My personal opinion is that rude feedback helps people to acknowledge better what they are doing wrong, if you just say it nicely, they are like "lalala, whatever, i still think it might be better my way". Anyway, I don't argue this is good or everyone should be like this, so it doesn't matter. All of you talk about how we all must be nice to each other and give constructive feedback etc. Ok, I don't disagree with you, maybe that would be nice. But you are just talking about how you would want things to be, while I'm talking about the things really are and they are not going to change, this is how people are and topics like this and things that you are saying are not going to change them. EDIT: You are confusing things, when they ask people what they would like in the game (feedback program or what you were talking about), that's one thing, they just get a simple idea and they improve it by themselves. When they make surveys and things like that, that's something else. That's a little more than normal feedback. What I was talking about is that they don't listen to people from the forum that make hundreds of threads "protoss OP omg, nerf" or "OMG zerg weak, make hydras tech 1". And even threads that seem good, I don't think they ever done something because people wrote something on the forum.

About the first part, that's my opinion, it's hard for me or you to prove who is right about that. About the bold part, you should have read the last paragraph of my post.

Ahaha, 5 pages. If everyone tells you that your mod sucks, maybe it really sucks. "Boohoohoo, but I did it for free", yeah, so what, do you want to be venerated by everyone because you've done some crap for free? If you are a good developer, even if this sounds strange, you should never listen to feedback. Just an extreme example, think about Blizzard, do you think they even read the feedback? Yet, they have some of the best games ever made (WoW and Starcraft 2, they are like the only MMORPG and RTS that deserve being played, other games of that kind are not coming even close to this two). And look on their forums, people say all kind of crap about the new dungeons, about the future dungeons, about balance in Starcraft etc. Do Blizzard ever listen to them? No. Because they are professional and confident that they are the best, it's not like the people on the forum are smarter than them or better than them at game design or anything. If you make something and someone says bad things about it and you get offended, you get offended because you know that he's right or you are not confident enough to know that he's not right. Or if you get offended by people who talk random things ... really? Guess what, this is how people are and they are not going to change, making topics like this is not going to turn the world into a better place, what are you going to do?

All of you talking about how great the community is. It just means you haven't met me yet. =)) =))

You can see the time in the top left 29 minutes and 42 seconds. I don't know what's not clear. Please don't ask for other proof than that, since that is a slow time and I can do it much faster. I could make a video, but this challenge is mostly about the design of your rocket and of the procedure and people can just copy it if they see it in a video. If anyone beats it or people post their entries with much slower times and they insist that my time is not possible, I'll post a video (with a much better time). The challenge is good enough, it takes knowledge to design the rocket and the procedure and skill to execute it. If you never competed in such challenges (which is obvious from the things you are saying), I don't see what is your reason to come here to say that it's too easy and anyone would get almost the same time and that kind of things. I didn't really understood what you've meant with "save scumm", but if it was referring to quick save, I consider quick saving cheating and I doubt that someone that constantly use it can be competitive in any time challenge. EDIT: Just to be clear, that time from the top left is very accurate for the purpose of this challenge. I'm not sure about the date on the flags, but I think it shows only the years/days. The date on the flag is exactly that time from the top left (the game time since you've created the save file), but less precise. So I suggest you to use that time instead of the date from the flags. And obviously add back Mun and Minmus. EDIT 2: You could omit 1y1d for times that took less than 1 day. And anyway, it should be y1d1, you don't want people to think it took me 1 year to get to the Mun. =))

Launch Escape System Challenge!
Aphobius replied to ZooNamedGames's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I expect all the people that voted "No" to land on the Mun and return. We can have a time challenge, who does it faster. -
That shadows look a little strange, but that control surfaces are not clipped, they are just the shadows from the control surfaces from above. You could add that leaderboard, but I think you've forgot my light class. It's a little hard to catch it, but it's there, 0.0m/s at 14s.
-
Parts are not a problem, they could load the planets/moons later, when you get close to them.

Are you not updating the leaderboard anymore? A little video that I've made, not necessarily related to this challenge.

Wanted: Precision Landing Tips and Tricks
Aphobius replied to Srpadget's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
What's that? Hovering at 10km and going straight down after that? Beginners shouldn't make tutorials. -
I'm using a keyboard, in the 27s video it's obvious, but in the 23s video it looks like a joystick because it's in slow motion and speed up.
-
Yeah, don't worry. Well done for that design, I wasn't thinking it's possible to be so fast with the parachutes opened all the time. That's why I've made mine like that, but mine is very hard and annoying to control. EDIT: You don't have to put my 23s time on the leaderboard, if someone else would have posted that I would have called him all kind of things. =)) =)) It is done in slow motion and speed up to normal speed in video editing software, I didn't bothered too much to hide it. I guess it's not against the rules, but I don't like things like this. EDIT 2: Slow motion is annoying for most people, because they are not perceiving the motion of the craft so well anymore, but when you know what you are doing, it's helping a lot.
-
I'm sorry GusTurbo for calling you a cheater, maybe you just have a really bad computer and it works at 1/2 speed even with that 50 parts craft (second video too). But it's ok, I like your design, even without slow motion it wouldn't be harder to control it, so the time would be about the same. But just to show you what happens when you are not more restrictive with "cheats". 0.0m/s at 23 seconds It's not against the rules and you can't say what's wrong with it, but things like this make the challenges unfun (is this a word? xD). Probably I could get like 15 seconds with other design.
-
I forgive you GusTurbo, God of Kerbal is a merciful God.
-
I was not expecting from you to be a cheater. Putting the "Hyperblaster" on the launchpad to do it at 0.5x speed doesn't take any skill. 0.0m/s at 27 seconds PS: You disappointed me GusTurbo.
-
Thank you. I always enjoy competition if you wanna try to beat it.
-
I like doing things with KOS, but I haven't used it for a while, it was not working in the last version of the game, but it looks like it got a new version now. This challenge is nice, but you shouldn't allow manual landing, since that's one of the most important parts of the flight.
-
Thank you. Thank you for your appreciation, but it's a little rude to say that my time is 60% slower than the best possible time. Or the one under the helipad. xD But that would limit the challenge to small crafts and it would not be so interesting anymore.
-
Only a fool would challenge a God and think he might win. EDIT: The speed is 0.0m/s at 48 seconds.
-
You beat and you could do way better, yet you can't read half of the rules: "In addition, it must be off the ground at all times except for when on the runway, and it must not be flown with the debug menu cheats. The plane must remain intact through the flight". I don't think loosing half of the craft by hitting the buildings and the ground counts as "off the ground" and "remain intact". Anyway, my craft was kinda big and not very efficient for this. My time should be easy to beat, if you can do it properly, I would enjoy the competition.
