[1.1.2] Kerbal Inventory System (KIS) 1.2.12
Snarfster replied to KospY's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I'd carry one extra docking port, and yes I would have to go through docking. However, I've never had that "bug/feature" you're talking about. The part is never deleted so the mission completes. I suppose it's personal preference. -
[1.1.2] Kerbal Inventory System (KIS) 1.2.12
Snarfster replied to KospY's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Why not use KIS to attach a dockingport junior to the part you need to return? Then dock with it and fly it back. With the node attach option it'll be perfectly balanced too. -
Looks interesting. Is that a planet with an atmosphere?

Hi RoverDude, Loving the mod, just one question. Is there a way I can only see the ships that have crew in the LS overview? Now it shows everything with a crew seat. This tends to make for a long list with all the shuttles, landers, rovers and whatnot I leave scattered around the Kerbol system.

The tourist trap, although far from complete, has started operations. It has received the first four tourists who are bound for Eve and Gilly. On the right is the tourist shuttle, just minutes after docking. On the left the return vehicle for the construction crew. Down below on the left you can see the resident 2.5m nuclear reactor, which keeps everything nice and toasty. Right now there are only three kerbals stationed here, so the work that can be done is limited. This will be the view the tourists will be enjoying until the next launch window to Eve. Thankfully there's plenty of stuff to do. (I wish tourists could EVA.)

Did some KAS assembly work on my Class E asteroid to turn it into a tourist trap/hub/transfer station. It involved juggling 11 kerbals on EVA to be able to attach the 3.5m KAS container to a radial attachment point that I drilled into the asteroid. Additionally, a nuclear reactor with cooling was installed so the base will have ample power. Just to add... having 11 kerbals on EVA around a 1000 ton rock is NOT fun.

You know you've built a huge rocket, when ...

He makes and shares what he likes, it just happens that a lot of people like the same thing -

My KSP install is turning into RoverDude Space Program. -

Why would he need to mention that? There is no official 64 bit windows version at this time. -
Once every green moon someone comes along and asks if mechjeb is cheating. To me, you play the game the way you like it. If you want to use mechjeb, do it. If you don't want to use it, don't. It's that simple.

Very much so, I sort of staggered two on the left and two on the right side. Flip over, extend gear and basically land on your wheels again.

Landing legs are great for righting flipped rovers.

Today, after yesterday's asteroid work, two rescue contracts were completed. One in Minmus orbit, and one on the surface. Being the total cheapskates that the Kerbal Space Program is, it was decided to combine the rescues with a training mission for four kerbonauts. The Minmus Return Lander (TM) proudly on the pad. The crew a tad worried about the late addition of the orbital rendezvous mission. They quickly found out that a design to land and return generally does not have the fuel to also pick someone up from orbit. Hence part of the return burn home had to be done with RCS. (They are not complaining, it is a vast improvement over the 25 mandatory spacewalks to push the spacecraft home, which happened last year.) On the way home, some execess weight was burned off. Who needs electricity anyway. Screaming through the lower atmosphere at mach 7. And finally a successful splash down 45 km south of the KSC. According to Wernher, it's not that much of a swim home. This mission brings the total number of active kerbonauts to 32, 33 if you count the tourist that's waiting for a Kerbol SOI trip.

Ohh I like this, very practical! Getting that 1000 ton type E into orbit was a royal pain with the pusher I made.

[1.1.2] Kerbal Inventory System (KIS) 1.2.12
Snarfster replied to KospY's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Do you mean by attachment node? You can by hitting R to change the node whilst KAS constructing it. If you mean symmetry, that's not possible. -
After a day of work and about half a million in fuel, I finally have my class E asteroid in a 1000 km equatorial orbit. This would have been nigh impossible without KIS and FTT's 5m SAS. Now I get to build a station in it

Why I really appreciate the Kerbal players here
Snarfster replied to RocketBlam's topic in KSP1 Discussion
The way I always understood that, it's due to the maritime origin of travel. Ships -> Aircraft -> Spacecraft. -
Just put the .craft file from your save directory somewhere where it's downloadable. What's the weight on that thing? (takeoff)
-
Mind sharing a craft file?

Why I really appreciate the Kerbal players here
Snarfster replied to RocketBlam's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Before KSP I thought I knew orbital mechanics, with a calculator. After a good number of hours crashing into things, getting lost in space and who knows what kind of mishaps, my understanding has massively improved. I'll leave this here.- 63 replies

I agree with you, the craft is a write off. It's a fun little expedition though

Late last night my massive (and quite useless, I found out) asteroid capture ship managed to rendezvous with and slowly nudge a class E asteroid into Kerbin orbit. Lift-off, aiming for a 130 degree inclination. Docked to the bugger. Man it's big. I'll spare you the details, but that grabber can't handle a lot of mainsails firing at once. Basically, what I thought would be a 3 minute burn, turned into a two hour ordeal. But... It worked. (And I have a very expensive fuel depot in orbit now... ) Now Eldin, Adbo and Dilbus Kerman have docked with the 1075 ton piece of rock. They'll start installing hardware that will be essential if we are to move it from it's current 6 by 50 million meter 130 deg inclination orbit to something a bit more "friendly" Final glory shot with the KSC peninsula just visible on the right side of the planet. Got lucky on the ore content, at 85%, there's about 913 tons of ore available. (Now how much fuel would that make?) Alright, one last shot to show the relative size of the asteroid compared to my three Kerbal shuttle. Insane, right?

Thanks for the heads up. This beast has it's own on board refinery. It's currently at Minmus converting cheese into rocket fuel.
