A simple plain MANLY Mun landing
Aphobius replied to krona14's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Ok, as promised: Entry (or whatever xD this is not serious) I've streamed it on twitch earlier, evil people, no one told me that my microphone is making that noise, my voice is annoying anyway, you can mute it. It was the second time I was explaining it, so the explanations are not complete, so you better mute it. You can start the scoreboard, my time seems to be 12:26:50. But you'll have a surprise if anyone tries to beat me. EDIT: To make it a little more interesting would be nice to add a new rule, to require to land on ground, without any damage. Crashing randomly on the dark side of Kerbin is a little obnoxious. -
A simple plain MANLY Mun landing
Aphobius replied to krona14's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
He said it already. "You can only use cockpit view!" Ok, we spam this topic too much, I'll post an entry a little later, after I get home, I can do it pretty easily, but it's going to be very "kerbal". -
A simple plain MANLY Mun landing
Aphobius replied to krona14's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Except the altitude. =)) (joking, you miss much more) Maybe I'm wrong about the altitude, but I don't know how you would read altitudes over 100km on that altimeter (I'm not home so I can't check it). -
A simple plain MANLY Mun landing
Aphobius replied to krona14's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
It can be done, but not in a "scientific" way, since you miss a lot of vital data (I think you can't even see the altitude while you are in the cockpit). -
God of Kerbal After all I've used my old trusty rocket.

Thank you. I'm kinda bored anyway right now, I'll make another one especially for this challenge. I stream it on twitch if anyone wanna see it. (my name is Aphobius there too)

Entry Did it a few days ago, I can easily land it, but score it as you want. I might make another one especially for this challenge.

Docking Alignment on Navball
Aphobius replied to KwirkyJ's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Oh my god, when I see these threads. Seriously, whats wrong with docking? I can dock anything, small, big, unbalanced, 1 docking port, 7 docking ports ... anything and I can do it very fast. Maybe you can't, but what do you want? To play a game and be able to do everything after 1 hour? There are enough stupid games like that on consoles, that doesn't require any thinking. Do you want to dumb down this game too? Docking is working perfectly fine in stock game, you can dock anything without any difficulty, you don't miss any required information or indicators or anything, you've got enough "data" in the stock game to be able to dock anything. If you are not able to do it and you don't like learning new things, there are enough addons that gives you all the indicators you want or even do it for you. PS: Your suggestion is not terribly bad, although you can dock anything in the stock game right now, the "instruments only" information is not complete. But I think the game, as it is now, makes people to understand much better whats happening with the crafts during the docking, makes you to think a little about vectors, forces etc. If we would be able to do it instruments only, people would just learn some simple procedure and would do it without any thinking, without understanding what really happens with the crafts. I'm just a little upset because people ignored my thread about SAS, while spamming useless threads and useless suggestions. -
.22 SAS is now all WIbbely Wobbly (but not timey wimey)
Aphobius replied to JebidiahsBigSister's topic in KSP1 Discussion
So many threads about SAS with people just saying that it's not working and give no solution. I've made a thread too, but no one wanted to discuss there. The best solution would be if they would program SAS like a proper PID controller (based on thee angular velocity) and give us access to the values of the gains. That would make everyone happy and it could have some default values for the noobs. But since everyone is making threads writing random things, crying that it doesn't work how they want and giving no solution, I guess the developers are not even reading these threads anymore. -
Bridge you say? Kinda bored of the space travel stuff, I do mostly crazy stuff now (VTOLs, aircrafts, helicopters etc.).

[Romania] Intrebari si nelamuriri / Discutii generale
Aphobius replied to WopsS's topic in International
Ops, haven't seen this before I've opened a new topic today. Anyway, in this topic the problem is presented wrong and the solution is random. I suggest you to read about PID controllers and you can join my topic if you want to discuss more about SAS problems and potential solutions (although I already gave a very good solution to the problem and I don't think it can be improved).
-
Hey, once again I'm not happy with the SAS performance in 0.22, the one in 0.21.1 was fine. But I guess you can't make everyone happy, some people like it some way, other people like it other way, noobs might like it some crazy way. I guess SAS is some kind of PID controller, would be nice if you would let us modify the gains of each term (proportional, integral and derivative), something like a small window with 3 numbers. I guess that would make many experienced players very happy and it could have some default values for beginners. I would really like to see this in game and it would remove forever the annoyances that we get with SAS in every new patch. Thank you, Aphobius

KSC to Mun landing fastest MET
Aphobius replied to Aphobius's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Too bad it wasn't raised too much. -
KSC to Mun landing fastest MET
Aphobius replied to Aphobius's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Well done, but you must get 3 kerbals to the Mun and without any autopilot of any kind, only manual control. -
KSC to Mun landing fastest MET
Aphobius replied to Aphobius's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Please post entries according to the rules and I'm pretty sure there are other places where you can venerate "The Great Manley", unless he'll ever try this challenge without cheats. -

Another entry from me. Video -
KSC to Mun landing fastest MET
Aphobius replied to Aphobius's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Well done, but taking kerbals makes it considerably harder, because of the extra weight of the pod/pods. -

No one else wanna try it? -
You must land 3 kerbals (only pods, no seats) on the Mun with a mission elapsed time as low as possible. Build anything you want, launch it from KSC and land it on the Mun. Rules: -only stock parts -no mods (except information mods, I'm using kerbal engineer) -kerbals must be alive after landing -you cannot decouple any command part to reset the MET -no debug console You can post pictures or videos. If you post pictures, post at least one on the launchpad, one between Kerbin and Mun and one landed, but I prefer videos. Leaderboard: Aphobius - 34:12 - Amagi82 - 37:13 Johnno - 1:09:16
