resize in blender it uses the mouse. How can I resize parts by typing in a size in metric, or in percentage? I don't want to just eyeball it... -
Please teach me how to plane.

For your turning question, it's best to roll. Yaw is typically used for small correction and to compensate for drifting sideways in crosswinds. It can also help a bit when doing a rolling turn so that you don't end up falling sideways towards the ground. -
Are all liquids in the Kerbolar System equal?

Good question. And I would say that yes, the "water" behaves the same on all bodies. But, Eve for example has stronger gravity so you'll sink more and need more buoyancy. -
Having vessel+lander simultaneously in atmosphere

Do a search for KSP FMRS. It's a mod that allows you to decouple 2 ships, land one, then go back in time to control the other one and safely land it. This way you don't have to try to control both at the same time, which you usually can't do anyways. -
I'm SSTOing again. (I don't SSTO in my sleep....)
-
I don't SSTO anymore.

To be fair to the OP, I used that long ago to start playing with modding and I've found most of the linked stuff to be very outdated. Someone needs to do a complete overhaul on the tutorials and update, as well as remove the old stuff.

Struggling to export model correctly
xtoro replied to Hexicube's topic in KSP1 Modelling and Texturing Discussion
Maybe the problem is that you're using Unity 5 instead of 4.2. KSP doesn't use U5 yet. Try downloading 4.2. -
So despite all the outdated tutorials I've found, I managed to actually load a model into the game, but, issues... Model in Blender: Model in Unity: And in KSP: All good thus far! So now, I ended up with this size by following a really really old tutorial and now I'm stuck with an odd-sized 2m part. What I need to do is resize this entire model from 2m to 1.75m. Other than tweaking the scale values, how can I actually resize everything to a specific size? There are several objects in my model so I need to resize ALL of them... And lastly, is there a more streamlined way to model other than Blender>Unity>KSP? Mainly texturing? I hate the UV mapping in Blender. It's not exactly intuitive to use. Any tips are appreciated! XT

I do use KAC. It's not about missing windows, it's about the waiting... I might do what you said regex. Pull everyone back to Kerbin and probe away. But that makes it feel like I'm wasting time with all the warping. Can't win lol
-
Camel Spiders! Dealt with those suckers in Afghanistan. 1/3 of them is just jaws. You have to shake your boots out every morning before putting them on because they like to crawl into things. I didn't want to post a camel spider bite because it's gruesome, but feel free to do a google image search yourself, but don't say I didn't warn you!

My career mode save is a mess. Thank god for KAC, but I'm doing way too many things at once. I launch a probe to Jool, do stuff on Duna, get more science, get a other Jool contract, so send another probe. Do stuff on Minmus, send something back from Duna and get 20 other things on the go while I'm waiting for my first probe to get to Jool. Finally gets there, do science, return to Kerbin. Second probe for Jool is only halfway there.... I'm sure you see what I mean and run into the same. I feel like just leaving my Kerbals on the other planets for a few years to time warp just so I can get my probes to and from Jool but it seems like a waste of time for the poor Kerbals on the moons and on Duna... But I get anxious to get the missions to far away planets done. What do you do? Leave them and time warp? Or do you just keep going and pile up the missions while probes and ships are on very long interplanetary trips?

As mentioned, it's a 2 step solution. Step 1: Install KJR. Step 2: Be happy.
-
Note that when you post s pic of your plane, make sure its in the SPH with the COM and COL showing. I make them so that they overlap 50%. But your fuel has to be balanced.
-
Try this! RCS is enough to lift a rover off the ground on Minmus.
-
If it's gonna be on Minmus, you could ditch the legs and just use RCS thrusters to lift the rover once you're underneath it. That would eliminate messing with leg heights and having the perfect distance between docking port and ground...

I'm running out of things to do. Perfect 1.x spaceplanes Finish Avalon
-
Yeah I should have mentioned that wing wheels work best if your wings are near the back and they can line up closely to your rear wheels. Otherwise you easily end up spinning around lol

Imagine it? I saw it. It's called "Tron" lol
