Sent a satellite to Minmus to scan for Kethane and Ore. Mods used: Kethane, Extraplanetary Launchpads, Procedural Fairings, KSPX, RLA Stockalike.

They're all good, but the FusTek mod looks very nice. (never used it though)

What gaming mouse would you recommend me to get?
Woopert replied to dudester28's topic in The Lounge
I have the Logitech G400s. It's a wired mouse with an optical sensor of 200-4000 dpi, hydrophobic (anti-sweat) coating, and it has a great grip. Recommend it. -
Real life Spacecraft! Post your Replicas here!
Woopert replied to Sickle's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
A stock Saturn IB, or "Jool IB" if that floats your goat. Apollo spacecraft is basically my version of Mulbin's. I also borrowed the lights technique from Mulbin (for the aesthetics). Enough fuel to get in a 80 km orbit and possibly more. Download if interested. Backspace will abort and 0 will deploy chutes and jettison the launch escape system. -
Thanks for the help. I saw the video and thought that just the "switch to 0" would initiate the autopilot system. The problem was with getting the autopilot going. Look forward to testing this later once I have more time. Does this mean the autopilot will just run, and you can just sit back, relax, and watch the "cinematic"?

Open Source Construction Techniques for Craft Aesthetics
Woopert replied to GusTurbo's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Thanks for the help. It's a shame that rocket was too heavy, the aesthetics are beautiful. By inline, I mean fairings that go straight up from the base. See here. On an Atlas V, the fairings "bubble" around the payload, while on a rocket like the Antares, the rocket is shaped as basically a cylinder with a pointed tip (just trying to simplify things). Atlas V: http://www.wired.com/images_blogs/wiredscience/images/2008/02/08/atlas_v_401mro_liftoff_2.jpg Antares: http://www.topnews.in/files/Antares-Launch-Vehicle.jpg -
From the East coast in the US, not gonna say specifics though.

Open Source Construction Techniques for Craft Aesthetics
Woopert replied to GusTurbo's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Thanks for the help with the fairings. Did you update the craft? Last time I saw it used structural panels, good job with the I-beams if you did (they look smoother than structural panels you had previously). Do you have advice for "inline" fairings, like on the Antares rocket? Just a quick example, I'm trying to replicate the Antares so fairings are an issue. Here's some pictures. (the craft is stock, the B9 Aerospace and Space Shuttle Engines parts in the background are for other projects) -
I was working on this earlier, thought you might want to continue it. There's some staging issues with it and haven't tested the Delta V. A Pico-style Boeing CST-100, with an Atlas V. Download if you want to continue it.

After messing around on my alternate install of KSP, I sort of figured out how to do I-beam fairings/interstages, take a look here. It involves a lot of trial and error. Once I get Photoshop on the new computer hopefully I can make a diagram. They don't line up perfectly, but I think Mulbin's is kinda like that, too. Shown here is an attempt at a Space Launch System interstage.

Great job on these! Assuming the Ares V and Altair lander will follow the Ares I, do you have any plans for the Space Launch System (SLS), considering it is the current plan for the future of NASA exploration? Oh, and one thing: solar panels on the Orion MPCV? Not trying to bug you, magnificent job, far better than my garbage.

Asking the same question as GusTurbo. Whenever I try to make replica rockets (which does not usually go well), I use the same technique for making the composite fuel tank sizes. This this seems to cause problems for fairings. Say, if it's a standard size fuel tank, you can just place a bunch of I-beams around the tank. But with the "composite fuel tanks," do you have to guess and check by moving the I-beams, and then attaching them to each other? Sorry if's hard to understand, if I could figure out how to take screenshots in the VAB/SPH, I could explain it better.

Just finished working on this. It uses B9 Aerospace and Space Shuttle Engines.

Hey, here is a modded craft I made to try and replicate the Space Shuttle. It's resemblance is pretty close if you look at the orbiter. The external tank is pretty accurate, but the boosters are the most obvious deviation from the real shuttle. The boosters were somewhat inspired by the WIP shuttle Amloris is working on here, they seemed like a good way to do it. Check out his stock space shuttle if you are looking for stock. This design consists of SSMEs from the Space Shuttle Engines mod, components from B9 Aerospace, and stock parts. The launch procedure is fairly basic but will require some effort for fine maneuvering. I was able to dock to a little makeshift space station launched to test the space shuttle (the station was in a 85 km orbit). Enjoy, have fun, and criticism is welcome as I am not so good at replicating space craft (don't make fun of my skills ) I'm only really good at just launching basic craft. I just finished docking it, so it's landing capabilities are yet to be tested (good thing there is a probe core in it) Mods Used B9 Aerospace Space Shuttle Engines Download here: http://www./view/5b0k00t6bh2d3lj/STS%2520v2.craft Here is an album to preview the space shuttle

Wow, that's a cool mission there. The ravine you found is pretty cool. Just a random question, what star field is that in the background?

It's definitely not "just a game." If people think that , then they're playing it wrong, no offense meant. (one of my friends views the game that way) It creates new interests for people who actually get involved with the game. My thoughts are so complex nowadays, about life, relativity (and I finally think I see it making sense now), the laws of physics, orbital mechanics, logic, how things can even be alive - you get the idea. Most people just take life for granted (that's changed for me now - life is really special and I am grateful to be living in this world). Orbital mechanics, for example - I never knew there were so many complex maneuvers, speed varying according how close you are to the planet. I thought space was orbit. It's not just orbital mechanics though. I feel as though I'm really well rounded now, coming up with my own theories for everything. My brain is crazy now, I feel so special. But I'm not alone. It's great to see that so many other people have been blessed by KSP as well. So many things have changed for me. I've had some personal issues that I don't feel comfortable sharing yet, but KSP was helping me through a bit, even though I seldom got to play it. I have a huge passion for space and just science now, thanks to KSP. I follow everything in the space world. My friends always laugh when I say it, but KSP really did change my life. It's their loss for living dull lives where they're not really wanting to know and explore life and the universe. KerbalEdu is a great idea and hopefully it spreads the cause of KSP. Adding on to what Mulbin said, there's an obvious effect that results from playing KSP, if you play it passionately. You learn about space history and the various programs that people and countries have carried out. For example. before playing KSP, I never knew there was a whole Apollo mission plan with lunar orbit rendezvous, or a command module. I just remember the lunar module and never could quite figure out how they stored all that within the Saturn V. I always remembered the Space Shuttle as a kid and thought it was cool, but never really dove into the realms of space science. Now, I think I may want to pursue an interest in space for a career, but those are just dreams right now, there's still a long way to go before that happens. I really do question a lot about how the universe (or multiverse or cosmos, if that works for you) works, and I have to give Squad a big thanks for developing KSP. My family really likes KSP and thinks it helps me, too. Thanks a billion, Squad. And I mean that.

How long have you been playing kerbal space program for?
Woopert replied to FlamingPotatoes's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Bought the game in January, so some time around 0.18. -
That's a cool picture, what did you use to make Kerbin look like that? A Universe Replacer texture pack? Sorry for asking if it bothers you.
-
Like they're family. No deaths, but the first group sent to the Mun had to be rescued. Look how cute they are, with their little boots and the bulging bellies. That being said, they crash landed.

Awesome job on the aesthetics, it looks really sleek and nice.
