We can have a fresh start?! WHOOOO! Count me in! This time, we probably shouldn't accept random faction requests, the home base gets really crowded, disorganized, and laggy. :/
-
I heard this song for the first time not a week ago. Love it.

Fjord Motor Company "Excelsior" Sports Rover [Low CG!]
Starwhip replied to Starwhip's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I did this one yesterday, just for fun. -
Not having enough common sense to design rovers so that when I want to take off an internal, non-structural component, it isn't the root component of the better half of the entire craft. :/

Lemme clarify something. I may hate spiders and have severe arachnophobia. But I would hardly ever kill one. (Mostly because I hate killing things in general. But also because I'm afraid to get close enough to the damn things to kill them. :/) So I'm not that bad. Looking through this thread is creeping me out, let's look at a lizard! (I love lizards! ) EDIT: More accurately a "leopard gecko". I had one as a pet a few years ago.

Fjord Motor Company "Excelsior" Sports Rover [Low CG!]
Starwhip replied to Starwhip's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Tests just completed, the other engines do not seem worth the hassle of their added size. Consistent turn of 23 m/s recorded. -
Fjord Motor Company "Excelsior" Sports Rover [Low CG!]
Starwhip replied to Starwhip's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
~24 m/s. I've done full 360 degree turns and never dropped below 23. Basic jet. Are the others better? (I didn't check. :/) -
[Showcase] Showoff Your Rep-Worthy Crafts
Starwhip replied to Redrobin's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/131926-Fjord-Motor-Company-Excelsior-Sports-Rover My newest and greatest creation. A (nearly) unflippable rover! (On Kerbin) -
Fjord Motor Company – "Excelsior" "Astounding!" -- Jebediah's blog "Thre- (OW, ow, okay)... five out of five!" -- New recruit "I still like rockets better, but this one's a close second." -- Rockomax employee The FMC Excelsior, a top-of-the-line vehicle, has an incredibly low center of gravity. Some claim it is black magic. Some say it has something to do with "wiirdjetconfiigs". Others, well, others simply don't care. Just try to flip this thing! (Don't. FMC is not responsible for responsible or irresponsible driving on behalf of responsible or irresponsible drivers, whether or not the other person or object was responsible for the accident, or if they or it were/was acting responsibly or irresponsibly. Don't ask us how inanimate objects can be irresponsible, or for that matter, responsible, because we're not responsible for telling you that.) It can turn at over 20 m/s without losing control, or bleeding off speed. "The spoiler and drooping front make the car go faster," say FMC engineers. "Even the scientists here say they do, and we totally didn't pay them to say that!" The Excelsior comes in three editions. The first is the standard model. At 75,022 funds, everything one can love about a wonderful vehicle that can enter a cartwheel of death at any moment comes by default. (And no, not because we don't have any extra options. And no, don't ask us about any extra options.) Detailed interior and underside. Mirrors you can pretend to look at. Taking up two parking spots at the office! Working headlights, working brakelights, an engine status light. Actually looking banged-up when you crash it. Cutting-edge steering technology lets you turn the car without even turning the wheel! Don't ask. Even I don't know how it got up here. The second model, Excelsior BST, comes with thirty six seconds of high-end explosive liquid we found in the lake. You can tell when you're using this when the four exhaust pipes start spewing white smoke. We still don't know what that stuff is, so don't put your face in it, all we know is it makes you go way faster! (Yes, you can make the fuel last longer by not opening the valve all the way, but that's for losers. Also, you didn't hear that from us.) Only 76,522 funds for this one, a great deal! (NONONO not that picture! Change it! Change it!) The third, Excelsior NUK, is completely self-sustaining. No need to refuel this one! It can accelerate much faster than the standard model because it doesn't haul around a heavy fuel tank. Don't take this through populated areas. There's a high risk that you'll contaminate the residents. Also, don't look in the trunk. Customers haven't reported any ill effects from doing so, even though we told them not to, and testing is inconclusive, but we speculate that it could shorten your lifespan by approximately twenty years. 280,098 funds. (Look, we can't tell you why it costs so much, but if you buy this one you can feel great about yourself! It's so much better than the other ones! Just look at the difference!) (Yeah, you see? We knew you'd like it the best.) When compared to the standard Excelsior, after 19.5 “Human†years (Whatever those are. And you have to run the standard version continuously), the NUK edition would finally pay itself off! Yeeehaaw! (The first individual to normally use any of these three vehicles for 19.5 years without stopping and without breaking anything should immediately turn themselves in to FMC for questioning. We’re serious. We’ll find you.) The FMC Excelsior has been voted the top sports car of the year (Year 0) by the residents of the FMC. Get yours today! DOWNLOAD All versions of the craft are under 150 parts. Enjoy! Press "1" to turn on fuel cell. Status light will activate. "2" turns off fuel cell and status light. On the NUK version, status light still works, but there's no fuel cell.

I'm publishing this craft in mere minutes. Stay tuned!

Funds per metric ton - How efficient are your lifters/spaceplanes?
Starwhip replied to Highlad's topic in KSP1 Discussion
For KSP, I think time is a more important unit of currency. A rough guestimate of my best lifter puts it at 4.8 seconds per ton. (50 tons to orbit in ~ 4 minutes) -
'Fraid not. Red Iron Crown?

I've ridden rockets with the command seat, This here helmet be impossible to beat, I've taken blasts of radiation directly to the face, Nuclear engines that would melt you to useless waste, So go ahead, try to come at me, give it all you've got, Bet you can't so much as make my suit glow red hot, I've got control of time, can bend physics to my will, You'd be better off as an ornament on the windowsill.

When you first began KSP what gave you the most difficulty?

But not in the title? -
www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWrjYdD0Tg0 I discovered this gem a while ago. Also, anything from Two Steps From Hell is great. What do you guys like?
-
I would suggest Python, simply because it's one of the easiest to learn. And, once you've got one language under your belt, you can very quickly switch to another, simply by learning the syntax. Learning "how" to program is more important than learning any one language.

Lately, they've become almost exactly like the Borg. They recently have been able to "adjust" somehow to weapons after a few of them take hits, rendering them useless. (At one point, anyways, maybe that was episode-specific)

Airships - Vastly Important for KSP
Starwhip replied to JMBuilder's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
The one portion of the idea that is a good one is electric props. I'd love them, and there have been others who have expressed interest in them. As for airship parts (big floaty balloon things), those would only be useful in rather specific and rare cases. -
You'd think they'd be easier to avoid, right? Wrong. They love to occasionally have webs just so conveniently low so that you can walk face-first into them. Perhaps right into the spider, in some cases. Other times there will be twenty or thirty over your head in the tree/phone pole/telephone wires/whatever. It is extremely creepy. There's a GeoCache around my school in the middle of the dense tree area called the Spider Cache. Guess why. They say it's best to go in at night with a flashlight.

When you first began KSP what gave you the most difficulty?
Starwhip replied to JackBush's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Erm, no, "wheat" did not give me the most difficulty. That would be Minecraft. What gave me the most difficulty was learning to fly with the Navball. I managed to land and return from Mun without using it, but once I'd learned how to use it most things were a piece of cake. -
Banana Spiders. I. Hate. Them. Mother of God, these things are everywhere during the summer here in Miami, Flordia. *shudders* EDIT: They may not be called "Banana Spiders" but they're commonly referred to that. I don't know, all I know is that they're creepy as all hell.

I feel so lonely. So, to cheer myself up, I will give you a resounding NO! Is the mysterious Alphasus there?
