  1. In examples you posted I am slave locked in cage and fighting for my life... same as other people in there, so any decisions in those scenarios are not decisions of free man, but a slaves. You can't take away freedom from slave, because he have none. To have freedom paradox first you have to describe scenario with a free man, not with a slave
  2. It is objective, your freedom ends when my begins. You are confusing law and morality. Of course law is created by group and if you want to be part of that group you must obey their law. But that doesn't mean you have to accept morality of this group. Morality is your private set of rules, if you let that someone imposed it to you then you will be a slave. A free man himself decide where is the line between good and evil. This allows you spot does the law is good or wrong, because there is such possibility. And if law is wrong you can try to change it or leave the group. But If you do as you said... and you accept both the law and the morality of the group, how do you determine what is good and what is wrong? How you can be sure group is not creating immoral law?
  3. As far as I know Earths age or answer for "how universe became what it is" are only hypothesis, lots of theories, speculations without clear proof? I think that "caveman" was more intelligent than most people is today, but that doesn't mean I would leave him my home address and teach him how to use gun. I would observe and study, but won't try to contact him until he and his group would develop level of knowledge similar to my own. Some people even today don't understand simple things, like at some point, if you got enough knowledge, you are no longer violent, you no longer want to steal or cheat. Greed is something you dislike and you even disrespect greedy people and their actions. In my opinion in a similar way, the world is perceived by all highly developed beings. Other thing is that knowledge gathered just from observing us may have more value that our planet and all its resources.
  4. Who is setting those boundaries? I always thought that community, but since I am member of community I can set or move boundaries If you let someone else to choose for you what is good and what is wrong you are slave of that person. Only your conscience or subconscious (call it what you like) can set the moral rules, and if you follow them you will be able to sleep peacefully. But if you rely on morality created by other person, or even the whole of society, then you are not a free man.
  5. Well that is because you as "you" ... unique person might be smartest and most experienced person on continent, but if you are trying to be part of the herd (the deliberate use) your intelligence, your choices and wisdom are thrown away and you are starting to act like mindless sheep just to fit the herd. Most of people don't think about world around them, even about simplest things, they are doing things because other people are doing those things, so it is safe, it must be safe and you should do this because other people are doing this, right? Like driving car without seat belt... while you are driving your car you have to (in my country) remember to use them, you can't trust yourself on this one, you can't make your own choice. But when you are sitting on bus or train you are forced to trust stranger with your life, because there is no seat belts there. This reminds me of moral trap... a child and several people walking on the tracks while a train is approaching. And we have a choice to save a child or adults. Of course, this is trap, in which most people allow to restrict their morality by rules created by the author and their choice is to do nothing. And here I think is the same most people is forced to choose something that looks like a smart choice, but it isn't. This soldier is not your enemy, your enemies are people who give him orders, who trained him... same people who probably started war
  6. We can always use asteroids or mine metals from asteroid and built projectile in space
  7. Yea what people are calling UFO was/is probably prototype. Google about Coanda effect it is known since 1800, so in 1942 it could have first working prototype http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coand%C4%83_effect For me it is like helicopter, invented during WWII by Germans, so why they couldn't build helicopters with rotors inside craft body
  8. One more thing what if we would shot from satellite orbiting around the Moon? It should increase speed of projectile even further
  9. You guys didn't seen electromagnetic cannons? Having in orbit satellite with huge electromagnetic cannon you could speed up even few tons projectile, of course it would have to be built from alloys that won't burn down on re-entry. And shock wave might be caused not by explosion or impact itself, but from seismic reaction. What if you shot few projectiles, few tons of metal each, into seismic rifts?
  10. Is it possible to trap photons in orbit around gravity source? Photons should move in circular orbits around for example a microscopic black hole. Interesting like they have been behaving? And what would happen when shoot exactly the same number of photons in the opposite direction, but in inclined orbit in such a way that the two groups never collide?
  11. I like this carrier... it is going to be one of few first things I will do in 1.0 More threads with interesting patents, pretty please
  12. I disagree. Looking at history of our civilization you can say there were points where some things become obvious. Gathering and hunting is no longer our main source of food, so we can spend more time on different things - it was one of important points in history of our civilization. Imagine world full of smartphones, but you have no time to text because you didn't found diner yet Developing of writings, math and education, so we can communicate and share knowledge. Today those things are obvious, but even 200 years ago? Why would you teach math a slave that has only one job... picking cotton... I mean picking cotton faster.
  13. You forget Prime Directive (it is opposite for what is USA doing ), more advanced civilizations will try to hide from us until we get ability to travel between solar systems. Reason is simple - you don't learn caveman about nukes and you don't give him your address.
  14. So where are those high quality photos?
  15. Well I want to know the truth and from what I learned truth is not so easy to spot If you rely on artificial values... for example GPS, if you change 0 meridian to different location you can see wonders. There is something special in our planet And we have ancient Mensa test to solve to learn all the answers.
  16. From what I read about Earth its tilt is changing over time, so maybe Uranus is still in prograde rotation just its tilt is changing faster.
  17. International Day of Human Space Flight
  18. Turned on Steam... it says DOWNLOADING 0 of 1 items complete... but it is not Kerbal
  19. Last Devnotes... you mean those published on April 1st?

    .

This video sucks but magnetic fields topic is quite interesting. Because you got zero money from free energy? And when every person in the world would have access to free energy those corporations wouldn't be needed and would have huge competition? The more people have access to cheap energy the more people, smarter than you, can start to build their bussiness and take away from you and your comapny part of the market Primary goal of every corporation is to keeping energy and resources prices and levels high enough to stop ordinary people from creating competition for them.
