  1. Hahaha, anyway, my video is done without map view. Going to the Mun is easy, going to other planet and return would be more interesting. I gone a few times to Duna IVA only, but haven't tried to return yet, anyway, I wouldn't encounter great difficulties.
  2. Video Sorry for that noise, anyway, I don't think I say anything interesting, so probably you can mute it.
  3. He's using a mod that got the real earth, so the atmosphere is higher.
  4. I didn't knew about this pressure thing, I was thinking they disappear only if they hit the ground. That would have made it more interesting, but anyway, let's see who can get the lowest score possible. It might be easier to use Ap alt + Pe alt as the score, instead of the semi-major axis.
  5. Video Everything is stock. EDIT: Don't forget to watch the landing.
  6. My 4yo nephew loves this game. He got so excited when I showed it to him. He likes challenges, so he asked me what's the hardest thing to do, I've told him that a landing and return mission from Eve is the hardest thing to do in this game. Next day I was amazed to see he already built a ship with a crew of 4 kerbals, capable of landing on Eve and return. And because he always liked the space shuttle, he built that ship in orbit, using a shuttle to launch the parts.
  7. Here's the surprise I was talking about. Video Sorry again for the landing xD, if I would have tried it one more time probably I could have done it without breaking that fuel tank ... but it's kerbal after all. =)) EDIT: HAHAHA, now do I get a bonus vinsent? =)) =)) Joking. Well done for your entry, landing legs were not really needed, so it's almost like you did it with 7 parts.
  8. The point of going to the Mun and back in 10 minutes is to make you look like a noob, since it can be done in 2 minutes. What's the point of Formula 1? You have to do things fast in a short amount of time, some people are better, some people are worse, so speedrunning makes a good competition. EDIT: Speedrunning in kerbal allows for great creativity, but there is a small problem with people being able to copy what you do. For example anyone can copy the procedure from my 2 minutes Mun video. But I'm sure that very few people could have invented that procedure or a better one by themselves. Procedure meaning the design of the ship, the maneuvers, the time warping etc.
  9. When I have time I can try to make a thread in the challenges forum, with a list of speedruns, with instructions, leaderboard etc. for each of them. But people usually don't participate in this kind of challenges, one of the biggest problems being that they require a video. I guess the actual problem is not the video itself, but that they are not allowed to quicksave/quickload.
  10. Here it is, 4 parts. I gave up on the surprise that I was talking about, maybe some other time, didn't had time to do it today.
  11. As you burn fuel the mass of the goo pod becomes more significant and the center of mass moves towards the goo pod. Try to make your rockets symmetrical.
  12. Nice video, I didn't had the patience to watch all of it, but it looks nice. Anyway, it doesn't seem suitable for a speed run. I've remembered about other video of mine, that could also become a speed run. I launch, rendezvous and dock (to a station in 100km orbit) in 5 minutes. The challenge was about the game time, but probably would work with time warp too or for this one we could disallow time warp, but the game time is still not a good indicator, since some people could lag the game on purpose to make the rocket easier to control.
  13. What's the problem? My time warp is easier to stop than yours? EDIT: It's decided by everything, I honestly think it would be easier for you to learn how to stop the time warp than how to do the rest of the things properly. EDIT 2: The biggest skill required for what I've done in my video is the building of the rocket. Other things are moderately easy to learn and execute. But building the rocket is based on your reaction time and precision. If you train a long period of time, eventually you'll hit a wall and you'll not be able to improve your build time. For example I do it in 20 seconds, but I'm sure some korean starcraft player could do it faster, maybe even 10 seconds.
  14. How very unimpressive to be a fail troll that doesn't add anything to the topic. The OP asked about speed runs, I've posted exactly that, a speed run video. And if you think it's unimpressive I wait for your entry on the challenges forum, you've got the link in the description of my video. EDIT: I had that speed run record before the patch too, it was 2:50 with the old parts, it took me only 30 minutes or so to get this new time, so there is a lot of place to improve it, I guess the perfect run with my procedure would be around 1:50. So if anyone wanna try it, I would enjoy some competition.
