  1. You only need module manager for the module manager fix, you don't need module manager to go in and do it manually. Some people (like myself) would rather go in and change the 3 cfgs manually than download a mod for it. (Also, I know your first solution was the manual changing, and then you suggested module manager.) - - - Updated - - - Dang, it took me a long time after reading this to figure that out. Thought you made the typo, not me!
  2. Awesome. Hopefully this hotfix comes with fixed parachutes too, surely the devs don't support how they act now.
  3. As for the heatshield mass problem, Flowerchild found a solution, and I posted a new thread explaining how to do it. It's here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/117279-How-to-fix-those-hetashields%21-%28get-rid-of-command-pod-flipping-into-the-heat%21%29 If you added that with the heatshield thing on the main page more people would be able to fix it for themselves until the patch comes.
  4. Heatshields: They don't add their mass correctly, meaning reentry pods are unstable and you have to fight to keep it pointing retrograde. This is due to a very simple thing, they're flagged as physicsless. Meaning they add their weight to the parent part, without shifting CoM. A simple solution can be found here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/117279-How-to-fix-those-hetashields%21-%28get-rid-of-command-pod-flipping-into-the-heat%21%29
  5. I'm not sure, but you don't have to use that setting anymore. The pod will point itself retrograde hands off controls with no SAS.
  6. Noted. Thanks for the heads up! I'll put that in the first post. (I may have also edited the post you were referring to. ) - - - Updated - - - I have no idea.
  7. Changing the PhysicsSignificance to 0 means that the heatshield will now add its mass to the ship, so that when you add it to a pod, it shifts the CoM down, instead of just making the parent part heavier.
  8. Yeah I'm getting that on my laptop, can't figure it out either.
  9. Note: Flowerchild was the first to find this, so he gets the credit. I just decided to make a thread so everyone could find it easier. Go to your KSP folder and follow this address: GameData/Squad/Parts/Aero/HeatShield Here you will find HeatShield1.cfg, HeatShield2.cfg, and Heatshield3.cfg. (don't mess with the .mu files) Open up each CFG using notepad or whatever you use, and hit ctrl+F to open the search function, and type "physics" and hit enter. It will take you to a line that reads "PhysicsSignificance = 1" Change the 1 to a 0, for each heatshield cfg, and your heatshields will now add their mass to your craft the right way! Meaning that instead of just adding it's mass to the parent part, it will now add its mass right where it is, which means it will shift the CoM when you place it. Which means a pod with a heatshield on it will now reenter without SAS or any fighting, it will naturally point retrograde now! Here is another way of fixing it, using ModuleManager. Again, thanks to Flowerchild for finding this, and ignath for letting me know about the module manager patch. Enjoy reentering!
  10. Floppy rockets are back. The joint strengthening of 23.5 seems to have disappeared. Struts are now needed on simple rockets that use more than one tank. Not sure how that happened.
  11. One word: Parachutes. Try deploying a parachute in the upper atmosphere. Even at 35km it will stop your craft almost instantly. Not trying to be mean, and this is supposed to be constructive. Parachutes need a rebalance for the aero. or maybe we just shouldn't deploy them until way down. But then the craft won't stay heat shield down.... Not sure what to do. I'll just deal with it now, as its overshadowed by awesomeness.
  12. I had just a pod+heat shield. And it wouldn't go backwards. It flipped nearly nose first. That's not how it works in real life. Not that "offset"
  13. I absolutely love this update. I love almost everything about it. The parachutes are confusing me though. pulling 20Gs at 30,000 meters is a bit....odd. and my pod falling at only 200 m/s at 20,000 meters is weird too. But I'm not a complainer, so back to my 1.0 career.
  14. Indeed, I was at 20,000 meters and going 200 m/s because of the parachute. I have no idea how that got through to release. I'm not trying to be negative, but that is a pretty big issue.
  15. Yeah, you get a second chance if you get hit by a spaceship.
  16. Updated OP with instructions.
  17. You mean the meme moon? I hate that, it flies by super close and screws everything up. Also, low and fast and dangerous is the way to go.
  18. I made a little highscore game in forum games, where you post a screenshot of your highest score in Voar. You can find it here http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/116795-Voar-Highscore%21?p=1868694#post1868694 Also, deadpangod I see you playing right now.
  19. There is this really cool game called "voar" which is like asteroids, kessler syndrome, and a 2d version of KSP combined. It can be played here: http://voar.io/ Game Instructions To play the game, you only need to use the left mouse button. Every time you click, it send you a little more prograde. Its like a tiny burst of delta-v every time you click. You'll get the hang of it pretty quickly. The point of this game is to take a screenshot of your highest score on Voar. (when you crash, your score is still displayed on the bottom, hit "print screen" to take a screenshot) Post your screenshot here, and I will keep a leaderboard on this post. There isn't really a way to prove that you actually took the screenshot though, as your name isn't displayed on screen. If you wanna prove it was you, have another tab open in your browser with the KSP forums in it. That would help a lot. Please remember that this is a friendly competition, so no rampant bragging or putting others down. Leaderboard: Also, to moderators, I wasn't entirely sure where to put this, it isn't a KSP challenge, so I put it in forum games. Hope I didn't put it in the wrong place.
  20. Does anyone know why after a while you can't change orbit anymore? I was at 2600 and I couldn't change orbit and crashed. Also, spartwo what's your nick on there? Mines my username. And yeah I was at 1900 and he did it and I was in Low orbit and survived