  15. Another one ... Speed run = you start a timer, you do stuff, you stop the timer That's what I did. I started the timer, I built a rocket, landed on the mun, returned to kerbin, stopped the timer. It took me 2 minutes and 8 second. Is it really that hard to understand this from the video? Do I really have to explain it? If you want game time record, I also have the record for the fastest time to the mun .EDIT: The 34 minutes video is from the last patch. I was thinking about doing it again with the new parts and also return. I'm pretty sure I can do it in under 45 minutes. But I find this speed running thing more interesting, it takes much more skill than building a huge rocket and watch the game running in slow motion for 30 minutes.
  16. Really? Why did you posted that crap? You think you "showed me"? My record is the fastest time to build a rocket, land on the mun and return to kerbin in real time, not game time. Look again, my video is not speed up, it's what I was seeing on my screen, in real time. What are we supposed to see in your video? Some infinite fuel cheater that also speed up the video. EDIT: If it isn't clear for anyone. He can post whatever crap he wants, but my reaction was related to him quoting me and saying "Nope.".
  17. That's without mods or debug window. If you mean the fastest game time record. I've got the record for going to the Mun, , but it's done in the last patch. In the new patch, with the new parts, I think I could land on the mun and return in under 45 minutes. I might try it these days.
  18. And another place where I can post my new video. I saw a few times people doing "space races" would funny if I would do it with someone "3, 2, 1, GO" .... "I'm done." ... "What do you mean you are done?". =))
  19. I prepare a new entry for this challenge, it's going to be a big surprise. =)) Now I'm not home, but probably tomorrow I'll post it. You don't look like a bright fellow. You can just divide the game time by the time warp multiplier (mostly the 4x parts) and compare it with a real clock. What more proof than that do you want? Now the real thing that needs a proof is if YOU can get to the Mun and back at all, because I can't see your entry, but only you being offtopic and making a fool of yourself.
  20. Leaderboard Aphobius - 4 parts (the landings are on the Neil Armstrong Memorial and on the helipad) vinsent10 - I've added this leaderboard since it looks like the OP is not between us anymore. But if he's coming back and wanna add it himself, I'll remove mine. Old post: It's not made especially for this challenge, but here it is. 15 parts, including 4 struts (I don't know if you want to include struts as parts or not). Do I get a bonus for doing it in 2 minutes and 8 seconds? =))
  21. It looks like no one wanted to try my challenge. A new entry from me using the new parts from the last patch.
  22. Yeah, I have some kind of box around the fuel tanks. I'll try that KAS mod.
  23. They don't work for single ships, but here the orange tanks are separate ships. So if the whole ship is in circular orbit, the orange fuel tanks that are closer to the planet have a lower speed than it's required for a circular orbit so they try to fall, while the fuel tanks the are further away from the planet have a higher speed than it's required for a circular orbit so they are pulled higher. But in my video the ship gets accelerated towards a vertical attitude and when it reaches a vertical attitude it already have a high angular speed so it keeps rotating and as a result that oscillation happens. If you set the initial conditions correctly, that oscillation shouldn't happen and it should remain in a vertical attitude. I usually don't use mods, but maybe I'll try some for this. EDIT: About time warp, I haven't used time warp for this one either since it's removing the angular speed, as you've said. I left it like 10 hours on 4x physics warp.
  24. I've tried to make a gravity gradient stabilized station. Since it's that long I had some problems with the control (a.k.a. I couldn't control it at all), so I couldn't get in the correct attitude and give it the proper angular speed. So I just left it there a few hours to see what happens. The orange fuel tanks are separate ships, I used 4x physics warp in game and after that I've speed up the video 30 times. Even if it's not ... stabilized, the effects of the gravity gradient are obvious (one end is always closer to the planet than the other end). Would be nice to see if we can get something to maintain it's attitude relative to the ground by using the gravity gradient, so you can try it and post videos if you want. Probably I'll also try to improve this one (make it longer, distribute the weight better, make it controllable so I can set the initial conditions better etc.).
